I have to say, this was one of the best "Club Random" episodes Bill has ever had so far. I really enjoyed this podcast/RUclips Video!!! So appreciate Howie Mandel and what he has gone thru in his life, and still one of the funniest comedians. Bill and Howie make a great comedy team here too!!! Thank you both for all you do!!!
For kids, immature adults, too, 'genuine' often comes across as just weird because it's all about norms and acceptance, which means covering up your vulnerabilities. Genuine kids tend to get bullied, if they are not just ignored.
OMG...I have not laughed so hard in a long time!! Howie is so funny and so quick with his jokes - he is hilarious!! You guys just made my day with the laughter!! I love this podcast!!
Bill you did a very good job listening to your guest and allowing us viewers to do so also, giving him room to talk is much appreciated. Howie you seem like a nice guy. Thank you both !
Thank You Howie!! I have agoraphobia stemming from a traumatic event (tied up and almost murdered) and my mother has OCD I think from her Dad dying young & her mother was narcissistic & cruel. I appreciate Howie being open about irrational fear. Because even if it did stem from an event anyone would be afraid of, it comes to a point of knowing you are fuct - and realizing, now what do I do? And those answers are few & far in these young days of psychology- but we all can and MUST have hope.
Ufff my girl that’s rough…I sympathize with you , I’ve had episodes of agoraphobia, and jesus that’s not fun…I’ve had to change and instill in my mind that I have to keep going and my family needs me …I still don’t go out as much, but I’m far better than I used to be..I’m sorry that you have to go through it and your case seems very traumatic..I’m glad you’re open about it….there’s a marvel superhero, called sentry and the whole premise of this particular character is that he has agoraphobia and he’s one of , if not, the strongest superhero, even stronger than hulk, but he has this mental block where he can’t leave the house even if the world’s ending..I’m sorry I went full blown geek on you, but is to show you even superheroes have problems like we do

@Sasha White I'm really sorry that happened to you. I'm in a similar boat, trauma is so insidious in how it so often manifests in our lives in such debilitating ways. You're a soldier.
This was so profound for someone like me who has just diagnosed in her 40s with ADHD and mild OCD and other mild things to hear Howie’s story. Mind blowing and informative 🙏🏻 Thank you Bill. I was a huge fan of you as long as I can remember learning English and coming to LA (a girl who was born and raised Muslim in fucking Iran until I was 30) and even though I’ve found it that you can be arrogant and ass hole some times but I admit that knowing you was just liberating for me. You are my secret precious thing that I watch alone because no one around me in my family can understand your point of views although I became atheist since I was 22 and was still living in Iran without any help from you and other great western thinkers. I once emailed your HBO show years ago to come and see your show in person but I couldn’t come to the conclusion to exploit my love and admiration for you because it’s very personal to me.
I was on AGT when Howle was a judge, and I really couldn’t wait to tell him what a fan I was, him and Howard. As a little girl, Bobby’s World was a huge part of my world. He came off as a very kind person; not a bubble popper at all. I wish him the best.
I think this podcast was a very smart move. It's clearly not a way for him to get out of his HBO contract even if for the sake of argument it blows up and becomes on the biggest podcasts. You can tell Bill wants to do Real time for however long HBO allows him to and he's physically able to. I would guess if my mother had partaken of a trampoline or rebounder in her 50's she would possibly have avoided the issues that plague her at 71. Bill, we love you, this podcast is so fun and, indeed, random. All of the episodes so far have been full of so many small gems that I would say deserve more exploration. Most interesting has been your views on medicine and health. Would you consider having a guest with whom you can discuss these topics further? I.e. the four humors/temperaments as well as non-surgery, non-pharmaceutical approaches to maintaining personal health and longevity. Thanks again for sharing your wisdom along with the wisdom of your guests. Love you!
Man, this had everything. I was looking forward to this one because I didn't know what kind of relationship Maher had with Mandel, and boy did it exceed my expectations.
I've been a Bill Maher fan for years and years. Yet, I was skeptical when he announced a podcast. But wow, the guests he has are all great. And it's so funny to see Bill do commercials non-ironically.
