Mister Stan I have a question ,I have been watching your posts for over a year, and in one of them you guys mentioned the name of a Greek fellow artist that the US department of education, had him draft a drawing manual .. I can't remember which video that was in ..🙏 can you remember his name, I'm pretty sure it was you that threw the name in to the conversation. I lost my laptop in which I had the specific info and I don't know why but that type of scribbling I like
amazing PROKO...ive been waiting for this...excited for part three
!!!!
hi this great vedio im going to share this in my group , i would love to see the same artist do something on dynamic figure drawing , if he can , it would mean so much to me and every body hes really good thanks for the vedio 👌👌
That is the most coolest drawing of a head.
Okay ✅ people! That’s my son doing what he does best.
Comic Book Artist!!!
Your son inspires me to continue working on my art :) he’s amazing at what he does
Are you really his mother ? 😂
It's really sweet that you support your son so much and that you're so proud of him!
I really appreciate that your son took his time to make this video, he's super talented and really passionate about drawing. Loved the lesson :)
Bruh your son's awesome.
Quick, everybody hide the adult comics! Mom has entered the chat!!
I am amazed not only by his drawing skills but also by how passionate he is about drawing. The story about how he got to work at Image is amazing, and he seems like a genuine nice guy. Loved the video!
I agree. I really appreciate the positive energy this video gives to me.
The man's trained by Jim Lee himself

Proko please make more comic-related videos like this they are really helpful!
Trust me. More videos are coming.
Would really appreciate a comic inking render vid. Never really understood how comic artists figure out where to shade all that black.
i think its kind of like the posterize effect in Photoshop where it reduces the values down to light, dark mid-tone and with the lines you use thin lines (sometimes even no lines) for where there is more light on an object and thicker lines for heavier shadows. Also you can graduate the line width with pen pressure or using brush pen and drawing at different speeds. Would be very good to see in a video though
@@Carl_Wheezy Well thats not exactly what I meant, but I guess that info would still be helpful.
Show me your art.its relatively easy to ink if you know how to draw.
If you know how to draw 3 dimensionallly, its relatively a no brainer to render
@@KershalJC relatively must be your word of the week. Show us your art, oh “great one”.
how quickly he can put a basic sketch together , its masterful. a great artist can take a long time to work, but a masterful artist that can draw so quickly for me is another level of impressive!
That was so inspiring to hear the story before getting hired, expecially the six months of serious prep for the real world. Glad it happened!
Hey Marshall, what are the skills needed for a comic book artist?
Hey marshall how are you? Make some videos drawing, I love your style 😃
Love watching Ryan create magic ☺️
When will your new video's gonna out ?
Hi Evan! 👋🏼
hey cartoonblock!
The concept of Ant-man Hulk is absolutely terrifying.
Whoever chose the thumbnail for this video is a genius!
Our editor Melanie came up with the idea and then Alex executed it amazingly haha
It's amazing to me how quickly he moves on from laying out the face's landmarks to rendering inside the eyes/nose/mouth. It looks like a perfectly streamlined process!
support pla
it doesn't look like a perfectly streamlined process, it is one. :D
As a classically trained artist, who’s switching to comic styles, I tell everyone the same exact thing about “connecting the dots” ! Love that he said that ! He’s great for stuff like this
Ryan is an incredible wholesome person.
Those tips on hair really blew me off, he is a fantastic teacher.
Love this. And as a dad, I especially loved hearing about his dad's support of his work.
I want to see so much more of Ryan Benjamin! I LOVED LOVED LOVED hearing about his foot through the door with Image, this video was excellent!
The story was so amazing. He is so passionate and you can literally see he loves what he is doing.
What an interesting video! I was never really into comics, but his passion is inspiring!!!! He really makes me want to draw more often! It just goes to show what can happen if you follow your interests and put in the hard work!!!! Congratulations to him and thanks for wowing us with his talent!!!😁
Love the red pencil explanation, loved the mini Hulk story!
