      Don't ya know? Content creators are so desperate for money these days that they need to shit all over everything like a newborn baby crying out for attention. There are bound to be tons of ppl like yourself who find the game perfectly enjoyable, with or without the flaws. Not to mention the mass amounts of kids who really couldn't give a shit less about someone's opinions about a game they enjoy

      I forced myself to give it around 10h, I tried my best but I can't rememer last time I was this bored by a game. It has no reedeming qualities outside of the dog finding npcs and the pretty art. It's simplistic, annoying, it should have been advertised as made for children as it clearly is. It lacks any depth whatsoever. I loved Stardew Valley and wanted more of the type so I tried PP, but I can't be bothered to even give it another try,

    I mean youre right but calling it a dissappointment is a bit too much I think. Its a relaxing game with an adorable story and I actually love the fact that when its your first time playing you have to figure out how to do everything and get everything and the game just leads you. Of course your points were good and I agree with you although I still think that its worth buying for sure!❤I have been playing it for a while and I love it😊So yeah the game could surely use some updates to make it more fun and just better but still its an amazing game and surely not a disappointment and im saying that its worth giving it a chance😊

    As a child I played bunch of vet games and the gameplay loop was much better there. I wish in this game you had more patients so you HAVE TO get ingredients. Help patients in the morning, make potions, later go for more supplies. It could be such a good loop eventho still grindy, but you would have a good reason to go to the wild except tree and stone. YOU ARE A CHEMIST DAMN IT, NOT A BUILDER

    I’ve been playing potion permit for a few weeks at this point. It is pretty grindy in terms of having g to collect materials. At the start for me there actually seemed to be way too many quests, I kind of forgot about the community board and kept accidentally finding new quests when I would go in a shop to do something else. This was frustrating for a few reasons: 1 it derailed me from what I was currently working on 2 I like being able to do things intentionally. I’m about 60% done with the game at this point and the quests have come to a halt. I hope they pick up again soon because without the quests all there really is to do is scavenge endlessly
    Oh another frustration with the game: sometimes you need to find a specific villager to finish a quest. Some of the villagers who work in the stores are typically found in those stores. People like Rue and Zeke could be anywhere on the island and it’s incredibly frustrating having to run around the entire island trying to find them

    The mayor's daughter was so jarring to me. You've been brought in from out-of-town as an expert because nobody can figure out what's wrong with her! When you arrive she's bedridden in the clinic with a minor symptom, so my brain went "oh OK, she'll be here all the time/regularly, we'll deal with her minor symptoms to keep her going but it'll be a big focus to try and figure out the core problem and properly cure her!" A 5-second diagnosis minigame and a handful of ingredients you have in your pocket and then she's cured. Properly. Forever.

On one hand there is a lot of love put into the game so I hope the devs try to improve it over time.

    I like that the developers chose to make a chill, cozy, and well-paced game that has cool like teleporting whenever to any of the signs you unlock. There aren’t any time sensitive events except caring for patients and makes it feel like you can come back to the game whenever even after a long period of time without being too caught up on trying to remember where you were in the game. Yes, it sucks not being able to marry, but hopefully they can change that in the future. For the time being, it’s a lowkey game and enjoyable for what it is. ☺️ It kind of reminded me of Fantasy Life to an extent, or atleast has the potential to be similar to it with some updates. Don’t give up on this title!

    • @mc.builder8267
      @mc.builder8267 Год назад +8

      I do like it. If you’re looking for ‘relax and chill’ (that isn’t a farming simulator) then this is an ideal game for that, but if you’re looking for depth beyond surface level, then while the game clearly has the frame work to support that depth, it’s lacking the depth itself.

    • @mc.builder8267
      @mc.builder8267 Год назад +6

      @@0utrunner237 it's not mandatory per-say, but the option of who to marry is greatly enjoyed when you have so many different characters. Live sims are all about simulating social interactions, be it from how you make your living to who you spend time with, and not having the option to marry means less chances for interaction. it just feels like the developers said "we don't have the time/can't be bothered", and that's not a fun thing to be told.

But I have to agree that this feels like I've been roped in as an involuntary beta tester. The bugs are maddening. And my favorite thing? The fetch quest where I had to get 20 white meat, and then when I went to the NPC to deliver them, the requirements had changed to 10 white and 5 pink. I did almost quit the game at that point.

