Of course Angelina is my favourite artist but I'm so pleased to be a fan of the beautiful and talented Lucy thomas she is a amazing singer and just like Angelina a beautiful soul .there is no comparison to be made both are in different lanes and i wish both artist have a happy and long successful career .
Both are beautiful young ladies with beautiful hearts and voices to match their physical beauty. They are so stylistically different, I feel it’s not only unfair but also unjust to compare the two. They each have their own unique gifts, abilities, and musical flavors. Suffice it to say they are both outstanding phenomenons in their respective endeavors. I have followed each one consistently and almost daily since December/2019 and will continue to do so unless they choose to make morally wrong decisions in their personal lives, which I really don’t think they will. They both seem solidly well grounded in their values and goals.
I think it’s really cool to hear them side by side… they’ve both got beautiful voices, very different, so depending on your mood you can get the flavor you want in that moment.
Great pleasure watching another one of your videos Alan but even more so the morning after attending Angelina’s 1st USA concert here in Portsmouth New Hampshire.
Heard an attendee say she sang 18 songs but that he wished it were longer. He also said, as did others, that her rendition of 'Unchained Melody' brought them to tears.
Lucy has a crystal clear voice that is amazing & I love to hear her sing. Listening to Angelina is an emotional rollercoaster of tears & goosebumps. Totally different, but both extremely talented.
I always come back to one thing, so many good singers, but Angelina is a master of the emotion. You can feeel what she’s singing! If that makes sense?!❤️💎💫
That makes perfect sense for you! And it is perfect sense for everybody individually, but we are all different and have different personal tastes and ears, but a good singer’s voice can touch people’s soul if they are tuned in to the same sound wave lengths. I say exactly the same about Lucy, but I feel nothing from Angelina and don’t like her singing (sorry). That does not mean Angelina is a bad singer, just not my cup of tea. Plus I’m sure she is nice person and I respect all those that like Angelina and all the other singers that I also don’t like. It doesn’t mean any are bad, it’s just personal taste. I don’t like Lady Gaga nor Adele either and they are the most popular singers, but that’s just me. Happily there are enough singers for us all to enjoy and it is good your singer makes you happy and feel.
I am so so happy that someone like You are finally giving Lucy Thomas her just due. Of course we all are in love with AJ......it's impossible not to be......but Lucy deserves some exposure for her great voice and covers also.
Two beauties, both with beautiful voices. Lucy is note for note on point. She never varies with her exact clear enunciations and smooth soft voice. Angelina, with that “club sandwich” catalog of vocal effects reached in and pulls out the hidden emotional gems that mere notes on a paper cannot do. Every song that you played with Angelina singing hit me in the feelz, each eliciting a different emotion, from joy, to tears... Only one of Lucy's made my heart swell, "smile". That's not a smack at her, she's very good..
It all depends if you love intensity or prefer a more contained song. I much prefer the expression unleased and this is why I love jazz too. When people say AJ is a lounge singer I just smile and move on. She is sheer jazz and once in a while she tames it into a different style just because she can. I always say she is toying with us. 😂 I love it so much❤ Alan, that song Smile was written by none other than the inimitable Charlie Chaplin. So autobiographical of him. Love it so 😢

Club sandwich, lol, very funny and an interesting analogy. Lucy has a beautiful voice, but Angelina is a phenomenon. One has a golem and alluring voice, the other is an unexplainable happening, it defies logic. When Lucy is singing the Bob Dylan song, you want to listen because her voice is so beautiful, but when Angelina sings it , It takes your breath away, we get goosebumps. Alan, this is one of your best.
Our personal choice is Lucy Thomas, her latest covers of Bab’s classics are next level, and her musical theatre ability in incredible. Both very talented young ladies appealing to different musical genres. Very difficult to compare.

