You’re tearing up because you witnessed one of the most beautiful and powerful songs ever written. I have heard this song hundreds of times and it still brings me to tears.
🫡💯
Plus so much emotion and spectacle. It's still hard to believe he's gone, and that's pretty devastating for me, too.
This!!! Yes, exactly!
Well then you have to see Purple Rain!
She will now, guaranteed
And olease watch with us lol
An absolute must that you see the movie.
And afterwards watch the 18 minute live version of purple rain
There are a number of songs from the soundtrack that you might want to react to. "Let's Go Crazy", "The Beautiful Ones", and "Baby I'm A Star" are possible reactions you could do apart from the movie.
Possibly the most talented man who has ever lived
Played 27 instruments. When he passed he had thousands of unreleased songs in a vault at Paisley Park his home and studio in Chanhassen Mn outside of Minneapolis. My favorite artist of all time. His halftime show was ridiculous, widely considered the best of all time m
You're goddamn right
Prince was 1984. The movie and the song were huge. Everyone loved him.
Prince and Van Halen was 1984
The 'new thing' in pubs back then were video jukeboxes, this was played constantly and no one got sick of it. You'd watch someone watching it for the first time and get a kick out of it too. Kinda like here 40yrs later lol.
Those of us who were there when Prince came out with this production, we saw it in the theater, we heard it on the radio, we knew we were witnessing genius. Something wonderful.
You’re tearing up because you’re WITNESSING something spiritual!!! It was crazy watching the smile grow during the guitar solo. Great reaction.
Prince is the only person with a #1 song, album, and movie at the same time. Purple Rain.
True
You get Prince. He was a one of a kind Artist and no one will ever compare. Trust & Believe.
PRINCE PERFORMED ONE OF THE BEST SUPERBOWL HALF TIME SHOWS OF ALL TIME...HE PERFORMED PURPLE RAIN IN THE RAIN... THAT HALF TIME CONCERT WAS THE BEST HALF TIME SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN!!!💫🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎
That little dude had more talent in his pinkie finger than half the artists today. If it had strings, he could make music with it. Requescat en pace, my brother.😪✌️❤️
Prince is the GOAT!😎❤️👍🏽
I saw him in concert 🎵 so I got to experience him live in concert! It was an almost out of body experience for me! Wow! Rest in Peace “The Purple One”.
Great 👍🏽 request! 👍🏽😎⭐️❤️🎶🎤🎹💿🎤
Loved the reaction from Ashley! ❤️😎⭐️👍🏽👍🏽🔥🔥💕💕
Oddly enough, they just ran this movie last night as tribute to Black History month. I watched again. This movie has a whole collection of hits.
One of my favorites.... many great live performances of Prince Purple Rain.... so very missed! RIP Prince.
You should see the version of Purple Rain from the 1985 live show. It's relentless. Pure emotion.🎁🎁🔥🔥🎼
This will always one my songs it has so much emotion I can't believe this marks 41 years this song and movie rest in peace prince
Did you say 41 years, omg I'm old.
The '80s was, indeed, a great time for music. Prince, MJ, and Madonna all in their prime. Hip-hop coming into itself. New wave going strong. Champagne soul bringing R&B into the era of Black prosperity. There was something for everybody.
He performed this song at halftime of the Super Bowl few years before he passes... and it started raining!!!!! Of course the purple lights on stage made the rain drops look purple. Legendary!!
In my opinion, his greatest album. Every song is a hit. The man was a musical genius and yes, I grew up in that era. He is my favorite musician. Rest in Heaven Prince.
No Doubt!!
Might be the best album of the '80s... better than Thriller and yes, I'm a MJ fan
He gave the best concerts❤❤❤❤
Yes I went to 3 ..loved everyone of them❤
She's react to Diamonds and Pearls next ?
Although, I never seen him live. I grew up when his music was released. He was the man. I went to the theater when Purple rain was first released.
The song and the movie are both iconic 👑👑🎼🎼🎥🎥🔥🔥RIP His Royal Badness 🙏🏽🙏🏽
PERFECTION!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥I'm glad I got the honor to see him live.
He still brings me to tears after 43 years ... Great reaction 😊
Yes Ashley, you MUST watch the movie......Purple Rain brings it all together.......for the record, the song is about finding/rekindling faith at the end of the world - (purple rain being a mixture of red blood in a blue sky)
You have got to watch the movie now. Without having seen the movie you are still feeling the emotion of that scene and song from the movie. He wrote and directed the movie and wrote and produced the soundtrack for the movie . He was a genius. No disrespect to Michael Jackson but Prince wrote and produced all of his songs and put out other star that he produced for . He started Morris Day and the time , which Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis, and Alexander O'neal. His female protege was Sheile E. Just to name a few. Rest In Purple ,Prince
I used to think Michael was better before one of my friends let know everything prince was capable of doing and then I heard Eric Clapton was asked in a interview/ what's it like to the greatest guitarist in the world and he said I don't know/ go ask prince.
