lived right off bardstown in the mid 90's when i attended Sullivan college. i remember that steaknshake and rallys, our apartments were just behind that. Used to be a rock club the TOY TIGER thats sadly now a gas station. and i once saw the Smashing pumpkins in a small pub Tewligans in the Highlands. was a band named ENKINDLE i remember too. 90's in the highlands was pretty awesome. thanks for the vid
Not to be pedantic (but as someone who grew up very near The Highlands and knows this area well, I can't help it) the camera does not actually enter Bardstown Road until it bends slightly left at the intersection with Highland Avenue (2:35). Prior to that, the road being traveled is Baxter Avenue.
Bardstown Road is a totally diverse stretch that goes from downtown Louisville all the way to Bardstown Ky. if you follow it all the way out. Full of all types especially at the beginning to nothing but country further out.
What’s there really to see? It’s a typical US city. No real nationally known monuments besides maybe the BAT at the Louisville slugger museum, gold statue of David and that’s about it
It’s amazing how little history she has right about our neighborhood … anytime you want to inquire, no one knows Highlands more than me and Katie can talk to me any time .. this is what is killing our neighborhood
Who the hell is this guy? I’ve lived in the Highlands my entire life and I have NEVER regarded us as trendy or, even worse, hipster. For the most part, this is a laid back, friendly Bohemian neighborhood. At least, that is what attracted people to our culture. I would love to have a VERY long conversation with the guy that produced this and how he represents “ Ys” Lemme be real freakin clear, for some if you, this is a cool hood, but for many of us, it’s ‘ home’ How would you like it if thousands of hHifhlanders just invaded your hometown? Two sides to every storyPlease get the tourists out of the Highlands so we can have our home back
I have lived in the highlands since I was 14 and growing up that’s what the general consensus was among us. From an outside perspective the highlands is for sure hipster and it’s not even just tourists it’s just the vibe the area gives off.
Nice to see what's life looks like in this part of US. Thanks for video. Best wishes from Serbia/Europe.

Yep, just north of Cave Hill
I was thinking the same thing.

Nice presentation 👍
Wow, a side of Bardstown Rd I rarely ever get to see. I usually go as far north as the Watterson and even that is only once in a blue moon.
Don’t “get out” much, do ya? Haha jk
@@JUSAGUYNKY Nope, I hate dealing with traffic. And people. And everything else.
Good vibes Americana
I could never figure out the red X and green arrows over the lanes. Is it two lanes during rush hours or?
yes, x turns into turning lane
I could have been in this vid. I am on the Bardstown Road corridor constantly.
9502 Old Bards town Road
I am a native Louisvilleian any time you want a guided tour of any part of this city I will gladly take anyone.

😂 Did someone sh!t in your oatmeal for breakfast or something? It’s not that serious.
I’ve lived in the highlands, over 5 decades… “tourists” happens.
WOW!
They have "hipsters" in Louisville?
I had no idea...
Nicest street in all of Louisville , nothing comes close to being as nice for a commercial strip.