It's so fascinating, listening to Ryan. 20 minutes is too short, I would pay him a drink in a bar and listen to him all night long. :)
It's funny, Jim Lee's X Men is the first comic I bought with my own money back in the days, and it was a huge punch in my face. 25 years later, it's still a huge influence for me.
What do you like about Jim Lee?
I prefer jeans Lee anyday.
It's nice to see this style of comic art is still alive and well. The medium has seen a lot more variety especially in super-hero genres which is good but the semi-realistic/gritty style is my favorite.
Lots of great advice from a great artist. I saw a RUclips video of a comic book artist who spent about 12 years making a comic book. Listen to Ryan and work fast and efficiently. Proko videos are brilliant.
❤️🖌️🎨
Awesome!!! His demo and storytelling had me cheering for him. Man, thanks for this upload. Truly, inspiring!
Oh my gosh, I just love him...... and his story, he's so sincere, honest and dedicated......
I'm loving these comic videos!
Amazing artwork, and his story is even better. Thanks for sharing, Ryan.
What a inspiring story! 🥰 Ryan is such a great artist and I would love to see a sketchbook tour from him ☺
“David banner” is a rapper signed to def jam. He meant Bruce banner haha. I love that connection
Actually David banner was snag that we called Bruce banner in the 80’s tv show. I assume he is referring to that.
There's a little backstory why some people called him that. "David" is his middle name or maybe it was Bruce. Stanley always had trouble remembering names, hence why most of his creations has alliterative names to make it easy, like Peter Parker or Reed Richards. Although evidently he still has trouble with it. One day he forgot Bruce's name and just called him David Banner in the comics. So when a reader asked him about this he said that his full name is Bruce David Banner, hence why it stuck for people who were from the older generations.
There's something magical in watching the real pros draw
Man, that story sounded so cool! Amazing demo as well.
That kind of art is amazing
Ryan is so cool he is a kid at heart, whose dream came true to become a comic artist. I hope you never change dude keep up the amazing art!
Ryan is absolutely awesome!
Ryan Benjamin is just great, and not just artistically. Great vid!
His face drawing made me think he was inspired by Wildcats and by then end i was proven right. It's funny how the "DNA" of your influences bleed through. Artists belong to a pretty cool lineage.
So inspiring !! Thanks, Proko !!!
amazing!!! i love comic art style so much
Thanks, Ryan, you are the BEST!
Amazing skills, so inspirational for us young artists.
Awesome video. I enjoyed hearing Ryan talk about how he got into comics.
support pls
Thats incredible! an awesome story too.
So simple..... yet extremely effective 😍
Thanks, cannot wait for the david finch one aswell
Thank you for this helpful lesson
So a damn great story, so inspiring. Thank you!
Nice talk and video! Thanks Proko!
Amazing, great story, thanks
Can we just get a whole course on nothing but comic book styles featuring Mr. Benjamin and Mr. Finch? That would be awesome.
Sounds epik
I remember the first time I met Ryan I was a student , and he was with Sean Galloway, aka Mr. Cheeks at a wonder con in San Francisco. Both of them were amazing to talk to and a wealth of knowledge.
i can't wait to have as much talent as this man. i know it'll get there and i cant wait for my ipad so i can practice my digital art as well
So much passion. I love it
im (obviously) very late, but Mr. Benjamin is a kickass teacher with so much wisdom to offer, i love these videos with him in them
This is a great video, informative, and fun to watch!
Love that the "David" Banner slipped in there. TV Hulk is so good. Awesome video. Hope we see more from Ryan.
David banner I remember him from the hulk movie .
@@samankucher5117 David was first used in the TV show and is only occasionally used as an alias for Bruce as an homage. 99% of the time Banner’s name is Bruce.
You make it look so easy.
Hi, Stan. Have you ever thought on inviting a mangaka like Yusuke Murata(one punch man) or Takechi Obata(Death note) to one of your videos, or talk bout their styles ?
Loved this!
Awesome story of sticking to it until you make it! Great video!
