This Ramadan 2015 reminder lecture by Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi discusses:
-Verses 21-22 of Surat Ibrahim, where Shaitan (Satan) disassociates himself from mankind on the day of Judgement, saying:
"I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah ] before."
-Five (5) ways to protect ourselves from the Shaitan:
1) The strongest protection against Shaitan is Ikhlas (sincerity) to Allah.
2) Isti'ada - saying Authubillahir Rahmanir Rahim - we should utter this whenever an evil thought comes to mind
3) Saying "Bismillah"
4) All types of Dhikr (remembrance of Allah). The prophet (pbuh) tells us that it is the "fortress of the believer"
5) Being in company of righteous people - Hadith: Shaitan is further away from 2 people and closer to 1 person. The more time you spend with righteous people, the less shaitan has access to you (and vice versa).