I had OCD that plagued me from my teenage years. I scored extremely high on the Yale Brown test. I had bad compulsions that crippled me too but the obsessions were the most awful thing ever. I woke up with them and went to bed with them. It had me completely shut down and unable to work or function for over 20 years. I couldn't be around people, I couldn't read books or watch tv or listen to the radio. It all triggered the most awful obsessions. I was shut down and daily tortured. Finally my physical symptoms got so bad I got to an immunologist. I had figured out that wheat made me feel physically sick and I was telling him that and he told me that OCD can be caused by wheat. I stopped using wheat and my OCD is gone. Not reduced but completely gone. If I get wheat in me then it rages back and I'm in it for 3 to 5 days depending on the severity of the exposure. Unfortunately I don't have celiacs. Mine is more like a peanut contact allergen so if I touch it or smell it or eat wheat I get sick. It's not just wheat. Anything with gluten and gliaden like barley. There are a number of things. I am a fifty-nine year old man who had OCD as a child. I cried through Howie's story of being a child tied down in his underwear while having his skin burned by a dermatologist. Oh my god, I have always loved Howie Mandel. Now, I love him even more and I hope by simply thinking about him that I can bring a little comfort to him when he's suffering with the pain of this brain disorder. Howie, I love you. You are such a good man and you have succeeded so amazingly in spite of your illness.
The lighting is awesome on this video. Thank you. Howie is so wonderful because he is so authentic about himself, and, so down to earth. Thank you both.
How can you not love Howie Mandel? His standup, while not for everyone in the year 2022, was still special. It was unique. Howie was a true original. Got to give him props for that. Back in the 80s, his comedy was universally funny to everyone. He was a standout comic, definitely a bonafide member of the top echelon of comics. His name was up there with all the top comics of the day. Just knowing his back-story is a gift. The same way we all can relate to Robin Williams’ human background, his addiction, his personal pain, it’s the same with Howie. It makes them both extra special & beloved.
The combination of the trampoline bit, Bill saying Scalawag and calling Howie Sweetheart had me laughing like I haven't in a long time. I'm so glad Bill made this podcast. The only thing I look forward to on Sunday now…
We need a sequel to this one. Bring on Pt 2. If you want to see a great Howie Mandel movie from the 80s that the comedy still holds up today, watch A Fine Mess. Howie and Ted Danson. It's hilarious. It's even got the guy that played Paulie in Goodfellas.
So far, in a series of great interviews, this one connected. You go, Bill! I love this format because so do you. And that conveys to us. Howie has to be the guest from god (or whomever). Brilliant. And thank you.
When Howie said there is no joke that is not rooted in darkness, my mind went to the joke they said earlier about keeping a carrot up his ass because hindsight is 20/20. Wait. That is the epitome of a joke rooted in darkness.
I've been rebounding for years and know about the lymph. Too funny that Mahr bounces too. Love the reference to "nuts" vs "body image positivity". So true!
I get you Howie. You are the kind of person I can chat with for a long time. Aside from his anxieties, he remains positive in his own humorous ways. I wish I could just sit and chat with him someday. If Howie is performing this year in Hawaii, we would love to see him. Where can we see what shows Howie will be performing at?
This is only the second video I've seen of Club Random with Bill Maher. I thought the first one I watched that was with Fran Lebowitz was good, but the chemistry between Bill Maher and Howie Mandel, was excellent. I'm a big fan of Howie's. How refreshing to see him speaking openly about his mental health at more length than usual. Bill gave Howie lots of space to talk which was smart of him. Anyone that watches Bill on his tv show will know that he has a tendency of interrupting his guests. Here he simply made the effort to listen and let Howie talk. Great video.
I LOVE THIS PODCAST! Great guests+Bill! Already over 93,000 RUclips subscribers! I've loved Howie Mandell since the TV show of St.Elsewhere. Bill, PLEASE TRY TO INTERVIEW PAUL MCCARTNEY OR RINGO STARR! WHAT A GREAT INTERVIEW FOR CLUB RANDOM!
I've followed Howie most of my life. Met his parents. Really nice guy. I can tell you some crazy stories about him as a teenager. But I've never heard him open up like this.
I love Howie's take on comedy relative to the cancel culture. He's spot on. Humor is from darkness. Comedy is not supposed to be "nice." And comedy is not the same as satire, puns or anything else. It's simply comedy.
I LOVE my life. Just turned 70, living in Santa Fe for the art and the weather. If I had known this time of my life was going to be so satisfying I would have worried less.
I’ve got a whole new take on Howie Mandel. I always knew he was funny but this interview has explained so much for me. Facing your fears on a daily basis is something many folks do without anyone noticing. Great to hear them laugh at the world together.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! BILL MAHER is brilliant & so is Howie but the 2 together? Amazingly entertaining & very informative! I loved every minute. Bill is a teacher!
That's why you need to learn about people's experiences before judging them. Imagine people being prejudiced on Howie without knowing the reason why he has OCD.
We still shouldn't validate a bad experience to warble perspective and reality...its harder to get over, but we still need to get over it tho...a lot of kids had cancer as a child for example, people have horrible experiences you can't let it define the rest of your life or overwrite actual reality...