    People need to have an understanding that games evolve and develop by giving feedback to developers. The team that made this game has said that it is still on their radar and many things are coming. You state that it lacks compared to games like "Star Dew Valley", understand this game is a newborn, Stardew has been going for 8+ years. This game is not meant to be an Epic RPG of challenges and grand battles, it's a cozy "life" sim. You want challenging enemies play EldenRing. This is a nice game to wind down with after a stressful day. Many of your challenges are self imposed. "The mini games are boring" so don't do them they only give a small amount of gold and money is easy to come by in this game. "Grinding for mats is tedious" so is living on earth in 2024. The developers have already addressed many of your issues, including the bugs which I have never seen in 30 hours of play. The fishing meter does appear and levels are explained by the townsfolk. Overall this game is very worth the 13.00 USD you pay for it and it's still growing and developing.

I just find the game chill to play and I have found there to be a loop to it all that I enjoy, so I've been having a good time with it at least.

    • @LummyJooma
      @LummyJooma 2 года назад +6

      @@colbyw92 I think the video's criticisms are quite fair to be honest. I personally started to feel the grind point myself, had to get 2k+ wood and stone just to clear a path, which meant I had to spend pretty much multiple full days clearing the map for those which came across as tedious, especially if you consider that the map's resources have the exact same spawn points every day. I even upgraded my gear completely just to see if it helped increase my resource gathering, but it really didn't so I had to grind even more after forking out for those upgrades.
      While I personally found the game to be enjoyable, I think it's one of the rare ones where I can't really recommend it to others outright, at least not right now. I think with some time and a handful of updates though, the game should get some nice QoL changes and perhaps some of the underwhelming systems will become more fleshed out.

  • @MeanyBooters
    @MeanyBooters 2 года назад +32

    I completely agree with all of your points. Story is short as well. After you upgrade, access all areas, and finish sorry plus friendship quests, you're stuck with just grinding resources and waiting for patients.
    The dialogue is weird at times and skips over a lot of things. Relationships move quickly and without it feeling like a proper friendship/courtship. Did a quest where Runehart said Reyner had a crush on me, he didn't even confess and I was able to give him a Moon Brooch after 3 friendship levels. There was no lead up imo to him or myself feeling anything.
    After getting to know a lot of the town and befriending them, they still call me the chemist. Literally dating Reyner and he's saying hey look it's the chemist. A minor annoyance. I find it odd you cannot progress further when dating and more characters should be romancable like Lucke. You also can't break off the relationship to try other options. There's only 3 save spots as well.
    As cute as the dates are, I wish they were interactive or you had any options to choose some dialogue during certain moments and scenes with townies.
    I don't mind fishing. You can start reeling in while the fish are chasing the line so it helps pull them in faster imo. I do wish there was a system to keep up with progress.
    The crops and enemies being in the same spot every single day gives off a repetitive feeling so fast. Enemies aren't tough. I tank their hits and keep on going. Don't even need to dodge.
    Overall I enjoy the game and I makes me upset because the game could be so much more. I'm hoping that they add updates, content, bug fixes, and fix dialogue so we can have more time to develop actual relationships with townies instead of it feeling rushed. Explain more of the lore instead of saying chemists from the capital caused a mess every time I talk to the mayor in story progression. I do have hopes that the devs are taking into consideration our frustrations. Stardew Valley wasn't always the games we know and love today so I hope this game puts out quality content and qol improvements that it really needs.

    I don't really understand complaining about item/resource respawn. Respawning items is pretty much what all games do. And pixel games with better combat than "push x to swing" seem rare. I mean its no better in Stardew.
    But having not even a basic farming system for these gathered items doesn't make any sense, unless the story went out of its way to say most of the plants cannot be cultivated and can only be gathered out of the wild, which would at least be SOMETHING. My biggest issue is this game's really sorry dating/ relationship system. You can't advance into marriage? Seriously? What is even the point then?!
    My second biggest upset with this game is the shallow story and the whole sick villager thing. It is too simple and too repetitive. This video points out how I feel about that pretty spot on.
    Also you should never have to swipe at a plant 12 times to harvest it. Unless it is some massive magical beanstalk or something.

    It’s literally not that bad. If you’re looking for an action packed game then obviously it isn’t for you.. it’s a cozy game. Something you can play while chilling out. It can be grindy but that’s literally the whole point. You’re a chemist set to forage for materials to make potions for sick people. What did you expect? To walk in a store and buy all the materials? That would defeat the whole point of the story and game. It’s basically a cooler stardew valley in my opinion and I enjoy it a lot.