A lot of emotions in that song, even felt in the guitar solo, the tearing up is understandable
This is Prince biggest song. When this released he had the number 1 song , album and movie in the world. PURPLE RAIN made him an international star and household name. Your tears were caused because this song just hits deep. It takes you for a ride that you truly don’t want to end❤perfect reaction,,,
Saw Prince, the Time and Shelia E during his Purple Rain tour , the energy was beyond electric.
Prince...the first artist to have the #1 Album, single, and movie at the same time. 💜
That guitar 🎸 silo he do still tears me up..start living guitars after this..RIP MISS YOUR MUSIC❤❤❤❤
My favorite artist (in music) and whom I consider the G.o,a.t in music. Loved the reaction. I am so thankful I saw him live twice and have his music to listen to daily.
Watch The movie so you can see why "Computer Blue" is one of the best rock arranged songs of all time and/or react to it.
GREAT reaction!!!!! ❤
Purple Rain is a forever classic. I tear up everytime I hear it too because it's iconic. I miss him so much. Prince is and will always be legendary.
So much talent wrapped up in one man - singer, writer, producer, musician! My absolute favorite by him!
Real recognizes real! I actually cried when he passed, there will never be another. RIP to this great spirit
PRINCE IS ONE OF THE TOP 5 MUSICIANS IN HISTORY OF MUSIC!!!!🎤🎤🎤🔥🔥🔥🫡🫡🫡
Because it brings you to tears when you witness greatness for the first time
Prince was always the man.
Talent unbound .
It was fantastic. I remember when I first heard his debut album. I was at a party in someone's garage and I Wanna Be Your Lover came on. All the girls started swooning and the boys just didn't understand what we saw in him. LOL That was 1979.
That was the first time I heard Prince. The UK band The Brand New Heavies stole that melody for Dream On, Dreamer in 1993. They just slowed it down..
This song is otherworldly. It's transcendant.
I love this song Prince is a legend great job on an amazing reaction
U teared up because u was experiencing something magical. That guitar solo gets me every time. He makes that guitar sing to your soul. U feel the emotion in it.
Love this song ❤❤❤❤❤
simply one of the best songs EVER…I get chills EVERYTIME I HEAR IT. My gawd…🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This song was an absolute masterpiece, a tour de force.
The "Purple Rain" song, album, and movie all came out in 1984. I'll never forget watching "Purple Rain" in the theater when it was first released. The atmosphere was electric and super-hyped. To this day I've never heard more female screaming in a movie theater than I did that night in 1984. Wow!
Brother Prince Rogers Nelson" Was Definitely One Of Our GEMS" That We'll Never See Again" To Not Know Of His Genius Is An Ultimate Sin" Rest In Purple Grace" Dear Brother Prince"
I think this is his signature song. And that's saying something, considering his vast library of music.
The music of Prince is a good rabbit-hole to get lost in.
The reason she teared up is because her mind has been set free!
This the best video. This classic is fya. Prince. May you continue to rest, baby boy. People like Ashley will keep you here through your music.
Tearing up to this song means your FELT it and GOT IT! Purple Rain does that each listen!!
It WAS bananas to be alive when Prince was becoming PRINCE. His first single ("Soft and Wet") came out when I was in junior high. (I grew up in L.A., so we probably got exposed to him faster than some other places.) I saw him in concert the first time at 16 (got my first contact high and my ears were ringing for two days because he was doing arenas on that 1999 Tour, but that show was in the Universal Amphitheater - much smaller - and I don't think they accounted for that lol.) I was fortunate enough to see the Purple Rain Tour 6 times in 1985 (I worked in a record store that had a TicketMaster outlet and my friend's dad also had a side hustle at the Forum.) We actually managed to get onstage in the last one and meet him backstage afterwards (conversation wasn't really his thing though lol.) To be 18 (and work in a record store) in 1985 really was something. The last time (of 18) that I saw him in concert was back at the Forum in 2011 when he was performing all the old hits again. Nostalgia on steroids.
Lucky 🍀
@@A.Light33 I think this younger generation is going to end up feeling the same way about Bruno Mars. He's like James Brown, Michael Jackson and Prince had a baby lol. I never saw James Brown in concert, but I saw the J5 the first time at 4 years old and many more times after that (even got to spend 5 days at Neverland and see MJ be a regular dad, but that's a story for a different post lol). Whatever the "it" is that they had, Bruno has it too.
