    One thing that consistently impresses me about these Marvel guys is how robustly expert they are and how open they are to sharing their skills. It’s not my style but I still like listening to them as creators because they’re brilliant. Even the first thought I landed on saying you don’t have to be a professional to produce comics is really important. Just like film or music or so many creative outlets, you can apply the skills to new places no matter where you start and you don’t need anything special to get started. Everyone has a shot. One beautiful thing about creativity right now is it’s all access from all directions. Great insights. I love how he keeps touching back to the social aspects of being a modern artist, which applies to all of us and can be a course in itself. I love what he says about copying to learn too. Good reminder to copy skills with intention and understanding, not just work on autopilot and I agree that for alot of people, before you can really do your own thing you do have to fit into someone else’s mold. It’s tough, but that’s true for most growth.

    Great insight by Ryan in this one, thanks for sharing! I'm 1/2 illustrator, 1/2 designer and often struggle with figures - if I were to take the upcoming comics course, would it be tough without a background in figure drawing?

    • @ProkoTV
      @ProkoTV  Год назад +5

      Some of the course may be a bit outside your regular comfort zone. But you don't have to be a perfect figure drawing phenom for the course.

      It's a good opportunity to work on your weaknesses, I'm an industrial designer by education, I've gotten good at drawing figures from decades of practice but I still struggle with complex environments involving vegetation so I'm working on it. The great thing about art is that there is always room to learn, improve, and grow.

      I only get to watch art videos from time to time but I like Ross Draws, Kyle Webster's streams with Adobe, Aaron Blaise, Loish's videos and James Gurney's channel, among others.
      There's a LOT of good online instruction out there! Check out those artists' work and they'll mention even more.

    hello proko. I have a question for you. I have an exam that I have to prepare for in a year. (charcoalpecil). I have a university exam at the same time. I am very worried that I cannot do it. Do you think I can learn to draw like you in 1 year?

  • @theanimelibarian7881
    @theanimelibarian7881 Год назад

    Um concept art is a completely different beast on to itself comicbooks is not all that transferable to it maybe low level jobs but high level top tier concept art? No different software and workflows speaking as a concept art student

  • @hughtims
    @hughtims Год назад

    I'm intrigued- what is the chance I'd get an actual critique on my art in this course?

    • @ProkoTV
      @ProkoTV  Год назад

      There are two avenues for critiques for the course. We make critique videos for assignments and you'll be able to direct submit your work to possibly be shown to the instructor doing the critique video.
      The other option is to share your work in the Proko community, instructors, other students and some skilled artists who we specifically work with to do community critiques give pointers and can recommend areas that you mention having issue with.

      Not sure where you saw that. The first video has always been scheduled to go out on the 12th. That's also when the presale ends.

    Can you please give me some vice because I want to make a comic book and I only draw women and I was wanting to know how do you make a comic book even if you only draw like a lot of men and you can't draw any woman so how can you make a comic book with women in it and only cause that what I can draw

    • @ProkoTV
      @ProkoTV  Год назад

      Comics can have absolutely any characters you want in them! If you want to make one that's all women, go for it!
      I do recommend trying to stretch those artistic muscles and learn to draw other body types, though.
