Not what your background is, but that was one of the best instructional videos I’ve ever seen from a communication standpoint.

Great job. A whole new Nu Tone doorbell speaker unit runs around $99. Mine just needed a new door bell assembly which costs around $5.95. You saved me a lot of money. God Bless.

Hi, great video. How do I purchase a replacement button?

Hi lurticiawheatley: The Pushbutton is a standard NuTone item - Model Number PB18WHCL - You should be able to find it many places on-line to order - Chris

I have a friend whose IS67D button was acting up. He pulled the door station apart to see if he could see what was wrong. He said that something fell off the back of the original button. After that, the musical chime will only play while the button is being held down. It is my understanding that the part that fell off the back of the button was a plastic mechanical device that snapped on the back of the NuTone button and held the contacts together long enough for the chime to play after you release the button. This was speculation on his part. I replaced the button with a new NuTone lighted button. I was hoping that the incandescent bulb in the new button would act as a resistor in the circuit and allow the chime to finish. I understand that some units use a diode to accomplish this. I did not see the part that he lost. Any ideas?

Hi John: It is very likely that your friend has a NuTone Model LA52 Musical Door Chime - The LA52 requires a Diode (1N4002) across the terminals on the back of the Push Button. The purpose of the Diode is to allow the Chime to complete the song once the Push Button has been released. Without the Diode, the chime will stop playing as soon as the Push Button is released - also - the Rear Door Push Button will not work unless the Front Door Button has the Diode.
Diodes have a Direction of Operation (marked on the body of the Diode by a Stripe) When installing the Diode on the back of the Push Button - you have a 50/50 chance of getting it oriented in the right direction the first time - If the Diode is installed correctly - the Chime will play through the song once the Button has been released - if the Diode is installed backwards - the Chime will stop when the button is released (in this case flip the Diode around) - Chris

Hi Harbir: I am unclear on exactly what you're asking about and what kind of system or device you have. - If the button gets stuck - yes it could ring whatever device it is connected too - over and over.

, im remodeling my house and want to remove the old ima-4006 system. can i keep the front door entry system and wire it to a generic chime box so i no longer need the main station. It is ild and dated and no longer in use

Hi Chuck, The Entry Door Station is just a speaker cone and push button mounted on a grill. By itself it does nothing. You can reuse the push button as a standard door bell button, however you will need to have a way to supply power to the button and the new chime you want to install. There will be no way to connect any of this to the remote intercom stations and there will be communication functions. - Chris

Hello, I have the older faux wood door speaker and two white intercoms in the house. For a long time now, whenever I let go of the "door talk" or "inside talk" buttons there is a long static type hissing from the inside intercoms. More recently, the outside push button on the faux wood no longer activates the chime inside the two intercoms in the house. I opened the outside box and one of the screws on the push button looks pretty corroded. I assume that's the issue but why the hissing from the other units? Any recommendations would be appreciated. At a minimum I need to get my door bell working.

Hi John: It sounds like you definitely could use a new push button - we have these in stock. As for the static hissing noise - it depends. . . .
Can you communicate with the Entry Door Station (both directions?)
Can you communicate between the inside stations?
What is the model number of your System?
Please let me know - Chris

I can still do inside talk, but after I let go they both hiss for about 10 to 20 seconds, same whenever I reset the circuit breaker for them. I don't think outside talk works anymore. The door speaker looks almost like the one in the video except it has a little tag where you can write your name or address I guess. I'm not sure about the exact model, I didn't see it written anywhere?

oh, it looks exactly like the one in your video "Operational Check-Out of a NuTone IK15 Entry Intercom System" Although the intecom unit looks different.

Thanks for the offer but I live in Canada. Anyway, I installed the push button but it had no effect. Maybe I'll strip the wires some day and try to make a new connection to it. I've since gone with a wireless doorbell from Augia that uses kinetic energy to send a signal to its chime so I don't have to bother with batteries ever. I'm very pleased with this new product.

    Hi Chris,
My door chime is not working for the last weeks. I tried to reset but it did not work...what do I do next?
I am not a pro! Hence will check with Home Depot on the chime issue...I wonder, if the door button part is available in its own right...as this Nutone model seems very old.
    Thanks

Hi Ayumar: I'm going to assume that you have a NuTone Intercom System and it has a Chime Module - You should watch out Video about Chime Module Troubleshooting. Do what I show in the Video to track down where the problem is. Yes, we have have genuine NuTone Push Buttons available
