I love how Byleth just brings the squad in to fight the hands. It was really enjoyable to just see these two get jumped, especially when they kinda just kill most creative theming with Classic Mode Runs.
The fun fact is that Byleth bringing the whole squad to the fight is a reference on how FE works, recruiting allies and fight alongside them
@@micheledelloglio5820 would be interesting if the opponent of one battle would fight alongside you in the next. could help with easing that massive difficulty of byleth classic mode
@@Underworlder5 Personally Byleth’s classic mode is doable solo with the only problematic round being the 2 corrins because how they hell do they have such good synergy?
@@firewolf950tfwgaming7 that is what gets me too. the first couple fights are easy. the awakening cast are slightly harder, but are easy to isolate. the corrins? huge difficulty spike. they outshine you in basically any strategy, whether you try zoning or going up close, and byleths poor throws combined with the stamina setup makes cheesing arguably more difficult than fighting normally. the battle against the other byleths are slightly easier, since they tend to restrict themselves to each weapon (none of which aim upwards, making them susceptible to attacks from above, and two of them are rather slow and telegraphed), but nerves usually get me at that time
might have gone on a tangent here, but sheesh, that difficulty spike. i find the steve fight in norfair hard as well, but that can at least be cheesed with a well placed black hole and up tilt spam
I wish they tried doing it with persona 5
Joker's classic mode allies are a reference to him capturing the shadows and turning them into his personas since that's what happens in the game. Just wanted to clear this up, great video overall!
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. The people that get their hearts changed don’t team up with the Phantom Theives.
Persona isn’t my speciality and I knew there was a good chance I’d miss something. Thanks for clearing it up!
@@Aaronitmar And it's not evil people, it's corrupted people. And only Futaba, who also has her own heart willingly changed, joins the Phantom Thieves.
It also reminded me of persona 4 where your friends become your party members once you beat their shadows.
Similarly, that isnt Dark Meta Knight, just an evil looking skin. Weird they didnt use DMK
Correction on Joker, he's not turning people good, he's taking the Shadows as his Personas, like he does with regular enemies.
Yes, he's turning the Evil Shadows into the Good Personas. The only thing Aaron missed is the reference to Joker "recruiting" Personas to grant him their powers.
It could also be a Persona 4 reference when you have to fight future party members Shadow Selves, so that they weaken and they accept dark secret and obtain their persona’s.
@@maskedgamerjoker6148 na, thats just the battle against the links.
O mean, the negotioations have ever been one of the most caracteristic thing of Megami Tensei
Off topic funny side note: Xander Mobus gets to kick his own ass in Joker’s Classic Mode boss.
Joker: "I don't want to fight you"
Master and Crazy Hand: "We wouldn't want to fight us neither"
To paraphrase a comment I once saw someone somewhere say,
"You can play as Xander Mobus fighting Xander Mobus and Xander Mobus while Xander Mobus congratulates Xander Mobus for beating Xander Mobus and Xander Mobus."
Context: Joker, The Announcer and the Hands are all voiced by Xander Mobus.
Also, Banjo & Kazooie kick their own asses at the beginning of their route
Xander Mobius doesn't voice joker, actually, neither in smash nor in his original game.
Rather the announcer voice is used for localisation into english
Details missed in Joker’s Classic mode:
-Joker isn’t necessarily “turning people good”, but rather taking the Shadows as his own Personas.
-The fight with Kirby uses Kalos Pokémon League alongside with the music being “Aria of the Soul”, which is a stand-in for the recurring Velvet Room location.
-The blue Kirby ally and the twin Samus’ are fought on the Persona 3 version of Mementos, with Mass Destruction playing in the background. Aigis and Metis both originate from Persona 3, and the Blue Kirby is just for visual consistency.
-The fight against the Dark Links is on the Persona 4 version of Mementos, with Reach out to the Truth playing in the background. The Fierce Deity Link could be a reference to Izanagi’s Ultimate form.
The yellow Meta Knight is once again for visual consistency with Persona 4.
-The Master/Crazy hand fight in mementos makes sense here, as both they and Joker are voiced by Xander Mobus, aka the Smash announcer.
-The Fierce Deity Link coulbe be a reference to Izanagi’s Ultimate form.
-The fight with Kirby uses Kalos Pokémon League alongside with the music being “Aria of the Soul”, which is a stand-in for the recurring Velvet Room location.
