  • I'm crayfishing again. AND... I'm catching monster crayfish again. Another great day crayfishing was had in this video. The crayfishing started off quite slowly but picked up late afternoon and the crays were running hot.
In crayfishing terminology, the crayfish were 'marching' late in the afternoon.
I started craying at around 1:30pm and it wasn't until after 4pm that the crayfish started really biting well.
I love crayfishing. In fact, I would almost say that I am addicted to it.
We have strict crayfishing laws here in Australia, but that is for a reason. The crayfishing laws are in place to protect these beautiful spiny Murray crayfish which are quite vulnerable for generations to enjoy, just as we enjoy crayfishing today.
Do not get the Murray crayfish confused with the spiny freshwater crayfish found in the southern part of Victoria. They are two different species if crayfish are are both regulated under 2 different sets of rules and regulations.
Always know the crayfishing rules before you head out.

Robbie I’ve got a idea about leaving the cray nets in and I think it works, you leave them in short time the smaller crays from that area that don’t live in the best lairs of the river come out quickly and the longer you leave them in they smell it further and the big ones come out of the best lairs in the deepest and best spots to your meat, you can still get lucky with catching a big one by leaving it in for short times too.

Thank you so much Grumpy. 👍👍
I've never seen a crayfish with black claws. I've seen heaps of yabbies with black claws. These Murray crays always have white claws, although with the really small ones the claws can be similar colour to their body. Not white, but more of a light brown.
I have seen other species of crayfish up that way though. There's a few lesser known species in that area, perhaps the ones with the black claws were one of them?

I'm sorry to hear that buddy. I had to stop playing footy as a kid for the same reason. I missed heaps of school camps, camping trips with my family etc... all because of my asthma.
Thankfully these days it is much more under control than it was when I was a kid.
      Take care of yourself buddy.

Hahahaha I think it was made in China so we will blame them. LOL

@@robbiefishing Haha. Was just poking fun Robbie ;) Love the videos and the passion. I spent over two years backpacking in OZ fished from darwin all the way around to exmouth so I know all about not only the fish but the drinking too. More to the point who buys a tape measure that starts at 130 hahaha
