  • I love crayfishing, especially when i pull up a net with a really big crayfish in it. I also need to make time to do more bushwalking, so in this video I go crayfishing, with a bit of bushwalking in between checking the nets.

    It was almost spring and the sun was shinning
    but Robbie was ready and he wasn’t whining.
    The ropes were long and the nets went in 1, 2 and 3
    Then the impatient check and he set them free.
    Off he went on a walk looking for rabbits but really it was a search for his healthy habits
    Thanks for sharing

      Thanks Kenneth. I'm in the same boat mate. I usually keep 1 or 2 feeds each season and release the rest. I really gooebthat a large percentage of these eggs survive to be legal crayfish in years to come.

    Do you know the estimate age of those big oversize crays? It would be interesting to know how fast crays grow and how long they live? They are one amazing looking animal, built like an armoured tank to do battle against big Murray Cod trying to eat them I'd guess?
    Thanks for the vids, if I cant always get the time to get out fishing I can always live the experience through your vids.

      Thanks mate, I'm not 100% sure of age, but I believe it takes these crayfish around 10 years to reach their minimum legal size if 10cm.

    The thing here in South Australia the fishery people are really slack they don't really stock up on anything for people to go fishing and there's no such thing as a fishing licence so people can just don't have any respect for the environment or the fish they just take undersized fish and don't give a crap it's really socks that South Australia fisheries don't get on board and reward the ones that do the right thing.

    Thanks Robbie great vid. I remember when l was younger my uncle would put a long wooden stake through a chicken carcass and put it in the river not far out from the edge to catch freshwater crayfish.

    They look awesome the spiney crays yet I've never seen one outside a magazine or video I've wanted to going chasing Murray cod in that neck of the woods for a while so I'll have to take a net & check the regulations even if it's not whatever it would be cool just to catch one & do the old Rex Hunt without getting me nose chomped lol..

      @robbiefishing  Год назад

      Haha I have done it. LOL
      You can only target then in winter mate. June, July and August.
      Sometimes I catch them in my fishing rod in May, September and October as a bycatch, but outside if that I rarely see them other than the ones that t I pick up while trout fishing.