I've been saying for years that Angelina's versatility is beyond compare and this is what separates her from all other singers. She is blessed with having the vocal ability to do all the different forms of vocalizing she does, but don't lose sight of the fact that she has been mentored by the greatest improvisational singer of all time, that being the incomparable Billie Holiday. You need only examine closely many of the facets Billie invented, which Angelina emulates when performing a rehearsal of Billie's 'I'm A Fool To Want You', that she does in a glass sound booth with her grandma outside the booth, to understand why Angelina has said that if not for Billie, there would be no Angelina Jordan today. It's amazing that a poor Black, self taught singer, who survived a life of dreadfulness that began very early, literally redefined the genre of Jazz, bringing it to a level that no one else ever accomplished until Angelina came along and realized the genius that was Billie, absorbing all of it like a sponge which has led to what she has become as the ultimate singer.
And I thought my comments were grandiose, but I agree with everything you said. I’ll ad there’s more than just Billy in her, she’s like AI, uploaded with Billy Holiday, Amy Weinhouse, Adele, Shirley Bassey, Rihanna, Whitney Houston and a few others all together , where she taps into and combines as she wishes.
Finally got around to watching this video. I am back home after traveling 12 days, highlighted by Angelina's first public concert in the USA. Lucy has a magnificent voice and I enjoy listening to her. I have little doubt those who prefer crystal clear voices, get as much joy listening to Lucy, as I do by listening to Angelina. There were many at the concert who were critical of the band and I do agree they were too loud at times but overall, I thought they did well. I would be interested to know how much time AJ practiced with that band. I am guessing not very much. I have seen a number of people say, in comments, that the record companies don't get involved in the concerts their artists put on. The concerts are a function of the artist's team. I believe Angelina's team will learn a lot from the concert in Portsmouth. For jazz singers, like Angelina, we always have to be prepared for something different. We got a new sound at the concert and Angelina's voice shone bright like the star she is. As always, she was sincere with her messages of love for her angels and inspiring us to spread that love.
These are my two favorite singers, I have playlists for both on RUclips. Thank you, Alan, for recognizing that both are outstanding and deserve to be appreciated for their individual skills.

In addition to Angelina I listen almost exclusively to 2 other singers, Nora Jones and Paolo Nutini, so my preference for Angelina is easy as I absolutely cannot predict how she will sing the next cover or what the next original will be like, well, she takes me by surprise every time! !On the other hand Lucy who has a wonderful voice never takes me by surprise and I could imagine any song how she would perform it, Angelina is in a unique musical segment while I consider Lucy "wonderfully normal"..my opinion.Great video Alan, have a good life. ..Massimo

Angelina will never achieve the greats in pop music today. Her style doesn't lend itself to mass popularity. She won't have the popularity of Adele,Taylor Swift, Celine, Rihanna, Mariah, and many others. Angelina will be unique talent in small markets.

They are completely different , can’t compare !, to me Lucy has a the richest, warm , no vocal gymnastics ever needed like some others singers. And you can hear every word she sings!
Liked, your show, as usual. Lucy's tonality is similar to the more conventional Norweigen, Sissel like. Where Angelina has carved out her own lane... The Club Sandwich double take was a bit weird. Lucy is beautiful, but a bit too white bread for my tastes. I prefer earthier tones. I feel my heart shift everytime i hear Angie sing SMILE.
These are both very talented young lady. But two very different styles. So in my opinion it’s just up to the person listening. Now I like a good club sandwich to eat but not so much in my listening to music.. I prefer a smooth and very rich voice. I compare Lucy to the best chocolate fudge in the world. It doesn’t matter what the size of bite you take it is still always very rich. After saying that I can also enjoy at times Angelina’s voice. So Alan I think you did a very good job in trying to compare these two wonderful singers, that are really very hard to compare. I just want to say that both these Ladies have a very bright future. @@tomwhite4736 I like them both also. But I like to understand the words in a song. If I can’t make out the words an artist is singing I probably won’t go back to listen to the song again. Sometimes I can make out what Angelina is saying, sometimes not. But with Lucy you can make out the lyrics and the story every time. That’s all.

Angelinas style is completely different more jazz influences from a very young age . it's just personal preference but personally I have always had a preference for a wide variety of artists and genre I don't confine myself to just one artist or genre . from musical to rap . I could easily watch Lucy on stage for Rosie, as we'll as go see Angelina in her concert .if you just prefer the style of Lucy we'll that's OK each to their own , horses for courses .my only wish is people who don't particularly like a certain artist or genre can at least appreciate that artist talent even if its not their cup of tea .music is like ice cream, different flavours . some artist I don't like but I can still appreciate their talent even if I can't enjoy it .

