This Ramadan 2015 reminder lecture by Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi discusses:
-The famous Ayat An Noor (verse of Noor), Surah 24 (An Noor) verse 35, the most oft-commented verse in the entire Qur'an.
-There are 3 common interpretations of what Noor means:
    1) Noor here means Hidaya (guide)
    2) Allah is the source of all light
    3) Face value - it is a name of Allah, without asking how
    -Allah's veil is noor
-At Isra' wa Mi'raj, the prophet (pbuh) says of being closest to Allah "there was noor (light), how could I see him?
The standard interpretation of the example of his light, is the eman He puts in the heart of a mu'min.
    -Lamp (chest), glass(heart) and light(eman)
-Allah's wahi/Quran is pure and from heaven, not from east or west
-Light upon light (light in pure heart and light in Quran)
24:35 - Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.

What a beautiful interpretation of this beautiful verse in the Quran. May Allah make our hearts full of Light and make us amongst the righteous. Forgive our sins and protect us from the Devil (Saytan) and Hell.
O Allah grant us Jannatul Firdous (Highest abode in paradise).
    Ameen!