    A garden /growing area to grow some ingredients would have been such a good idea. I have just finished this game on switch and there is so much I did enjoy playing this game. I enjoyed the soundtrack and I enjoyed the town and its characters it was chill to play. I agree though only one patient just got irritating..usually in the same bed too. The fishing ! ....'nuf said!...I bought the kitchen after much chopping and bashing with a promise of cooking, but nope loads of ingredients (nice touch with dog buddy helping) and very few recipes until late in my game so why did I bother? I think this game has so much going for it but for all my grinding somehow I felt unrewarded. I enjoyed it for what it is, but thats just cause I'm optimistic there will be much better updates. Stardew was kindathe same for a bit before major updates (although the base game was better upon launch than potion permit is)
    My only thing is, I feel you on the shortcuts issues, but once I got all the fast travel flags, I kind of got over the issue for the most part.

    What a complete waste of time. It's suitable for little kids but that's about it. To me, it feels like a freemium version of stardew on a smart phone. The boring tetris pieces for creating potions doesn't feel rewarding. The mini games for diagnosis are insanely bland and more of a drag than anything. The research table? What even is that? All you do is cycle through the elements until they match, you could do it with your eyes closed. The battle mechanics are clunky, the grind of gathering rocks and wood is boring. When you trigger NPC stories it teleports you to their home or office, making it annoying to get back to where you were headed. How did they manage to make the fishing more boring than real fishing? Not to mention it takes 100 or so casts to level up the fishing rod. Lastly, the fast travel locations are scarce and in terrible locations.
    To add insult to injury, my game crashed, making me lose 2 weeks worth of progress, so needless to say I put the game down for good and came here to vent about it. NEXT.

    There is a lot to love, but a lot that needs polish. The game feels like a mess of half-baked ideas. There is little to no reason to continue playing after the main storyline. The romance stuff is barely there. No marriage or kids. The writing is all over the place. The mini games need to be reworked or expanded on. Idk man, the game just wasn't finished yet. They could have stuck it in early access for another couple years to make it something great.

    this is because (probably) the fishing event where you get the fishing rod

    I. Fine with how slow and limited it is. It can have greater potential but it reminds me of those early Harvest moon games. Its short, cute and simple. What really gets me is the Stupid Glitches! I can barely teleport when it lets me without being pushed to the edges of the map. It won't let me confess to Matheo, it just pushes me onto the female fisherman which Really Sucks.

    I think its a great game. The only game of the harvest moon type ive seen that pulls it off without centralising on a farming mechanic.
    I do think that the lack of variety in the spawning of plants and animals does make it monotonous to grind.
    It also is definitely held up by the sheer amount of events. I think without constant events popping up it would get boring quickly.
    But in general I feel that fans of Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley could definitely find enjoyment here.
    Unless it was the farming mechanic that was the thing they enjoyed.

    @pte_n0vember Год назад

    It is SO buggy and unfinished:
    -I managed to freeze my dog because he was digging up something when I fainted. He would spawn everywhere with me but was frozen in the digging animation, so he wouldn't follow and I couldn't interact with him anymore nor would he dig up resources. I tried rebooting the game but nothing worked and because it automatically saves when you faint I needed to reload an earlier save from the Playstation Cloud.
    -I fainted just as I opened the map once too and got stuck in the map screen. Had to reboot the game to be able to play again.
    -Quests don't trigger or get stuck on a loop (the game prompted me to make the energizer even after finishing Martha's quest so that was stuck in my inventory for the rest of the game, the quest for the intermediate fishing rod kept appearing on the board despite being done, Victor's final friendship quest reappeared in my log despite being finished,...).
    -Character dialogue lines would repeat during cutscenes and the sprites would have the wrong animations or even just disappear (was there ever a horse sprite? It feels like there should have been in the "missing horse" quest but we instead hunted an invisible pony).
    -Certain key items would not be assigned a picture or even a name (instead showing "localisation error" in the title)
    -Despite upgrading my house, clinic and postbox to the max it still says "upgrade required" at the store and I can spend money and resources on them. There's also another upgrade that says "localisation error" and costs 20,000 gold. I can spend this money but it doesn't do anything.
    -There is often lag/delay while playing, which can really screw up your performance in the mini games and fishing.
    -You need to skip certain cutscenes because they get stuck.
    -Fast travel will often get you stuck in an inaccessible part of the map until you teleport to a working checkpoint.
    Also there is zero depth to this game. It feels like there was the ambition to add more story, events and features to this game but they jumped the gun because this game generated some hype so they rushed it out the door.
    It's so frustrating because this game had potential and charm but I will NEVER play it again because I already finished it in this state and I've got enough to play afterwards. So now the devs wasted a great concept and a charming art style on a terrible experience for most people. When will they learn you only get to have one first impression?
    They should be downright ashamed to charge money for this experience. I know being a small indie dev is hard but you can't charge people to be part of a glorified beta test.