I have no doubt that Lucy's fans love her voice just as much as Angelina's angels love her voice. Different vocalists bring different qualities. I should add, for reasons I still don't fully comprehend, Angelina and her music have inspired me to improve the quality of my life AND use that to spread positivity to the world. I truly hope fans of other artists are so inspired.
@@colinhea exactly those things has vocal coaches said about Angelina too. The point is, they have different voices, and can still have those skills. It’s a matter of taste, and praise them both.
Lucy Thomas has a voice like pure crystal. For me better than Streisand and Dion. Many vocal coaches have commented that she signs with perfect pitch every time. Her version of Hallelujah is the best I have ever heard. Goosebump stuff. Angelina has a very unique voice. Jazzy and soulful.. Lots of emotion. Especially some of her songs when she was younger. But with some songs too much vocal manipulation and vocal acrobatics to sound like a certain style. Especially some of her most recent songs sounds very manipulated and stylistic. Not my cup of tea.

It's great that you construct these mashups of AJ with other performers. I believe that her smokey voice and jazzy style are incomparable and have established her as the most uniquely superior singer of our time. As for sister Juliette, she's a talented dancer which I'd love to watch that side of her grow. She also has a smokey speaking voice that sets her apart from girls her age. The family probably knows that Jules is a star in the making but have yet to work it out.

I understand this is an Angelina fan post and the post creator Alan is her fan, but if comparing Lucy Thomas then expect alternative opinion and comments. There are thousands of singers so more than just Angelina and Lucy Thomas. Angelina and Lucy are different singers so leave it at that. The best era for music was the 80’s with hundreds of singers all enjoyed together, so no need for one or the other - have all and be happy. 🙂 There was no - who is best?, because that is down to the listener - not another and not any critics. Angelina fans love her and Lucy supporters love her too, which is great and we are all happy. 😊 Some like and enjoy both and others besides - like tea and coffee, and some only like one or the other. No problem, who cares. Reading the comments here of course everybody loves Angelina and reading on the Lucy posts everybody loves Lucy. Which is great we all love our favourite singer and have passion for them. Our own ears and soul will decide who we prefer and our mood decide what we then listen. We all like other singers besides and a change to hear a man’s voice and rock song. But some correct information about Lucy Thomas and Wigan. Wigan is actually in Greater Manchester but was part of Lancashire many decades ago. Wigan is located central to Liverpool and Manchester so around 13 miles from both. The region is known for Rick Astley, Georgie Fame, George Formby, Thomas Burke, and now Lucy Thomas. Both Liverpool and Manchester are both famous for music from The Beetles to Sad Café, Paul Young, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, and numerous others besides those Alan mentioned. Plus the region instigated many new wave music genres being a music focal point during the 80’s. Lucy Thomas was creating incredible music videos aged 9, with more aged 10 already singing as the professional. Lucy was talented spotted aged 13 by Chris Broom and was given a recording contract by Cavendish Records. That same year aged 13 Lucy appeared on The Voice Kids in 2018 and from then on Lucy’s career took off with her first album, although schooling then Covid stopped many live gigs. Lucy is now working on her 5th album. Lucy also has the younger singing sister Martha who’s about 5 years younger. Martha was appearing with Lucy since the age of 11 and is the remarkable singer for her age, singing incredibly challenging duets with Lucy. Most outstanding duet ‘The Prayer’ with it’s huge intense complexity were Martha is aged just 12. Unbelievable performance at 12 years old! Lucy already the huge talent has over 60 top songs to her credit, and they speak for themselves. Lucy continues to work on the West End musical Rosie which she is the star, and she has just returned from concert in Texas. Besides all this Lucy is the nice, down to earth and hard working young lady, doing charity concerts etc, and loving animals. The secret to her success is her kind soul and empathy.