Also that's not dark Meta Knight simply meta Knight with a black mask and red eyes dark Meta Knight is one of meta knights alt costumes (the mask with the scratch on the right eye and silver sword)
I thought dark Kirby was black frost and blue Kirby was Jack Frost when I went through the classic mode but maybe I’m wrong
I don't know why but I really like the image of Joker trying to take Erdricks face in the thumbnail.
No.
@@BamBamo hey look, it's the guy

"Show me your true form."
The end of Byleth's route may also be a reference to their ability to recruit the members of the other houses in 3 Houses. Something something, Crest of Flame gives +infinity charisma.
I’d say joker’s classic route was more likely referencing how joker has the ability to recruit the shadows he fights and add them to his repertoire of personas rather than just the shadows turning good. The character references were probably correct though Idk.
At the very least Incineroar is definitely meant to reference Shido
The Aigis/Metis one I'm unsure of but the details do make it seem intentional
Erdrick’s fight taking place in the volcano is actually a reference to the opening of Dragon Quest 3, where the hero’s father is seen fighting along the rim of an active volcano!
oH hey, someone said it first! Yes!
I never played 3 but I've seen that scene so many times in GBC and NES. So awesome

I agree, i love the fire emblem franchise. But the sad part is, this franchise has such a weapon variety, but we only get the sword characters.
@@Girjon05 Good thing Byleth is unique.
@@theghosttm8245 "So, Byleth, wich part of the Weapon Triangle you wanna use?"
Byleth "Yes"
Byleth is damn fun and has arguably the best Classic mode of FE characters
to be fair, while FE has great fighter and music representation, it kind of gets shafted everywhere else. fairly generic stages until garreg mach monastery, only one item to its name, and surprisingly few assist trophies for such a character driven series (the other nintendo series with a massive roster, pokemon, has the pokeball item to show it off). one of my hopes for the series is actually to cut a few fighters in exchange for massively increasing the assist trophy number. some see it as a fighter graveyard, but i see it as an honorable mention, and allows characters to fight in smash despite not being playable
girjon, that is why i want hector to be playable. he avoids the typical swordfighter stigma, is a fan favorite among the FE community, and thanks to FE heroes, remains relevant in present day. i feel the only people who would complain about him are those who just hate FE in general

I think the fight against sonic, mega man, and pac man is supposed to represent 3rd party characters since terry himself is a 3rd party, I could be wrong but that’s just what I think.
Sort of a "Team Mascot" or "Team 3rd Party" situation. Not to mention, all three have appeared in fighting games outside of Smash (especially Mega Man)
True
6:38 @Aaronitmar The Dragon Quest III hero's name was confirmed by Sakurai in the Hero Presentation that he said his name as Arusu while Erdrick is more of the title of the descendant plus, Eleventh Hero is called Eleven.
in the case of eleven, he is mainly referred by his title of luminary, so i can understand primarily calling him that (of course this is because DQ XI is voice acted, and so has to avoid referring to him by name, but it still counts)
His name is Arus in many pieces of media, Sakurai just said it was for the sake of diferentiating them.
But many still refer to him as Erdrick or Roto.
You know if Dragon Quest was a mega hit in the U.S. like it was in Japan, do you think we’d have a soccer riot during E3 2019 when Hero and Banjo were revealed?
Debatable. The heroes make the most sense but I think some people would prefer some of the other characters or the monsters if given the option. Unless they are very passionate about the series then they would be hyped either way.

Re: Joker's classic mode
I'm actually kinda surprised you didn't mention the mechanic of taking certain Shadows as your own Persona. As a Persona protagonist, Joker has the ability to have more than one Persona, which are primarily gained by convincing an enemy to join you. This is significant because most others only get one if any. From the way each new round seems to feature at least one former enemy from the previous round, it seems a lot like that's what Joker's doing.
I don’t think Rathalos was added to plant’s route for “being a new boss”. By that logic, Dracula, Marx, and Ganon would also apply. I think Rathalos was chosen for three potential reasons.
1. Since both the Plant and Rathalos are not specific characters, and are more common enemies in their series.
2. Rathalos is not a new fighter, but he is a new assist trophy and the only one who is also a boss.
3. Perhaps a Monster Hunter was planned as a newcomer but cut off during development. So maybe Rathalos was placed as the boss of the route to fill in the Monster Hunter representation.
