I know the scene with the rex chasing her while she's wearing heals seems far-fetched and silly, but it's surprisingly accurate. The Rex in this film is Rexy, the original rex from Jurassic Park. At this point, she is quite old. She's also big and lumbering. It's not a stretch to think she wouldn't be able to catch Claire.

2:50 This guy with the turtleneck is actor BD Wong playing Dr. Henry Wu. He was in Jurassic Park from 1993, playing the same character. I'm not surprised when many reactors don't recognize him. Wu was only in one short scene from the original, when the egg hatches. I believe his character was evacuated off the island as the storm came in, along with most of the other workers.
JP was in the process of being opened to the public, so it makes logical sense why so few were present for the disaster that unfolded. Never thought Wu would come back into the franchise, especially after a whole 22 years. In real life I remember Wong was interviewed while playing Linus in the Peanuts play, read that in my local newspaper at the time.

The thing I loved about this when it came out was the fact that a lot of people started blasting it from the previews because it looked like he had trained raptors. People lost their minds because it wasn't believable that raptors could be trained. It was more an issue with the previews being misleading than anything.
I liked how quickly in the movie we realized that they're just barely able to work with them. They sometimes listen to commands, but they're absolutely still wild and will kill them all given the chance.

when looking at the Indominus Rex's actions more closely, I believe her potential intelligence may be even greater than we may initially think, as examples...
    1) aside from marking the wall of her enclosure to fool the humans (hiding her thermal signature may just be part of her instinctual stealth tactic rather than knowing they locate her with, it I'll admit), she also positions herself ahead of time to cut off the humans from the door she cannot escape through, thereby forcing them to open the large doors she can escape through
    2) while her removing her tracking implant is significant, the fact that she set up an ambush with it shows that she (correctly) guessed that this strange object was how the humans would find her and used that against them, demonstrates a scarily accurate deduction of the potential purposes of (some) technology
    3) after encountering the helicopter and realising she can't reach it and breaking into the aviary, she very quickly realises the potential of the Pterosaurs* inside to bring down/distract the helicopter for her, even when they are easily within snapping distance she doesn't try to kill any of them, instead she riles them up, then deliberately herds some out the hole she made towards the helicopter, only exiting the aviary when she sees it crashing down
I would also say that to me, the most scary physical aspect of the Indominus Rex has always been her massive and powerful arms with hands that have apposable thumbs, things no other Theropod Dinosaur has
others may have already pointed this out, but the T-Rex in this is the same individual from the 1st Jurassic Park (affectionately nicknamed Rexy), which can be seen from the scars around her neck region, curtesy of her fight with the Velociraptors at the end of the movie (and now with more to add from the Indominus), also returning from the 1st movie, don't know if you noticed, is Dr Wu, who was the scientist who was present at the hatching scene explaining why the Dinosaurs were all female, also the Dinosaur in the hologram/the herd the Indominus killed for sport were Apatosaurus, different from Brachiosaurus who hold their necks more like a giraffe and have shorter tails
I would also highly recommend watching Camp Cretaceous as well (ideally after finishing the films first) as well as slipping the short, Battle at Big Rock, in between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion (preferably the Extended Edition of the latter)
    * I add this not to be mean and to say as politely/diplomatically as possible, but as a lifelong Dinosaur enthusiast, please don't use the word Pterodactyls, its my biggest... I guess you could call it a pet peeve (is that right?), in regards to prehistoric misinterpretation/misinformation, it just really rubs me the wrong way. That word is a shortened version of the species name Pterodactylus in the group known collectively as Pterosaurs, and more specifically, the species in this film are Pteranodon (the larger one with the beaks, and all females as shown by the very short head crests) and Dimorphodon (the smaller ones with toothy jaws). I just ask to please try and refer to these as Pterosaurs (as you would for Dinosaurs you can't specify) rather than Pterodactyls (they are also not flying Dinosaurs, birds are, but that misunderstanding is understandable), thank you

in my opinion the jurassic world movies can not hold against the original jurassic park at all. this is what i call franchise milking. they use the music and stuff to try to catch the audiance but they are not even close to be as good like the original. one of my problems is that the dinos in the jurassic world movis dont behave like animals, they are monsters. no big animal in the world would hunt humans down just to kill them, if they find a better food source they dont care about humans at all. unless they think we are a thread to there babys, but that is not the case in the movie. in the original jurassic world, they infact do behave like animals. and also it is realy funy how the original movie has better VFX than the new jurassic world movies. nothing can beat the practical effects

The clicker is something they were trained to listen for and once they hear it they know to pay attention.
Its the same thing pretty much as waiving a treat in front of a dog to get them to look at you, except in this case the raptors were trained to hear it and follow.

  • @jena-fire
    @jena-fire Год назад +19

    Hi Seb!
The clicker is a tool that is used in training. In particular, for operant conditioning. This is where you can increase or decrease the likelihood of the desired behavior to occur when paired with an added or removed stimulus. The clicker represents a bridge, where after the desired behavior occurs the sound acts as reinforcer to let the animal know that a primary reinforcer (i.e. treat, or desired reward) will follow. You do need to be very precise in the timing of when you click. They represent the training dynamic pretty well when first introduced to Chris Pratt’s character! Especially how to train animals that are too dangerous to be in the same physical space as.

The T-Rex and Indominus are both females btw. The T-rex is the same one from Jurassic Park, and they only had females in that movie until some of the dinosaurs evolved to change their s3x to reproduce.
It's also nice to see our T-Rex working with the raptors in the end of this movie because it's symbolic for the ending of Jurassic Park, where the Rex came in and killed the velociraptors to save the day instead. The mutual moment of respect between her and Blue is lovely uwu

This was a great way to relaunch the franchise by relaunching the project within the movie too. You got to see nods to the original without dissing it (unlike a certain sc-fi franchise).
Not really sure why some critics didn't take to it like the paying public did. Guess they just don't like dinosaurs anymore. Weirdos.

As a puppy everytime you feed it you click and after awhile it will associate the clicking with food and therefore listen to your comands since it thinks it will get food. Here he is saying witht he clicking that if they find the indominous rex they will get postivie reenforment inform of food.

and then you'll have never watch any movie at all at this point ? :')
I'm not saying these are fake reactions, but the probabillity that's you've not seen any of the big movies made the last 20 years or so is reaaaaaally unlikely and feels a bit weird tbh<

When owen said “that’s no dinosaur” he was referring to it being a living weapon designed for that purpose. Which explains the fact it can avoid thermal targeting and can camouflage as well as it’s outlandishly aggressive nature mixed with the intelligence and “trainability” of a velociraptor😮‍💨😮‍💨
