I stumbled across this song again today, and it reminded me just how crucial it was in keeping me alive. The tough lyrics paired with the positive vibes provided me with something to hold onto, even in the depths of 360° abandonment. I'm truly grateful for the strength it gave me during some of my darkest moments four years ago.
These songs have been such a huge part of my life. Between you (The Gaslight Anthem & The Horrible Crows) and Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls you sang me through my divorce and into the next part of my life. You'll never see this, but thanks for all of it. - Jason
Brian Fallon is the only musician who writes songs that consistently feel like they might as well be about my OWN life, I don't know how in the hell he does it, but he does, every single time. I have to stop introducing girlfriends to him and TGA, cuz the songs become tainted when we inevitably break up ;-). Thanks be to all that gods that were and are for the existence of this man.
This dude has amazing songs and a raw power behind his words. It sux hes under rated. If he was peeforming in the 80s he would of been a star. He gives me a Bob Seger vibe. And man thats a good thing.
Lyrics: Stacy, I'd like to take you to a movie In a world without a death wish On a night under the fireworks in heaven Oh but Stacy Baby, you can take me anywhere Because I get a lot of low downs So just put me in the cold ground and visit Oh, but what if What if my soul was still trembling? Oh would you put your black dress on and visit my bones? And bring my football top and a scarf for the cold Playing melancholy songs that somehow made us (Feel a whole lot better) Well, I waited on the kingdom come and the trumpet blow In the cold, hard ground there's some letters you wrote Would I get any rest from the wreck that I was with the living? Or would you just go on? Stacy, I never thought I'd miss the small talk I never knew the gift the day was I just used to hear the time clock Whistle stop Sleep and get back up again Stacy, I never thought I'd miss the hard love I wish I took the time to miss you While we were sitting only right there under heaven Oh, but what if What if my soul was still trembling? And would you put your black dress on and visit my bones? And bring my football top and a scarf for the cold Playing melancholy songs that somehow made us (Feel a whole lot better) Well, I waited on the kingdom come and the trumpet blow In the cold, hard ground there's some letters you wrote Would I get any rest from the wreck that I was with the living? Or would you just go on? Could you promise me something if you find someone? That you'll forget me not Never feel too much Even if they do all the things that I couldn't do for you And I'll promise you something if I find someone That I'll forget you not Never feel too much Even if they do all the things that I couldn't do for you Oh, but what if What if your soul was still trembling? And I would put my black suit on and visit your bones And bring a football top and a play that you wrote And an English song by a band that you love Here comes the sun, little darling And the kingdom come and the trumpet blow In the cold, hard ground there's some letters you wrote Would you get any rest from the wreck that I was with the living? Or would you just go on? Would you put your black dress on and visit my bones? And bring my football top and a scarf for the cold (please forget me not) Playing melancholy songs that somehow made us Feel a whole lot better (would you just go on?) Well, I waited on the kingdom come and the trumpet blow In the cold, hard ground there's some letters you wrote (oh please forget me not) Would I get any rest from the wreck that I was with the living?
Talented group of guys. Just found out about them (and the gaslight anthem) and really like their sound. The drummer has an amazing voice too. Wish you all the success possible!!!!
Amber Starbuck best show ever. TGA was incredible and Brian alone was just as powerful. Seeing him again in April. Idk where you live but you have to find a way
As a Staci and a long time Gaslight Anthem/Brian Fallon fan, this song makes me so happy. I've had to endure jokes about my mom for as long as I can remember, and it's all been worth it now that I have this song.
This is awesome! The band is tight, and each instrument is well balanced. It doesn't sound fake, they could probably do this live. Such a catchy tune and lyrics.
I was there at the beginning. I was a internet nerd searching for punk revolution. Then I found The Gaslight Anthem. Brian Fallon can sing anything and make me shake...Lol.
This is a great video. Awesome job to capture the audience. I assume some, if not all of the crowd were Brian Fallon fans. Some woman ( and man ) knew every word. It was very cool. But im sure some didnt and were just extras. Hope at the end of the shoot that they became a fan of the song. Its another great song from Brian Fallon.
all were fans and volunteers. We had only a few days to learn the lyrics. The song was only released a few day prior to the shoot and it was all fans that were a part of it. We weren't given the lyrics, we just had to learn them in short time from listening to it.
Everyone in this video is ridiculously good looking haha and they look like they’re having the best time. When Brian put the word out for this video shoot, I wanted to go so bad but couldn’t make it.
Great job! I know these people are mostly actors but they remind me of the best concert I've ever been to... gaslight standing in the very back dancing like I was at madonna show.
Listening to Brian Fallon solo career it makes sense why the band took a hiatus to do other projects. An only change I see with Brian Fallon solo career is he is more open with his christianity.
What an awesome song! I have an ex-girlfriend with the same name. I’m really tempted to call her up and just scream, “STACY!!” and then hang up. Yeah. I’m gonna do that right now! Thanks, Brian Fallon.
Anyone listening in 2023? Brian Fallon is such a great artist! 🤘❤️
Just discovering. I'm mostly a punk rocker, but I'll listen to this guy! I love the solo acoustic stuff I saw him do tonight. Love a truly good song.

K. Brown it's because we are all of the same kind my brother.
Check out Frank Turner 👌
Because of how well he writes. Every song can be interpreted in different ways, even if they have nothing to do with Brian's original message.
Them failed relationships can't take the songs away from you mate
He and Brandon Flowers are the best songwriters of this generation
Brian, rest easy, your writings continue to soothe our souls. And it's 2024.
I am so infinitely grateful that this man exists. 🙌

Banger and half. Fallon is eternal.

Amazing songwriter. He's one of my favorites! Every song is written with depth and such an overpowering feeling. Go Brian!
This just randomly popped up on Tidal this summer for me. Way out of what I usually listen to, but this is great. It's like my most listened now.
