I will always have an emotional connection with this song. Not because of a past relationship. I first heard this in a KFC of all places, with my mum. We were on holiday and went to the cinema afterwards. I remember writing down the lyrics thinking “I have got to find out the name of this song!”. Later that night when we got back to our hotel I searched the lyrics and discovered Gaslight Anthem, I played this for weeks on end non-stop. It’s been one of my favourite songs ever since. Anyway, a couple of years later my mum passed away from cancer, she was 57. I was 19. This song always reminds me of that holiday which was one of the last we had together. I miss you and love you always mum ♥️
I love how much Brian is evolving and improving as a musician. I would have never imagined him doing a female perspective but my god he fucking nails it!
The worst offense is when people cover a song written in a female perspective and they switch it to a male perspective. Like God forbid - someone might think they're GAY!
Awsome that a Canadian girl who was born in Calgary & hails from Toronto is the eye candy for one of my favorite rock n roll bands new music video. XOXO Gossip Girl
This song is pure magic. This, in my opinion, is the single best song the band has ever recorded. The introductory notes backboned by acoustic chords is genius, and the lyrics are some of the most personal and affecting that Brian has ever written. 10/10.
Carlos 6 I agree, those songs were so rich and deep. That's the stuff he built up over his life, it was kinda spent a couple albums ago. Which is fine, probably why he wants to move on.
You can hear the jangling's of the guitarist from a band member The Byrds, Roger McGuinn. Mr Easy Street himself,, Bruce, is at the soulful open influence to this incredible band. The Gaslight Anthem sounds burn truthful to guide our hearts to what great music is all about, the freedom of music.. If Graham Parson, are Grievous Angel, was still here, he'd be proud of these boy's. He is in spirit and sound through this talented group. This is the new Country Alternative. Top Notch.
peepsk771 Bit a Bruce. Bit of the Byrds. The opening jingle jangling guitar. Roger inspired. and some of the honesty of The Flying Burrito Brothers truth and soul. Everything to like. They have some really other good songs. Check out The Horrible Crows." I 'll take it out to the streets for somebody else to admire."
Good video, great song. I saw these guys in Denver in September opening for Rise Against. I wish they could have played another 30-45 mins and Rise Against play less than they did. All the 16 year olds had no clue who Gaslight was but all the adults there were loving them.
i just love every song this band makes, ive followed the stereophonics since late 90s found the gaslight 2 years ago. now i have 2 all time favorite bands that i just love every song of...thanks
24 Meets Gaslight Anthem... My life is now complete lol. Seriously nearly died of joy when I saw this. Can't put into words how awesome this is!! I probably need to get out more :-)
@@robm2741 Thanks. I had forgotten about it. My life's pretty tough too. Lose of loved ones, loss of home, mental health struggles. Brian is a beautiful lyricist, i hope his songs bring you the same consolation and sense of being understood that they do me. Stay strong brother. Life can take many things from you but it can never take away the honor that comes from never giving up!
I was on the flight from Buenos Aires to London on the 24th of december where I got bored of the silly movies of which I could choose. So I opened the given music files, one of 'em was The Gaslight Anthem. Never heard about it before but loved it from the first moment!
10/10. fantastic. masterpiece. and i like the fact that it's from a woman's point of view. as the band said in an interview, "there's not enough songs from the point of view of a woman." (i think that's the correct quote)
Amazing thank you for bringing good music to this world unlike lil wayne, tpain, snoopdog, niki ninaj and other shit!! this song is amazing.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it is supposed to be the blip (cigarette burn) which signals to the projectionist to change the film reel. She is imagining she is in the movie, so it's a nice touch.

Love to you and your mum.
Damn, powerful stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Music, a single song can bring up so many emotions. What a song for you to bring up such highs and lows. RIP to your mum
Peace man. Well said.
Finally someone gets him like I do! Johnny Reznicks secret band 💕
"I'll take it out to the streets for somebody else to admire."
That verse right there. 👌🏽
Such an amazing band. I'm so glad they're finally getting recognized on the radio and everything.

@@Jackzay90 you for sure wouldnt want that no.
He also has a song called Rosemary and Vincent where he sings from the female POV, as well as a cover of Katy Perrys Teenage Dream
Was waiting for this. Been a Gaslight fan since Sink or Swim. I'm glad my generation has a Boss the,way Bruce was for my Pops' generation.

"You know I think I will grow my hair back out." Amazing line. That's one of those lines that really resonates.
I had my first operation in my life this morning and I swear, I dreamed of listening to this song while I was asleep. :D
Couldn't agree more and go see bands live as much as you can! Gaslight Anthem live is worth the money and time. :)
Today was the perfect day to watch this -- Proves I deserve better
i love how their videos tell such awesome stories. i live a gaslight appreciation life.

+Daniel Day i must agree. oh sha lalala oh sha lalal oh sha lala oh sha lala is like the most personal he could have written lol
Daniel Day No way. American Slang and 59 sound have multiple songs on each album that are better.
Agreed, it's genius
Great expectations is a different level to this

This is one of those songs you hear once and love it right off the bat.
5 stars not only for the music, Elisha Cuthbert

Every time I'm down and out. Basically every single day.
Sorry to reply to a five year old comment lmao 😅

Oh god the first time I heard this album I prayed this song would be a single and now it is :D yaaaaaaay
Remember Elisha Cuthbert's days in the series 24? She was so young. Weirrrd.
I remember her from popular mechanics for kids in the 90's.
Just heard of them a few weeks ago as they're supporting The Killers at Wembley along with James this June which I'm going to. They sound great :)
Two of my favourite things in life: Elisha Cuthbert and The Gaslight Anthem (and one of their very best songs). Perfect.
shes stunning
Gaslight Anthem have fucking EXPLODED this year. Guy's are getting really big now.
So badass!
So much love for Gaslight ^_^
I think it is supposed to be the blip (cigarette burn) which signals to the projectionist to change the film reel. She is imagining she is in the movie, so it's a nice touch.
Video gets across the whole point of the song perfect! Exactly how I'd imagined it should look!
