Fun fact, the reason why the compys managed to kill the guy, aside from numbers, was because they have a venomous bite in the books (not irl). You can actually see him getting more disoriented and weak after the first attack, stumbling more than before.

Yeah it's really annoying how many idiotic, careless, outright suicidal characters survive in this movie while Eddie, one of the two people in this with their head straight on, is killed like that. When I watched it first I was really hoping Nick would bite it, but it was a different time and they needed to hammer home the environmentalist message, so the literal terrorist that is getting dozens of people killed has to be shown in a badass light.

34:50 In a deleted scene when they have tied up the baby rex Ludlow is a bit drunk and falls on the baby rex and breaks its leg. In the script he kicked it... so the revenge in the San Diego scene is perfect.
36:40 The San Diego finale was a late addition... originally the island village was bigger with a water tower where Kelly vs raptor happens... The raptors chased both groups on the roofs of the village but after awhile suddenly back off and the whole Pteranodon attack scene on the roofs & compound happens... Kelly is grabbed and falls into one of the nests but gets saved by Roland Tembo I think (Ludlow died in a scene before that). At the end Malcolm & Kelly meet up with Lex & Tim at John Hammond's funeral and Malcolm does a voice over as we see a last shot of the Pteranodon landing on it's nest and squawk just like in the final cut. They never ended up filming this.
Sarah Harding is the daughter of Gerry Harding (the man who is at the sick Triceratops site in the first Jurassic Park).

Fav all time JP film! I love the pace and science that they added to this film.
I have the dvd copy and I've seen it tooooooo many times to know the ins and outs!
    Fun facts:
    - compy scene is from the first book, the kid thankfully survives and it was actually on a beach on the mainland, not the island (I think, from what I recall)
    - Trex's are very territorial. After pushing the trailer off the cliff, they come back because they view that space as a threat when they took the baby trex. So they returned to eliminate any remaining threats.
    - In the film, they made it seem like the "dad" as the bigger trex and the one chasing the folks and doing all the work. When actually in the second book, it's the "mom" that's alot bigger and does all the dirty work. And they are alot more intense too, I don't want to give too much away.
    - The waterfall scene with the Trex is also another scene from the first book. Tim and lexi were hiding and the trex tried to snatch em (can't remember the details)
    - Sarah harding is an absolute badass in the second book, there are way too many cool parts! And I love that it's not shoved onto your face like "she can do it all"
Highly recommend the 2 books! You'll definitley feel the tension and the build up as Speilberg did with these 2 films :)

Yea a lot of modern research has been conducted on their potential behavior. Their potential capacity for complex behavior, mixed with their extremely good vision (one of the misrepresentations promoted by JP), and their sense of smell all being in the absolute elite class -matched to a tank of a carnivore, goes to show their lives and behavioral patterns were likely far more advanced than people have traditionally given them credit for. Especially the people who have advocated for them only being scavengers for example, being consistently proven to have major fallacies in their arguments.
Such interesting animals to study, imagine the millions of years they have had to evolve.

Regarding the compys, in the books they are described to have a paralytic bite. I believe the little girl got away fine at the start too.

Roland Timbo was not upset anout The male Rex being alive. He was upset about his best friend Ajay, the guy who shouted " Dont go into the long Grass!" Was killed( in a deleted scene we would've seen him be killed by raptors, but I believe in that scene where Ian said the backpack belongs to Ajay, we heard his screams as he was being killed by raptors)

There's a lot that the movie doesn't explain that comes directly from the books one of the T-Rex was actually in the process of starving itself to take food back to the nest. Because the Velociraptors had no social structure they were very Savage towards each other which explains why they were fighting in this movie

I perfer 3 because I'll be honest, I remember every beat of the plot. In lost world it's 90% the humans beating up the dinosaurs and not the other way around

The first movie was made so realistic within the parameters of the film; but this movie I saw as a kid in theaters when it came out, and it just did not let up. I still love this movie for that theatrical experience and the horror, comedy, tragedy, and ridiculousness of it all. Kind of like the movie Speed, you know?

The T-Rex had cushioned feet that allowed it to move stealthly to ambush it's prey. That's why they sound far away when they are right on you.