Also, you aren’t technically wrong with Diddy AND Donkey originating from Rare, since the DK of today is technically the grandson of the OG DK, who is now Cranky Kong.
While Temple might be the stage you fight Marth and Roy on in Melee, it is also possible that since you only fight Marth here, it might be a reference to chapter 23 of Shadow Dragon, where Marth and his army must climb the a tower in order to obtain Falchion from Gharnef and his many illusionary doppelgängers. The architecture and background of Temple reminds me of that chapter, so this is just my speculation. I’m probably talking out my ass on this one.
Also, I’m in full agreement on Hero’s route being the best in the pass. Good job on the video.
Actually, the new boss means that Rathalos is the NEWEST boss to debut. Out of all 7 bosses in the game, Rathalos debuts the last. Just like how Dracula is chosen as Pac-Man's boss as he debuts the first out of all 7 bosses.
Edit, for context, Dracula debuts in 1986, Marx debuts in 1996, OOT Ganon debuts in 1998, Master Hand debuts in 1999, Giga Bowser and Crazy Hand debuted in 2001, and Rathalos debuts in 2004.
@@emanueltheodorus1056 SEVEN bosses? I see you forgot Galleom exists. He would be the latest introduction, at 2008. So purely by that logic, Pirahna Plant’s boss fight should be against Galleom. (Well, technically Galeem and Dharkon count as the latest debuts, in 2018, but they seem to be exclusive to World of Light, and haven’t appeared in Classic mode yet) However, even then, Aaronitmar said one of the newest bosses to the Smash series, and Rathalos is two (or three, depending upon how you see Smash 3DS) entries newer to Smash than Galleom.
@@zentendoxn8955 Right, how the hell did I forgot about Galleom, I'm so fucking stupid.
I guess besides newest to debut, it also means the newest to the series. And that cuts it into Dracula, Marx, Ganon, and Rathalos. And Rathalos is the newest to debut out of all of them, so that's the reason it's in the route.
Rathalos was chosen because it's representing a wholly new universe (Monster Hunter).
1.- Master and Crazy Hand, Giga Bowser and Galleom are original Smash bosses and already appeared in prior Smash games. Also, Giga Bowser is based directly on Bowser, whose universe was already represented in the Smash series with him, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Dr, Mario, Rosalina, and Bowser Jr., and is also referenced in this route with Daisy and the very protagonist you're playing as.
2.- Ganon is from The Legend of Zelda which was already represented in prior games with Link, Zelda, Sheik, Young and Toon Link, and Ganondorf.
3.- Marx is from Kirby, which was already represented in prior games with Kirby, King Dedede and Meta Knight.
4.- Dracula is from Castlevania, which is represented for the first time in Smash thanks to Ultimate. But Castlevania is already referenced in this Classic Mode route with Simon and Richter.
5.- Galeem and Dharkon, on top of being ruled out for the same reason as the bosses mentioned at the start, are exclusive to Adventure Mode to begin with.
That leaves Rathalos as the only boss from an universe that was neither represented beforehand with any character, nor in this game otherwise. So it was chosen as the final boss for Piranha Plant's route.
4:51 You forgot to mention it's Xander Mobus vs Xander Mobus.

I think a cool idea of Byleth’s classic mode would be having him fight characters that represent students in 3 houses, for example, lucina in her golden costume to represent ingrid, Gannodorf representing Dedue, the pink haired inkling to represent hapi, Simon to represent balthus, Ness to represent ashe, etc
Is it safe to assume that your favorite route is Blue Lions?
Also it's funny that you mention 2 Cindered Shadow characters as well, since I believe the Byleth Smash reveal was released months before CS, so that probably wouldn't be possible.
I think Hilda fits the pink haired inkling better than Hapi.
Palutena and Athena seemingly even have the same inspiration; the Greek(?) goddess Pallas-Athena. When turned into Japanese, the name Pallas-Athena becomes Paruthena, then that turned into English becomes Palutena.
Pallas-Athena is Greek yes.
Though Pallas-Athena is essentially a subset of Athena, which I think mostly the Spartans worshipped if I’m not mistaken.

I think Palutena in Japanese was meant to be a portmanteau of Parthenon and Athena, but don't quote me on that.

A little detail about Terry's Boss Fight is that, if the player is using the P1 Costume, Blue Terry is the chosen costume to replace default Terry. This is both because the blue costume is Terry's default alternate costume in FF/KOF and also because Blue Terry is implied to be a different character in Fatal Fury, who faces off against Terry in mirror matches during his arcade mode in several FF games.
