The area around the train station and Chinatown is pretty rough as is the area near the Burnside bridge I have lived here for 14 years and Portland is better but not as good as it was when I first came here but what city is better?

@mgman6000 My Dad worked at NW natural gas downtown by the steel bridge. I was really bad then. Park street was all peep shows, gay bars and strip clubs.

I am amazed at your ability to film this video without tents and overflowing shopping carts in the background. No Portland is not a wasteland, but it certainly has dropped off the last 10 years. No worries as Beaverton, Hillsboro and a handful of other burbs have taken off.

When were you there last? I was there last weekend. It's remarkably cleaned up. The only good thing that came out of the pandemic was outdoor seating at restaurants. There is so much potential down there. I walked all around downtown......I was disappointed the Keller Fountain is still empty. I never felt threatened. Everyone was nice and pleasant. But not enough people. Lots of things in the works, but it all takes time. Where are all you transplants with real estate money just waiting for a commercial opportunity? I'm so tired of internet shopping funding oligarch's rockets into space.

Bc all the businesses vacated and left bc it’s infested with fentanyl addicts and filthy and unsafe - take it from me, I live here! Trying to get out!

  • @michelle4688
    @michelle4688 5 дней назад

Portland SUCKS, mate, I fink maybe try livin heya, you’ll change ya mind!
This vid is so curated it’s completely inaccurate.
For real. It is absolutely heinous here. I cannot escape soon enough and I’ve lived here for almost 3 decades here, downtown, and in the past 5-10yr it has been a steadily rapid downhill spiral. I’ve been looking to relocate out of the city for a while now.
I won’t re-write the novel but basically despite its walkability you can’t WALK safely without stepping over bodies and fentanyl foil, drive anywhere without nonsensical and confusing new infrastructure, RENT or OWN bc of exorbitant real estate and rental coasts, or LOOK anywhere without seeing trash, drugged out homeless, tents and drug paraphernalia and graffiti and broken windows.
Downtown is quiet in this vid bc all the businesses have vacated, closed up and relocated elsewhere bc downtown is a filthy, unsafe eyesore, overrun by the drug gangs, who dominate the core. City leadership has allowed the city to turn to squalor.
The Ritz Carlton is mostly vacant and it upended a robust food cart pod that made that spot uniquely Portland - dozens of private businesses upended.
There was a Target on the same block as the Ritz but it couldn’t keep up with all the theft, crime and panhandling and was losing money - so it, like so many downtown businesses - shuttered and took its biz elsewhere - where people aren’t afraid to shop.
Pioneer Square is infested with drug addicts selling and accosting passers-by and passing out high with needles still in their arms. Shootings and stabbings at The Square on the regular - there’s even ambulance sirens during this segment!!!
Sorry dude, but a view of the snow capped mountains doesn’t make up for the terrible quality of life offered in downtown. Unless you’re interested in the fentanyl trade - then Downtown Portland is your paradise! A warm welcome from Portland City Council, courtesy of the taxpayers! You’re welcome!
And it’s not safe to walk to VooDoo.
This vid is a misrepresentation. Take it from a long time resident. Don’t come to Portland, downtown or otherwise. It’s only a matter of degree in the different neighborhoods. The city is rapidly going the way of Skid Row.

I love Portland, but stop sending people to Voodoo Donuts. Their success is clever marketing, cute names, and lots of frosting to take you mind off the truly craptastic donuts. I groan every time someone brings them to a meeting. Blue Star Donuts are good. Actually, almost all the donuts in Portland are decent. I love donuts, but Voodoo Donuts are inedible. Too much frosting. All decoration and naming, nothing to do with flavor.

    • @relocatingtoportlandoregon

I actually really like Voodoo! The Portland Cream is super soft in the middle with nice filling.
Have you tried Pips donuts on NE Fremont? That’s my favorite donut shop and dangerously close to my office!

@@relocatingtoportlandoregon I will have to try Pips. I am picky about donuts. They have to be delicious without any frosting. My mom had a cafe and was renowned for her donuts. Her recipe begins "Take 10 pounds of flour..."