I don't get it. Based on quality of voice and technical skill there is no comparison. Jordan has a nice, but face it, a novelty or stylized voice really. Lucy is much more accomplished and on a whole different level.
Lucy Thomas is the reference... she has an unbelievable clear sound and her singing technic is nearly perfect, she has a wide range and great mixed registers. Angelina put a lot of emotions over every phrase, so I have sometimes the feeling this is the way for her to sing songs which are to hard for her... especially by "I will always love you" this song is famous from Whitney Houston but originally it is from Dolly Parton. It would be interesting to hear the really difficult parts of this song to compare. But I am sure, that Angelina will have her genre and she will be great in that but in my opinion she needs additional to her talent a good singing trainer. Angelina is young so we will see where she goes....
Basically Lucy is the best vocalist I’ve heard in my 73 years. Angelina is the best jazz singer I’ve heard since Amy Winehouse, Lucy’s likely career path is musical theatre Angelina will become a consummate concert performer so why even try to compare them?
There are both great singer's with there especial ways. I just don't like to compare between the two Artist. But I stand by Lucy Thomas she Incredible vocals strenght control beautiful voices that I have ever heard.

The two of them trying to overcome each other. Have you seen the video where AJ'S voice is the soundtrack of a scene of the movie? She was both the Prince and the Girl. She practically dubbed them. Lucy Thomas now. Great voice. Perfect pitch, intonation and more but that can be said of many other singers.
In my humble opinion there are 4 aspects that set her apart from the lot. They're cold. She's Warm. None of the female singers I've listened to in my 70 years( just turned) could match her low register. They sing a song, beautifully no doubt but they don't make you cry like She does. She doesn't just sing, she lives the song, she emotes you. Last but not least, She is a "Story Teller ". As for the club sandwich thing, I'll say this: just like a bite on a Gordon Ramsey sandwich will give you a different flavour, every single syllable that comes out of her mouth will give you a different emotion even if she's singing a song you've heard already. ❤

OK I watched all the fun I watch the remote she’s beautiful voice her sister Martha fantastic singer to the field of rouge. Her mother sound like a beautiful I have all the girls, but Angelina Jordan is my favorite one of all time we’re going over age is a place for everybody in the music business. I don’t compare want another girl, unique and separate individuals and groups on the style. Don’t have her but I will say this I know me Angelina Jordan has a very unique boys, the timbre, her voice cannot be copying. If you need her, only, I’ve listened to many children sang other people saying that you cannot copy. Her voice is just in her voice is unique to her into her only.
Wrong thing to say on this channel i think... but Lucy by a long way my favourite, always perfect pitch and control. AJ love her voice for much of her work but too variable for me.
Both are very talented. Yet one might say Angelina has “taken the road less traveled.” Lucy trained in a traditional way with her pure tones and classic vibrato. Angelina with that incredible raspy voice, incredible breath control and jazzy runs. Will Angelina’s path make “all the difference?” Stay tuned.