8:53 the fight could also be a reference to the trailer Banjo and Kazooie was announced.

The Terry thing is a recurring joke in Fatal Fury. There you have a special fight with another Terry and has a special dialogue for it
2:30 Don't forget that the Persona series is, in fact, based off of the Shin Megami Tensei series.
Just a couple thing you may have missed:
2:01 This pairing of K Rool and Chrom may be a reference to the fact that they were both relegated to Mii Fighter outfits in Smash 4.
4:29 Similar to the Aigis and Metis reference on the Persona 3 Mementos section, the Links may be a Persona 4 reference. In Persona 4, you specifically fight shadow versions of your party members, similar to Link having to fight a Shadow version of himself across the series. In addition, Fierce Deity Link becoming your ally likely references the protagonist's ultimate Persona in P4.
8:26 Possibly unintentional, but the choice to have Fox and Falco in lieu of other potential pairs (Mario/Luigi, Robin/Chrom, Ken/Ryu, etc) is likely a reference to the fact that Rare created a Star Fox game (Star Fox Adventures, originally known as Dinosaur Planet). The pairing in particular may also be a loose reference to fact that Falco comes to Fox's rescue at the end of Adventures and helps him take down Andross.
10:19 Likely unintentional, but you could also call them "Team X Zone", as the 3DS Project X Zone series features characters from specifically across Sega, Capcom, and Bandai-Namco (though none of these characters, in particular, appear, they are the mascots for their associated company).
6:48 is probably a reference to Alefgard in DQ3 which became the dark realm when Zoma took over the land. There is also a volcano near Jipang, a Japanese-inspired city, that has a similar theme to castle siege where you fight the multi-headed dragon, Orochi.
Edit: also, I love the part of Banjo's classic mode where they fight DK and Diddy. It just feels nice.
That intermission at 11:20 was gold xD
A neat little thing in Byleth's Classic route is that Roy's fight takes place on Arena Ferox, which is from Fire Emblem Awakening, which is were Roy gets part of his Sm4sh redesign from: his Einherjard (DLC card fighter thing) design from Awakening.
For Terry's final fight it can also be a reference for team Fatal Fury in KOF which consists of Joe Higashi, Andy Bogard, and Terry Bogard. They are represented by Ryu, Ken, and Terry respectively
"Team Retro"
Sonic Pac-Man Mega Man
are a nod to the fact that these 3 characters had a game on the Neo Geo Pocket Color console
The presence of all the other fire emblem fighters in Byleth’s classic mode can be a reference to the recruit mechanic where enemies you fight become your ally.
Exatly, confirming Byleth as the true representative of FE in Smash. He has the two "main" mechanics, weapon triangle and recruitment
I know you've already been cleared up on the shadows thing for Joker's route, but I've also noticed that the fight with Incineroar probably also references the Beast of Human Sacrifice, the golden lion Shido rides in the first part of the fight.
Great video!
Piranha Plant's Classic Mode is my favorite of the bunch. I dig fighting every one of the base newcomers and Rathalos is my #1 boss in Ultimate.
Banjo-Kazooie and Terry come close.
Hero is good for the references, although Mega Charizard's appearance as part of the final boss throws me off on occasion. Likewise, I dislike the penultimate round of Byleth's route because of how often the AI spams the special moves.
There is actually a small reference with the ryu ken and terry fight at the end
The blue terry is representing player two terry
or for most KoF games the default alt costume selected when there are two of the same characters
there can only be one
For Joker it’s more of its the monsters you fight and the reason why they are fighting with you is because it’s your Persona now as Shadows can be Personas
Whoever draws these thumbnails is a great artist
Aaronitmar should make a new concepts series on Custom Classic Modes
A detail that I think you missed with Joker's classic mode is the fact that the alternate visual themes for Mementos also line up with the battles. The Samus/Dark Samus fight uses the Persona 3 version of the stage, which is the game that both Aegis and Metis come from. And the Dark Link fight uses the Persona 4 theme, which is probably a reference to the fact that in that game, you fight the shadows of the protagonists (much like how the Dark Link battles operate in the Zelda series).