Came for the tutorial, got inspired by his story. Thank you Ryan.
That moment when he walks into his comic book shop to announce the call is such a feel good moment. Thanks for sharing that!
So good! Ryan is a lovely person
AMAZING!! Ryan...you're an awesome artist and a teacher...would love to be in your class soon
i wish i could get that level of passion for art back
I need this guy to teach how to construct dinamic figures in perspective so I can trow my money that way 🙌🔥
This guy is awesome!
Though I don't like a part of his attitude which sounds like "Overwork yourself with art until you burnout" - because I have had that in small scale and I can't recommend being exhausted from art mentally and physically - I really loved listening to him and watch him draw! He seems like a very symphathetic person! =)
From that starting scribble you can see he's done it thousands of times and could do it blindfolded.
He has an awesome story! Amazing personality too :)
Oh amazing content man’ what a cool way to think of drawing the head!
God bless you Ryan! 😀
That reflection trick was so neat
Aww mna, what a could dude!!!🔥🔥 what and inspiring artist!!
Love your story 😊
What a great storyteller.
I would love to see Ryan show us dynamic figure drawimg and gestures 😁
more stories please!!
Awesome!!!
Awesome story.
Love proko is vids
Magical had the same experience met Leigh Ruben at art school instantly knew I wanted to publish my art in book form
Amazing video.. we need more comic book videos!
Loved that Superman piece at the 20:00 minute mark. That was The Thorn with him? Never seen her so buff.
Love'd Ryan's art since StormWatch Vol1 17!
Very nice!!!!
Proko and Ryan, thank you so much for making this video, it’s so helpful and inspiring! I have a few questions (I doubt that Ryan will be able to answer them, but if there are any other comic artists in the comment section, perhaps you could help, please?)
1) When it comes to illustrating the panels, do you draw them all on a larger scale and then crop them to fit the box, or do you draw directly into the panel layout?
2) Do you ink traditionally or digitally? Any experiences with both methods? Which is better, and why?
3) Do you have any advice for artists? I am an Illustration degree student, but I am wanting to improve my drawing skills all the time- are there any exercises you could recommend or resources?
4) Do you have any advice for publishing your own comics/ graphic novels, or best places to share them?
5) At 08:42, you say you can “ink them white”; do you mean this literally, ie using white ink, or do you mean leaving the page white?
6) What materials can you recommend? I use the same graphite pencils and they’re the best I’ve ever used, but what paper is best that is smooth but can hold ink without warping? What brand is the red pencil (am I correct in guessing Prismacolor?)
7) What do you like to draw for fun, or do you not have it as a hobby anymore?
8) What are your favourite comics? Do you still enjoy reading them?
Nail the eye first , soo true
love your work , love the style and flavour u bring to the tables marvel DC u do a great job
thanks for sharing with us ....keep shining toward your goal of being a beast in the art world
im reading the hulk origins from stan lee its not even from marvel its simon and shuster hard cover from 1972
its in my draw right next to me
your work will live forever , you really remind me of gil kane
please keep the vids coming and bless you and your fam stay safe 👍🏽
plus the red pencil is a craftmans tool i use red or blue its the break down of ideas ...sometimes i draw a sketch then slap it over a light box but its been a very long time for me ....its a must for ideas unless you use Photo shop or something
im so ghetto i made my own light box and lots of people said isnt that tracing art work , not if i draw it thats just the start of my idea ..i use red or blue to pick and chose
people forgot you need to read the writers story and draw it
Just his initial sketch for a few seconds made me cuss. HE'S SO GOOD. MUCH RESPECT 🤧🤧🤧
At 8:40, that's a neat way to draw hair. It's almost reminiscent of painting, except it's using graphite.
he's good at explaining
I feel happy for this artist

Awesome 👍
NICE!
That explains why your style is very similar to Jim's. He's definitely my top 2 favorite artists.
Bro!!! Your dad is a fucking legend - - my hero...!!! 19:12
I smiled a smile of satisfaction.
