It totally would, and then they came out with an actual monkey has a playable thing lol

Definitely, you don't have to stick with him just smacking people, monkeys can use tools lol
I've actually played DK in one of my campaigns, and no joke used the exact same build (except with Bugbear for their long arms). Love how I found myself nodding at this whole video!
Timeless Body is a funny thought. This version has been around since the '90s unchanged, but the original DK sure aged! If only he had taken this ability!

2 levels of moon druid, 3 levels of giant barb, 5 levels of monk. 2 levels of paladin for smite if your dm lets you. Like his big punch in smash bros

Hang on - does your starting class dictate what hit dice you have from Level 1 to Level 20, regardless of any multiclassing? Because that's very much what you implied when you said an optimal version of this build would be to start with Barbarian.
That would actually solve a problem I was having with a "matched set" of builds I was doing.
No it just means you start with more health at level 1 since you would get 12 plus con rather than 8 plus con. After that you use the hit die of which ever class you took that level in.

Question for you cause i'm not seeing the rules for this and I genuinely want to do what you're saying.
At 7:25 you said deflect missles and crushing throw synergizes. Crushing thow looks to only apply to thrown weapon. Deflect missles gives you proficiency with the attack roll and they count as monk weapons.
Is there a rules as written interpretation where you can convert an arrow shot at you to have the thrown property? I'd allow it as a DM, but if there is not a rule about it as a PC without DM blessings you'd be missing out on being able to attack with strength and getting the rage damage.
That's actually a pretty valid point, I guess it would lead to interpretation of the rules by the DM, I would probably rule it that they can synergize, but not every DM would agree. I think you made a valid point
