I think this shows how great a creator he is. Instead of raging about how outlandish a gun was (an admittedly understandable reaction), he was easily able to tweak it into something that really fit into the world he had created.
Great vid! Interesting to learn how Diddy got his now-iconic peanut guns.
Another fact about the peanut popguns, is that they really only became famous after Smash Bros Brawl. Before then, they weren't really associated with each other, but now they're inseparable.
@@windturbine6796 it really makes you think how different Donkey Kongs moveset might have been if smash was developed after instead of during DK 64. Would he have been able to throw oranges and have the coconut gun or would he have still been the grappler we have today.

Watching the full video makes the back story more interesting
I think it says a lot about Miyamoto that he didn't lose his cool. He must have recognized those guns were meant to be placeholders and instead his mind went to work on how he could make this fit.
The fact that he casually drew a picture shows, at least to me, that he viewed Rare as an equal partner. What a special moment of Miyamoto offering his direct support.

There's a conspiracy theory that DKC is actually anti-american propaganda, as it supposedly refers to the "banana wars" or somethin' and King K. Rool is a stereotype of a typical american being fat and thinking they're above everyone else.

Theory: the reason why almost none of the characters in this game never returned. Dk shot them all
If you point it towards the camera, it shoots a permanent hole in the 4th wall, piercing through to whatever is on the other side, likely killing the player and allowing Him to escape.

Because there wasn't high quality footage of the early version so someone must've remade the placeholder model and modded it in to give an idea of what it would look like

Well, imagine if Mario had a gun, and Link had a gun. I can see how the usually fundamental gameplay mechanics would change from their typical demeanor.

Most likely they never existed. The realistic guns were used as placeholders (you can see that the DK Rap still calls it a coconut gun)
The gun was changed because of Miyamoto and the rap was implemented before that happened.

Hey Thomas, I don't know if you've ever made a video on this yet, but could you please make a video on the history of Paper Mario? Why does he exist? Who came up with the idea of Mario being put in this flat new world where everything, including him, was made of paper? Why did nintendo think this was such a good idea? And why would they let the same person who made Sticker Star, make a Paper Mario game for the Wii U knowing how bad Sticker Star was? Even though I do think Color Splash was WAY better than Sticker Star