Hello Alan. I have to admit that Lucy took my breath away at times. And I have to honestly admit, Angelina has found a “singing sister”. Both have breathtaking voices. I like Angelina's voice more, but Lucy! If Angelina didn't exist, I imagine Lucy could be my favorite. And I can also very well imagine if the two of them could do some things together. Lucy could be the successor to "Eva Cassidy" and they both sing "Field's of Gold" together! What do you think? The two of them are, in my opinion, sisters in song!!
Excellent job of comparing and contrasting these two singers as it almost impossible given their vastly different styles. As a fan of Lucy I had not really listened to Angelina to any extent so I was appreciative of this retrospective. However, I wish you had included some clips from further in to a few of the songs, Hallelujah, for example, where Lucy goes into "belting mode" with no change in clarity or purity. I'll have to go check out Angelina's versions to see how she sounds in those parts on my own.
Lucy's voice is on another level. And her beauty is beyond words . It is unfair to compare any body to her. Angelina is cute and has a nice voice. But that's as far as she goes. LUCY is drop dead gorgeous!!!!! Her beauty rivals with young Elizabeth Taylor - considered " the most beautiful woman of all times" and Lucy's voice is perfection at its best . Trying to describe soul to someone who's never experienced it must be like Attempting to train a dog to climb a tree. You're either genetically predisposed to dig the bark and climb to the top or to scratch the tree and bark (intentional pun). If you have ever heard AJ cover Aaron Nevelle, Nina Simone, Etta James or James Brown then you felt the soul with every note. Lucy is traditional and sings with a lot of heart which makes her ballads wonderful and saturated with warmth. AJ sings with soul which has the listener feeling it to the bone. I suppose Thomas and Jordan are apples and oranges both sweet and very nourishing.
Lucy's voice is lovely, crystal clear but I'd be hard pressed to identify her voice. Not so with Angelina. Like her voice or not you know its her from the first note. That attribute is priceless. For me, Angelina is just on another level.
Alan, thank you for doing this review. As someone who strongly appreciates both Lucy and Angelina, I am very pleased that you did this comparison. I am an avid fan of jazz as well as theatrical/classical-crossover styles, I "get" both of their styles. And contrary to many of the comments here, I find that both of them resonate strongly on an emotional level ... just in different ways. Perhaps you could go into more depth in a future video on their stylistic differences. Again, thank you for this review.
Angelina is my ultimate favorite, but here are two other very talented young singers. Yaxeni Rivera, Cantando En Japones. Erza Muqoli, La Vie En Rose, Dommage and Blue.
Lucy and her sister are very enjoyable to listen as they sing beautifully.the difference for me that they are pleasant to my ears. Angelina, connects to me in a way that no other singer ever has. She is the only one i can listen to over and over everyday. Nice look at them.
....So Alan, I love my unique female vocalist as well, from Chrissie Hynde (from the pretenders) to Natalie Merchant (mostly her on her own) and throw in some Ann Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, and Tracy Chapman somewhere in between. But what makes them so great to listen too, is because they are mostly singing their their own music (either written by them or for them) and not (for the most part) redoing covers of someone else's music. LOL Music, and emotional expression are based on personal preferences of the listener and the genre. So this is a mute issue on all points. And being an Angelina platform, this comparative video was slightly skewed towards Angelina always ending with her. Which would be expected being that Alan's platform is almost solely an Angelina platform. It would be like comparing Maria Callas to Etta James. power, note sustainability. clarity and voice control go without a doubt to Callas, Personal creativity on the fly and emotional expression of the song go to Etta . And this analogy applies to both of these young singers as well. Lol in my perspective!
Luckily it's not an XOR decision between those 2. While Lucy is more the Musical/Diva type, Angelina is a Jazz like artist. Both can give as different things.

Both are beautiful young ladies with beautiful hearts and voices to match their physical beauty. They are so stylistically different, I feel it’s not only unfair but also unjust to compare the two. They each have their own unique gifts, abilities, and musical flavors. Suffice it to say they are both outstanding phenomenons in their respective endeavors. I have followed each one consistently and almost daily since December/2019 and will continue to do so unless they choose to make morally wrong decisions in their personal lives, which I really don’t think they will. They both seem solidly well grounded in their values and goals.

That makes perfect sense for you! And it is perfect sense for everybody individually, but we are all different and have different personal tastes and ears, but a good singer’s voice can touch people’s soul if they are tuned in to the same sound wave lengths. I say exactly the same about Lucy, but I feel nothing from Angelina and don’t like her singing (sorry). That does not mean Angelina is a bad singer, just not my cup of tea. Plus I’m sure she is nice person and I respect all those that like Angelina and all the other singers that I also don’t like. It doesn’t mean any are bad, it’s just personal taste. I don’t like Lady Gaga nor Adele either and they are the most popular singers, but that’s just me. Two beauties, both with beautiful voices. Lucy is note for note on point. She never varies with her exact clear enunciations and smooth soft voice. Angelina, with that “club sandwich” catalog of vocal effects reached in and pulls out the hidden emotional gems that mere notes on a paper cannot do. In short, no tears just appreciation for Lucy’s performances. While Angelina sends chills and brings tears every time.

It all depends if you love intensity or prefer a more contained song. I much prefer the expression unleased and this is why I love jazz too. When people say AJ is a lounge singer I just smile and move on. She is sheer jazz and once in a while she tames it into a different style just because she can. I always say she is toying with us. 😂 I love it so much❤

lose sight of the fact that she has been mentored by the greatest improvisational
singer of all time, that being the incomparable Billie Holiday. You need only examine
closely many of the facets Billie invented, which Angelina emulates when performing
a rehearsal of Billie's 'I'm A Fool To Want You', that she does in a glass sound booth
with her grandma outside the booth, to understand why Angelina has said that if not
for Billie, there would be no Angelina Jordan today. It's amazing that a poor Black, self
taught singer, who survived a life of dreadfulness that began very early, literally redefined
the genre of Jazz, bringing it to a level that no one else ever accomplished until Angelina
came along and realized the genius that was Billie, absorbing all of it like a sponge which