The Samus/Dark Samus in Joker's route is also on the P3 version of Mementos, as well as the 3 link battle being on P4. So the Aigis/Metis makes more sense and the Shadow Link is basically a proper P4 boss fight, saving Link by defeating his shadow(you could also argue Link stands in for Yu Narukami as his hair with the shadow and in great deity are white/grey and the shadow Yu from the anime takes the form of MULTIPLE TVs with Yu's face appearing on them)
Since the song for terry's classic mode final battle is a reference to the encounter with ryo in fatal fury 2, it can also be a reference to how that encounter was the first crossover ever in fighting games
8:53 no, rare CREATED Donkey Kong... The Third. The previous is young Cranky Kong
I can't wait for Kazuya and what his Classic Mode route will be like!
Edit: Okay, I did NOT expect this to get so many likes.
I hope for the Boss Fight they either have Ganon as Ogre or have a battle with a Smash Fighter to represent a Boss Fight in Tekken like maybe Kazuya Vs. Kazuya like Tekken 2.
I bet the whole theme will be about the Mishima bloodline, and one of the fights will be Joker referencing Jin.

I was the most excited for when hero got to smashed because of how big of a dragon quest fan I am not to mention just getting all the references just makes me love how much time and effort they actually put into it
Also, Sonic, Pac-Man and Mega Man all had games on Neo Geo Pocket Color, possibly a reason as to why they are in a team in Terry's route
11:20 this bit could've been replaced with a quick cut to Kazuya's trailer followed by a silent "...oh"
Side note regarding the "Dark" Incineroar fight: the background music is Rivers in the Desert, making the reference to Shadow Shido even stronger.
10:20 Team Retro? I always called them was Team Icons because there Video Game Icon from different companies.
for Joers Route: Samus and Dark Samus reference, Aigis and medis are characters from Persona 3. Persona 3 had a mostly blue Color sheme, which is also present in Kirby costume and in the stage itself. Also the theme in the fight "mass Destruction" is from P3 too so it would make a lot of sense lol
For the Byleth Fight: the black and white Corrin could also be a reference to Corrins Secondary Class: Hoshidan Noble and Nohr Noble. In any official Artworkt for those two classes, the Male Corrin is the one wearing the Hoshidan Noble Outfit, while female orrin is the one with the Norian Armor class
10:51 It might just be a coincidence and I just see reference where there is absolutely not, but the 3 characters in the background may reference Ryu and Ken too. Ryo, as you said, is a direct hommage to Ryu, the girl on the left (sorry for the names I havn’t played KOF enough) wears closes kind of similar to Ryu’s one, and the girls on the right is a blond « mid-hair » character wearing red, just like Ken.
Again, I can totally gone to far, but Sakurai and the Smash team seem to really really love Fatal Fury/KOF series and go and put a lot of attention and details in all the stuff that came alongside Terry inclusion
Terry's was the best route from Fighter Pass1.
Also, Pacman-Megaman-Sonic team could be a reference to the Project X Zone games on 3ds. Those games were a collab between bamco, capcom, and sega. (With Nintendo cheapin in too)
Honestly, Terry and Hero's Classic Mode routes are my favorites in the game. They're so fun.
About King K. Rool/Chrom's fight in Piranha Plant's route: this fight, much like the final boss of Donkey Kong Country (K. Rool's origin game) takes place on a pirate ship.
I think the reason why Donkey Kong and Diddey Kong fight, was less because they were both made by rare, and more because banjo was originally just one of the characters you could be in Diddey Kong Racing, and then eventually got his own game in Banjo-Kazooie.
Also on joker when he’s fighting samus and dark samus can be a nod to Labrys and shadow Labrys from persona 4 arena, when samus is on your team her suit is the same colors as Labrys
6:48 this is a reference to Ortega's 'death' in the beginning cutscene of DQ3
yes let’s go
i’m a huge persona fan (evidently)
so i’ve been waiting for this
Let’s test that
Who’s the most tragic protagonist?
@@makotoyuki345 morgana
@@makotoyuki345 You, now back to the seal.
In Joker’s route, he teams up with opponents from the last route which is a reference to him recruiting Personas. Also Light Meta Knight is a reference to Izanagi
I feel like the Banjo fight against DK and Diddy could've been a reference to Banjo's reveal trailer
I read many comments saying that the shadows joining you to the battle in Joker's classic mode is in reference of how Joker recruits shadows to personas in his game, which is incorrect: changing from dark colors to light colors contradicts this statement because shadows don't change their appearance when they join you as personas, and the fact that the giant black Kirby who represents Black Frost turns into a small blue Kirby, representing Jack Frost, confirms that Joker is stealing the evilness of the shadows rather than recruiting then.
Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man were considered the 'guest' fighters of Sm4sh.
I actually think Master and Crazy Hand in Jokers route are a better representation of the final boss of Royal than Yaldabaoth since that boss actually used their fists yo attack primarily. We know from Joker having the Grappling Hook before Royal was confirmed to have it, Sakurai was given info on Royal before the public like Gamefreak does with Pokemon in Smash.
No one gonna talk about how PERFECTLY 10:50 syncs with the music in the background? Godlike editing
12:21 man you didn’t need to disrespect Ike like that
I know he was getting footage for this anyway, but if I happened to record me doing that I'd find any excuse possible to include it in a video
@@megame5573 the funny thing is that this is actually the preferred way to fight him. byleth has a very easy time gimping ikes recovery (appropriately enough with attacks like F air, F smash or side B, while lances beat swords in FE games)
honestly great to see people recognize persona 3 and not just p5
Honestly seeing smash RUclipsrs get sponsored by Disney makes me smile for some reason.
I wabt to see fighter pass 2 next as shorts
I think the battle with Erdrick is refrencing the Ortega battle at the beginning of DQ3. Sense that battle has Erdricks father fight a winged demon on top of a volcano.
This, or it could be a reference to Erdrick travelling to Alefgard in DQ3. The Castle Siege stage sort of travels underground which could allude to the way you get to Alefgard in the game, but it's pretty vague
For the dark Link fight in Jokers route. It could be a reference where in P4 you have to fight the shadow version of you soon-to-be party members.
sonic, megaman and pacman were the 3 base third party characters in smash 4, they're team 3rd-party
correction: terrys fight with sonic, megaman and pacman, references two things.
1. sonic, megaman and pacaman were the 3rd parties characters that appeared on the base roster of smash 4
2. sonic, megaman and pacman are by far the characters that represent the videogame industry apart of mario. meaning that is fighting videogame icons
Note on Byleth’s route: if you choose the Edelgard, Claude, or Dimitri color, the CPU will NOT change. Only fight to do this.
This also happens with Hero when you fight regular DQ11 Hero and tony red Robin.
Oh, this is gonna be sweet to see was this December provides!
The thumbnail.
Joker no stop. Poor Erdrick
I like Every Route on Fighter Pass 1
I love Persona... So Many Shadows....
Terry is all Fighters...
And Byleth's ending is so Awesome....
Mans out here gettin sponsored by literally Disney
Of note for the Sonic, Mega Man, and PAC-MAN fight, these are the only three characters other than the fighters in Terry’s Final Round that were on NEO GEO POCKET
Hero’s Classic mode is literally him fighting in a mirror match 4 times.
The banjo fight against donkey and diddy kong is also a refrence to the banjo anouncement trailer
I like how Aaronitmar finish the video off with the main music of “Fire Emblem Three houses”
06:39 I don't think that's the refference for DQ3. I think it's more likely to be one of this 2 options: The fight with the boss Orochi which is located in a cave full of magma, or the volcano where his father died and later you throw the sword to open the way. That makes much more sense
by the way that's not a spoiler. He literally dies on the opening scene before you start the game lol
spoiler
Idk if it's an illusion, but you meet Ortega being killed in Zoma's palace by an Orochi re-skin. Also, a lot of the people in Alefgard comment about recent experiences with Ortega, as if he survived at the volcano where you throw the mountain cleaver later in the game, only to die in front of Erdrick's eyes.
@@papaG6423 yeah, that's the spoiler I didn't want to mention
.
.
.
that you see that he didn't die actually but you don't know it until almost the end of the game
@@retelefe spoiler
that scene very forced imo. It doesn't really add anything other than hearing Ortega's apology for failing his son. He doesn't even get to actually meet his son in Zoma's palace. If it was an illusion to get Erdrick rattled, then it would have made more sense. The twist lasts for like a minute until Ortega is dead again
I think joker's classic mode is super clever. And it is definitely not what you said. It's a reference to how you fight and take demons/shadows as your allies. And (may be wrong) pretty sure the banjo vs donkey and diddy stage is still a reference to click clock woods. They're all in order of how you'd discover them too.
8:54 the donkey Kong on the left is now Cranky Kong and the one on the right is Donkey Kong III, son of Donkey Kong Jr.
