I agree, it's strange for a Bon Jovi song to be about anyone in particular because Jon normally likes for anyone to be able to identify with it. But in an interview with Jon & Richie in 2007 they were asked about Whole Lot of Leaving and Richie (rather happily) said "Jon wrote that about me!" And Jon said "You see your best friend going through this hell, and I just woke up one day, had the title and knocked it out." Now I'm not saying every lyric is addressed to Richie...but it IS about him :)

I remember when Bon Jovi came out and if you would have told me they would still be around in 2012 making great music (I know this song is from 2007) I would have laughed at you. While some bans imploded due to their prima donna singers (G&R) Jon has always recognized and treated his bandmates with respect because he knows they have been the key to his success.

Their unbelievable energy and charisma simply disappeared after they released It's My Life.