You MUST go down the Prince rabbit hole! Extremely talented artist and able to play 50 instruments. He had a tough upbringing amd he channeled it to music. Gifted man.
Great reaction, you’re absolutely right it was a time.
Madonna, Micheal Jackson and Prince were huge at the same time. Years later, the joke was "Remember back when everyone thought Prince was the weird one?"😄
I think they were all born in the same year, too... 1958.
I'm going to see "Purple Rain" in a movie theatre tomorrow night here in Stockholm. Nice retro night✨💜✨👍🏼✨
I was in middle school when 1999 came out… watching him blow up was pretty great. One of a kind 💜 more please
Ashley, you are the best. 🙏
The live 1985 version is must see!
Those tears are because this song touches your soul
When there's blood in the sky - red and blue = purple... purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith/God guide you through the purple rain....Yes watch the movie maam....🔥🔥1984.
The fact that you're tearing up and you didn't watch the movie speaks to how in tune you are with this song. When you finally watch the movie, you'll have a clear picture of this comment.
yes, that clip is from the movie
You should see his performance of this at the Super Bowl...in the literal rain! So good
Prince was a 🐐
At one point in my air force days we watched Purple Rain the movie after work everyday for about 6 weeks(1984). It was about 4 guys and 5 women. We never planned to do that, we just did it. That's what it was like for us in real time❤.
This is an edit of the full 11 minute live version. Wendy and Lisa did not write this song Prince did. The is from the movie. His father’s real name is John L Nelson. The song is about the end of the world.
@@kenneth2875 …..Fun Fact….did you know Prince first wrote the music for Stevie Nicks and asked her to write the lyrics…..she declined saying too much pressure, so he wrote it.
Ash you’ve gotta see his iconic performance of this at the Super Bowl- his entire performance! It’s one of the greatest half time shows ever! ❤
Saw this in the theater opening weekend when I was a teen with my cousins. What a time to be alive
Prince was already a star at this time, but this song, album and movie made him an INTERNATIONAL superstar!
Saw this movie the night it opened. The theatre was standing room only. The night Prince became an Icon.
you have to see the movie to understand the song....they go together.
You need to see the "Purple Rain Live in Syracuse 1985" performance. It's 16 mins of emotion. One of his best, if not the best, guitar solos.
It was a special moment watching him perform this at the Super Bowl, and it started raining mid performance.
We had everything in the 80s. From the birth of hip hop, heavy metal, new wave, MJ, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, and Madonna.
Prince is one of many artist that you have to start from the beginning and work your way up. You wasn't ready for purple rain yet
This is his biggest song ever...This one song sold more copies than any song that he has ever done...
Best R&B, Motown rocker ever.
I STILL MISS HIM SO MUCH 😢😢
💜💜💜💜
YOU MUST SEE PURPLE RAIN!!!!!!❤🥰
You really need to see the film for the video to make complete sense.
You can gain a great appreciation and understanding for some things if you view Purple Rain. This song has many questioning if they are chopping onions.
H.E.R. is like a mini Prince when it comes to instrumental talent.
Now imagine him signing this song at the superbowl and it literally starts raining as he is singing this song
I was 11 years old in 1979 when I first saw prince perform on national television and I thought to myself, "Egads, what has the world come to?" When the movie Purple Rain dropped I thought, "Oh God, please no!"
But then a few years later the songs Little Nicky & Kiss caught my attention and I thought, "Okay, I can dig it."
Finally watched the movie sometime in the mid to late 90's. Wow! It changed my whole perspective on who & what the man is & was. The guy truly was a Prince. He will forever hold my utmost respect as a man & musician. RIP Prince.
And yes, I'm a white guy.
Thank U Ashley; imagine when we ear this song in 1984...amazing
The single, the album, and the movie are Iconic
Watch that movie!!!!!!!!!!!😊.
I grew up with this song and watched that movie so many times🥰thank you,for your reaction❤🙏
I cannot believe this is the first time you are hearing this. No one suggested it because no one could believe that was possible. I'm so glad you finally know. Everyone will tell you to seek out the live performances. Every time I saw him perform this song live, It was like church In the venue.
😮Right..
This song stills gives me the chills
You should react to him performing at the superbowl. When he performed this song, it was actually raining, and he had the crowd singing at the end of the song
That is how you know he was sent to us by God. We love you P... Thank you for the gift of you... Rest in Paradise our Purple Brother.. See you on the other side... 💜☔
The song will make you cry...
You should see the live concert in Syracuse, N.Y. in the Carrier Dome.
Prince and MJ da GOATS
I remember when this movie and album came out in 1984. Saw the movie in theaters and went to the concert that year. That was the summer going into my 9th grade year of HS. Crazy!!!!
Yes 😊..this IS the best song