Finally got around to watching this video. I am back home after traveling 12 days, highlighted by Angelina's first public concert in the USA. Lucy has a magnificent voice and I enjoy listening to her. I have little doubt those who prefer crystal clear voices, get as much joy listening to Lucy, as I do by listening to Angelina. There were many at the concert who were critical of the band and I do agree they were too loud at times but overall, I thought they did well. I would be interested to know how much time AJ practiced with that band. I am guessing not very much.
I have seen a number of people say, in comments, that the record companies don't get involved in the concerts their artists put on. The concerts are a function of the artist's team. I believe Angelina's team will learn a lot from the concert in Portsmouth.
For jazz singers, like Angelina, we always have to be prepared for something different. We got a new sound at the concert and Angelina's voice shone bright like the star she is. As always, she was sincere with her messages of love for her angels and inspiring us to spread that love.
These are my two favorite singers, I have playlists for both on RUclips. Thank you, Alan, for recognizing that both are outstanding and deserve to be appreciated for their individual skills.

They are completely different , can’t compare !, to me Lucy has a the richest, warm , no vocal gymnastics ever needed like some others singers. And you can hear every word she sings!
Liked, your show, as usual. Lucy's tonality is similar to the more conventional Norweigen, Sissel like. Where Angelina has carved out her own lane... The Club Sandwich double take was a bit weird. Lucy is beautiful, but a bit too white bread for my tastes. I prefer earthier tones. I feel my heart shift everytime i hear Angie sing SMILE.
These are both very talented young lady. But two very different styles. So in my opinion it’s just up to the person listening. Now I like a good club sandwich to eat but not so much in my listening to music.. I prefer a smooth and very rich voice. I compare Lucy to the best chocolate fudge in the world. It doesn’t matter what the size of bite you take it is still always very rich. After saying that I can also enjoy at times Angelina’s voice. So Alan I think you did a very good job in trying to compare these two wonderful singers, that are really very hard to compare. I just want to say that both these Ladies have a very bright future. Sometimes I can make out what Angelina is saying, sometimes not. But with Lucy you can make out the lyrics and the story every time. That’s all.

Angelinas style is completely different more jazz influences from a very young age . it's just personal preference but personally I have always had a preference for a wide variety of artists and genre I don't confine myself to just one artist or genre . from musical to rap . Lucy Thomas has a voice like pure crystal. For me better than Streisand and Dion. Many vocal coaches have commented that she signs with perfect pitch every time. Her version of Hallelujah is the best I have ever heard. Goosebump stuff. Angelina has a very unique voice. Jazzy and soulful.. Lots of emotion. Especially some of her songs when she was younger. But with some songs too much vocal manipulation and vocal acrobatics to sound like a certain style. Especially some of her most recent songs sounds very manipulated and stylistic. Not my cup of tea.

I understand this is an Angelina fan post and the post creator Alan is her fan, but if comparing Lucy Thomas then expect alternative opinion and comments.
There are thousands of singers so more than just Angelina and Lucy Thomas. Angelina and Lucy are different singers so leave it at that. The best era for music was the 80’s with hundreds of singers all enjoyed together, so no need for one or the other - have all and be happy. 🙂 There was no - who is best?, because that is down to the listener - not another and not any critics. Angelina fans love her and Lucy supporters love her too, which is great and we are all happy. 😊 Some like and enjoy both and others besides - like tea and coffee, and some only like one or the other. Reading the comments here of course everybody loves Angelina and reading on the Lucy posts everybody loves Lucy. Which is great we all love our favourite singer and have passion for them. Our own ears and soul will decide who we prefer and our mood decide what we then listen. We all like other singers besides and a change to hear a man’s voice and rock song.
But some correct information about Lucy Thomas and Wigan. Wigan is actually in Greater Manchester but was part of Lancashire many decades ago. Wigan is located central to Liverpool and Manchester so around 13 miles from both. The region is known for Rick Astley, Georgie Fame, George Formby, Thomas Burke, and now Lucy Thomas.
Both Liverpool and Manchester are both famous for music from The Beetles to Sad Café, Paul Young, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, and numerous others besides those Alan mentioned. Plus the region instigated many new wave music genres being a music focal point during the 80’s.
Lucy Thomas was creating incredible music videos aged 9, with more aged 10 already singing as the professional. Lucy was talented spotted aged 13 by Chris Broom and was given a recording contract by Cavendish Records. That same year aged 13 Lucy appeared on The Voice Kids in 2018 and from then on Lucy’s career took off with her first album, although schooling then Covid stopped many live gigs. Lucy is now working on her 5th album. Lucy also has the younger singing sister Martha who’s about 5 years younger. Martha was appearing with Lucy since the age of 11 and is the remarkable singer for her age, singing incredibly challenging duets with Lucy. Most outstanding duet ‘The Prayer’ with it’s huge intense complexity were Martha is aged just 12. Unbelievable performance at 12 years old!
Lucy already the huge talent has over 60 top songs to her credit, and they speak for themselves. Lucy continues to work on the West End musical Rosie which she is the star, and she has just returned from concert in Texas. Besides all this Lucy is the nice, down to earth and hard working young lady, doing charity concerts etc, and loving animals. The secret to her success is her kind soul and empathy.

