Love the mental stress card mechanic! It’s simple, but gives range and control to the players - well done, it sounds like lots of fun. I’ve been a bit wary of sanity/mental stress in games as a GM but love them personally as a player. I’m eager to see how this plays out at the table. Backed the Kickstarter btw. Hope it’ll be successful for you.
I've used the previous iteration of your Mental Stress Cards many times, so I'm excited to see the updated versions coming soon. The system works incredibly well to foster fun role-playing, both simplifying and improving upon the usual dryness & complexity of sanity rules. The cards themselves work seamlessly to replace the sanity system of any other game, but I'm looking forward to jumping on the Kickstarter for Fearful Ends to see how well both card sets mesh into a game that's tailor-made for them. Thanks Paul.
[Paul] Thank you for the support! The cards have been through a lot of iterations, both in text and graphical layout, and have had feedback from multiple sensitivity readers. At this point I'm really happy with where they are. I believe the original intent of using them as a supplement for other horror games still holds up. If you have a favorite system that has either no or a poor sanity mechanic, the cards are pretty easy to incorporate. That said, I like having a full rule system built around them, and Jason Morningstar's idea to expand the cards into covering physical damage as well has been a great fit. Plus, I like the idea of having a system I truly love in print to write scenarios for, which was ultimately my original inspiration for the project. :)
I know I'm way late to the party. Is it possible to buy JUST the metal stress cards if I want to use them the older Insanity Cards, which were a system neutral add-on?
Currently they're only available as part of the printed core set. Selling them separately has been something we've been considering - please sign up for the email list to be notified when that's available! www.fearfulends.com/updates

Thanks for saying that!