    1. I also had the bug where I could not get the license, but I waited until the end of the day and then turned off the game turned it back on and then it triggered for me.
    2. The mini games are a disappointment. Only the diagnosis mini games get harder and even that is by a very minimal amount. Everything else stays the same. And I totally agree the research mini game is really bad.
    3. Fishing is by far the best "mini game" but like you said there is no indication of progress and the fish get harder to catch yet give you the same trash reward. I just started not accepting the fishing quests.
    4. The grind is real... bad.
    5. I don't understand why there aren't just more teleportation points. One at the bottom of the town and one by Forrest's house would be amazing.
    6. I don't mind the combat being more chill. I don't particularly enjoy super hard combat in games and I personally wanted a more relaxing atmosphere.
    Bonus: Why are there no prizes for the arcade high scores?
    Why are there not more games?
    And why can't I romance Helene?
    Why are there so many events triggered by random chance? I should not have to feel like I need to walk around town and walk into every door to trigger and event, because I have had to do that multiple times.
    And MOST IMPORTANTLY why does the game animation randomly studder every so often. This is annoying and it also will absolutely screw you when you are in the middle of a mini game.
    PS. I really thought the NPC tracking by the dog was an amazing feature that I hope is added to other games like this.
    I really wanted to like this game and I think I still do enjoy it, but it is not work the money they are charging for it and it needs to be fixed.

    Potion Permit is a good game that I feel like it sadly suffers from a "death from a thousand cuts" issue. The main idea of being a chemist, making potions and other standard life sim stuff is done well in Potion Permit but there are so many small things done poorly with the game that it kind a makes it unfun. I agree with a lot of Zoe said in the vid, I really wish you focused more on making potions for people rather than forging every day and with everything respawning in the same place every day, you quickly just keep forging the same materials in the same fashion every time. And while I love "cozy" games, I do wish there was some kind of concern of failing something in this game. Patients will only leave and thus hurt your rep within the town after 4 days of ignoring them and combine this with the fact you only have to deal with 1 person every few days, it's almost impossible to fail or struggle which is a shame. Again, I love this game and I encourage people to buy it as it is fun, but are alot of minor tweaks that can be made to take this game from just okay to great.

    Upgrade.. I "wasted" my resources upgraded my home, and clinic to try to upgrade the workshop. That was annoying. I'm probably 10hrs in, and im kinda feeling whatever.. the one thing I think the game needs for me is a save anytime feature. I do not mind the pointless grind much, it is what it is, but I would like the ability to go, I need to quit now, save and be done. Instead I am forced to end the day, which big picture isn't a huge deal, but it is an annoyance. Mini games are all time wastes, would be better to not even have them. I like the game, but I'd also value it at $9.99

    I do like the idea and concept of the game, but navigation and the cursor speed is really really slow so trying to move it to the point you want to go or look at was rather annoying. and the game doesn't really utilize the second joystick, which could be used for more mini games. There is a bug where fast traveling in town would teleport you in the middle of a forest which I assume was where certain sprites were used to make the environments, but luckily it was only the warps in town, and didn't seem to affect the home warp or any others than the one by the ship and in the town center. What was also annoying is not getting multiple drops from foraging, hunting, or mining and it made it difficult to be able to get the supplies needed without running out of stamina using the abysmal energy recovery of food

    i bought this game on a whim on steam wanting to break away from my normal farming sim games that i love. i purchased the game about a little under 4 hours ago and already discovered a bug that caused me to have to restart my game (clearing the rock quarry to unlock the very first zone, my events werent triggering for some reason no matter what i did/tried to fix). before then there were little minor things that i had to replay days for, lat the very beginning of the game. ( i was talking to a npc and my dialogue options disappeared, couldnt see the time or my menu buttons, and i was unable to click on anything with my mouse or keyboard. had to ctrl+alt+delete to restart the game. also when i would complete quests in the beginning, my time in game started glitching) i had read the reviews on steam about the bugs but they were from when it first released so i thought that some things could have improved since then and to give it a chance. i agree with everything that’s in this video. has the potential to be such an amazing game but really just isn’t right now. i dont mind a game being small and simple, i’m a huge fan of the harvest moon games. the bugs make it almost unplayable and take away so much from the immersion. with a game like this in general i feel like immersion should be top priority but it is not. not only the bugs take away from that, but also the dynamics within relationships, the grinding for resources, and small amounts of lore/storytelling that could have been turned into something great. i do love the idea of this game and how it really truly is meant to be slow paced and leisurely (no calendar or time sensitive events). i hope this indie developer gets the support they need in order to fix what needs to be fixed so that this can be one of the greats. i would definitely return back happily and excitedly if so.