I don't get it. Based on quality of voice and technical skill there is no comparison. Jordan has a nice, but face it, a novelty or stylized voice really. Lucy is much more accomplished and on a whole different level.

Lucy Thomas is the reference... she has an unbelievable clear sound and her singing technic is nearly perfect, she has a wide range and great mixed registers. Angelina put a lot of emotions over every phrase, so I have sometimes the feeling this is the way for her to sing songs which are to hard for her... especially by "I will always love you" this song is famous from Whitney Houston but originally it is from Dolly Parton. It would be interesting to hear the really difficult parts of this song to compare. But I am sure, that Angelina will have her genre and she will be great in that but in my opinion she needs additional to her talent a good singing trainer. Angelina is young so we will see where she goes....
Basically Lucy is the best vocalist I’ve heard in my 73 years. Angelina is the best jazz singer I’ve heard since Amy Winehouse, Lucy’s likely career path is musical theatre Angelina will become a consummate concert performer so why even try to compare them?

There are both great singer's with there especial ways. I just don't like to compare between the two Artist. But I stand by Lucy Thomas she Incredible vocals strenght control beautiful voices that I have ever heard.
Me again. Sorry. " When you believe". Let's talk about that. I saw the video with Whitney and Mariah. Great of course but a bit too " produced" for my taste. The two of them trying to overcome each other. Have you seen the video where AJ'S voice is the soundtrack of a scene of the movie? She was both the Prince and the Girl. She practically dubbed them. Lucy Thomas now. Great voice. Perfect pitch, intonation and more but that can be said of many other singers.
In my humble opinion there are 4 aspects that set her apart from the lot. They're cold. She's Warm. None of the female singers I've listened to in my 70 years( just turned) could match her low register. They sing a song, beautifully no doubt but they don't make you cry like She does. She doesn't just sing, she lives the song, she emotes you. Last but not least, She is a "Story Teller ". As for the club sandwich thing, I'll say this: just like a bite on a Gordon Ramsey sandwich will give you a different flavour, every single syllable that comes out of her mouth will give you a different emotion even if she's singing a song you've heard already. ❤
PS. One last thing. The riffs and runs she does are something that nobody else ever thought about, let alone capable of doing them.😉😏

OK I watched all the fun I watch the remote she’s beautiful voice her sister Martha fantastic singer to the field of rouge. Her mother sound like a beautiful I have all the girls, but Angelina Jordan is my favorite one of all time we’re going over age is a place for everybody in the music business. I don’t compare want another girl, unique and separate individuals and groups on the style. Don’t have her but I will say this I know me Angelina Jordan has a very unique boys, the timbre, her voice cannot be copying. If you need her, only, I’ve listened to many children sang other people saying that you cannot copy. Her voice is just in her voice is unique to her into her only.
Wrong thing to say on this channel i think... but Lucy by a long way my favourite, always perfect pitch and control. AJ love her voice for much of her work but too variable for me.

