冒険心が英国人が祖先から受け継いで来た性格の一部であることが母娘の会話からよく分かる映像でした。よかったです。「なぜそうなのか」と訊かれて答えられない自分の好み、行動、趣味の多くは先祖代々受け継がれてき血がそうさせているのだと最近強く思います。その血は子孫に次々と受け継がれ生きて行く。その血を受け継ぐ役割を果たし、かつその時代を生きた自分の存在を天の眼から見て感じた時、最も幸せな時間になります。

英国も多人種国家になってしまったけど、世紀単位で世界の覇者であったからこそにじみ出る”らしさ”に接すると、なぜかホッとする。英国の鉄道博物館に新幹線の初号が展示されたときには、日本の鉄道関係者のみならず、日本国民も歓んだと思います。鉄道発祥の国に里帰りしたような気がしたのでしょう。グローバル化は世界の要請かもしれないが、国がその国らしさを失ってしまったら、絵筆をバケツの水で洗ったら最後には必ずなる、キレイとは云えない薄紫色の世界になると思います。違いを面白がれる世界になれば、と。世界の同化は統治には好都合であっても、人類の人間間としてはつまらなくなるだけですね。