Hello Alan. I have to admit that Lucy took my breath away at times. And I have to honestly admit, Angelina has found a “singing sister”. Both have breathtaking voices. I like Angelina's voice more, but Lucy! If Angelina didn't exist, I imagine Lucy could be my favorite. And I can also very well imagine if the two of them could do some things together. Lucy could be the successor to "Eva Cassidy" and they both sing "Field's of Gold" together! What do you think? The two of them are, in my opinion, sisters in song!!
Both have massive talents but I guess I am old fashioned and prefer the clarity of Lucy.
Angelina seems to over do most songs would love to hear her just strip it back like Lucy does and just sing without forcing it
Excellent job of comparing and contrasting these two singers as it almost impossible given their vastly different styles. As a fan of Lucy I had not really listened to Angelina to any extent so I was appreciative of this retrospective.
However, I wish you had included some clips from further in to a few of the songs, Hallelujah, for example, where Lucy goes into "belting mode" with no change in clarity or purity. I'll have to go check out Angelina's versions to see how she sounds in those parts on my own.
Lucy's voice is on another level. And her beauty is beyond words . It is unfair to compare any body to her. Angelina is cute and has a nice voice. But that's as far as she goes. LUCY is drop dead gorgeous!!!!! Her beauty rivals with young Elizabeth Taylor - considered " the most beautiful woman of all times" and Lucy's voice is perfection at its best . Attempting to train a dog to climb a tree. You're either genetically predisposed to dig the bark and climb to the top or to scratch the tree and bark (intentional pun).
If you have ever heard AJ cover Aaron Nevelle, Nina Simone, Etta James or James Brown then you felt the soul with every note. Lucy is traditional and sings with a lot of heart which makes her ballads wonderful and saturated with warmth. AJ sings with soul which has the listener feeling it to the bone. I suppose Thomas and
Jordan are apples and oranges both sweet and very nourishing.
Here we go with comparisons again.
Lucy's voice is lovely, crystal clear but I'd be hard pressed to identify her voice. Not so with Angelina. Like her voice or not you know its her from the first note. That attribute is priceless. For me, Angelina is just on another level.
Alan, thank you for doing this review. As someone who strongly appreciates both Lucy and Angelina, I am very pleased that you did this comparison. I am an avid fan of jazz as well as theatrical/classical-crossover styles, I "get" both of their styles. And contrary to many of the comments here, I find that both of them resonate strongly on an emotional level ... just in different ways. Perhaps you could go into more depth in a future video on their stylistic differences. Again, thank you for this review.
Angelina is my ultimate favorite, but here are two other very talented young singers. Yaxeni Rivera, Cantando En Japones. Erza Muqoli, La Vie En Rose, Dommage and Blue.
Lucy and her sister are very enjoyable to listen as they sing beautifully.the difference for me that they are pleasant to my ears. Angelina, connects to me in a way that no other singer ever has. She is the only one i can listen to over and over everyday. Nice look at them.
....So Alan, I love my unique female vocalist as well, from Chrissie Hynde (from the pretenders) to Natalie Merchant (mostly her on her own) and throw in some Ann Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, and Tracy Chapman somewhere in between. But what makes them so great to listen too, is because they are mostly singing their their own music (either written by them or for them) and not (for the most part) redoing covers of someone else's music. Because when It comes to mainly doing that, a club sandwich really doesn't work; as who ever goes to a "fine restaurant" and orders a club sandwich in expecting to get a true appreciation as to why the restaurant is considered such! Nope, Sorry, when mainly doing covers, give me Lucy's pure, nearly perfect-though slightly altered renditions almost every time....though that being said, I did appreciate your very unique and interesting presentation of the two singers! So definitely Hats Off to you....
LOL Music, and emotional expression are based on personal preferences of the listener and the genre. So this is a mute issue on all points. And being an Angelina platform, this comparative video was slightly skewed towards Angelina always ending with her. Which would be expected being that Alan's platform is almost solely an Angelina platform. It would be like comparing Maria Callas to Etta James. power, note sustainability. clarity and voice control go without a doubt to Callas, Personal creativity on the fly and emotional expression of the song go to Etta . And this analogy applies to both of these young singers as well. Lol in my perspective!
Luckily it's not an XOR decision between those 2. While Lucy is more the Musical/Diva type, Angelina is a Jazz like artist.