You rock Bill. I know he doesn’t read these but just felt like saying this. One of my favorite people on the planet. Such a treat to see him in this venue. More Bill Maher than cravingly anticipated Real Time or special. Yay!
Love ya Bill and Howie! I relate so much the same it's Wild! IF I had that kind of trauma with sand flea's, fuck where would I be today.... When you said "I'm not a happy guy" I nearly cried a loud. If only I could have this same chance to sit and talk with you.
For Howie....He needs to look into psilocybin with a guided therapist. They are making huge strides with OCD, depression, addiction, fear, PTS and all kinds of disorders where people are stuck. You only have to do it once. He's a perfect candidate for it. Have him research it. They are in Phase 3 trials at major research hospitals. It's revolutionary.
no he is howie he really dosnt i cant touch humans i just cat so no relationships ... howies shows other humans why. oh ill stuill suffer ill still hurt ut its a little better
This was the BEST!! Have always liked Howie since my eldest discovered “Bobby!” Good to see real men talk, relate, laugh and simply listen.. bright blessings and thank you!
Real Time is an average of maybe 50% boring, whereas this show is zero % boring. Such pure, clever, spontaeity with all guests thus far. Howey is by far the most entertaining of your guests thus far. He made a witty comedy bit out of the entire interaction. And you went with it marvelously as the sort of the straight man. Great show!
"Forget it, I am not going to Hawaii, jumping on the trampoline clearing my lymphatic system.... with a carrot in my ass improving my "hind sight"! My fav episode so far!
OCD is expressed in many kinds of ways. Often one suffers from extreme self doubt,....the kind of OCD that makes some of us to keep checking to see if our door is locked or the stove is off, before we leave the house. We need to check and recheck, some times a 100 times, even though logic and common sense informs us that we did it. Some people need to wash their hands 20 times in a row,...or check their pockets for their keys. Something as dumb as that can ruin your whole life. Or impede one's life.
Omg I got more out of this episode than most of my life put together🤣💪🏻 I hope Howie gets his trampoline👌🏻🤣 Bill you are a genius! I look forward to this every week! I believe you could help Howie. Motivate him to try different things. I grew up to both of you. Have a great night fellows😝🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

The same way we all can relate to Robin Williams’ human background, his addiction, his personal pain, it’s the same with Howie. It makes them both extra special & beloved.
I really enjoyed this, Bill isn't totally swacked and is listening and not interrupting all of the time. Great conversation, more like this please.
The combination of the trampoline bit, Bill saying Scalawag and calling Howie Sweetheart had me laughing like I haven't in a long time. I'm so glad Bill made this podcast. The only thing I look forward to on Sunday now…
lmao i blew a gasket when Howie said Sweatheart??? HAHHA
He called Killer Mike sweetheart too. Hilarious.
@@lovesthetunes yea haha I seen that haha Mike let it fly by haha
The Start Of Appreciation For Each Other ♥️ I Love You,Being Men In Today's World That's Rare.
So far, this interview was the best. I'd like to see Howie return. What a thoughtful and funny man.
Paul Sorvino
I love this movie. It was the first time I saw Howie in anything and I became a fan.
Howie you're my favorite person 💛 I feel I get you. You're not alone
So far, in a series of great interviews, this one connected. You go, Bill! I love this format because so do you. And that conveys to us. Howie has to be the guest from god (or whomever). Brilliant. And thank you.
This was the BEST episode to date. I wish I could hang out with Bill Maher for a hour.
So true!
Love the podcast Bill and seeing Howie kicking back is great
OCD is horrific. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Howie is my hero. And boy, would I love to get high with Bill.
I always thought OCD was more on the minor side but after hearing this, I think differently
@@brianmeen2158 just depends on how bad you have it
@@brianmeen2158 OCD can leave someone debilitated unable to work.
Agreed! I feel for Howie. AND....I'd love to get high with Bill too.
If you get high with Bill, you might have trouble getting in a complete sentence.
Loved it. I wish we had comments from you Bill after the show just on your thoughts about the guest.
Excellent and entertaining interview, love and respect for both Bill and Howie.
I love listening to comics talk about the business of being funny. Howie and Bill are great together. ❤️❤️❤️
I've followed Howie most of my life. Met his parents. Really nice guy. I can tell you some crazy stories about him as a teenager. But I've never heard him open up like this.
Great interview. Sheesh I can't stop watching Bill's interviews, Thanks!
I love Howie's take on comedy relative to the cancel culture. He's spot on. Humor is from darkness. Comedy is not supposed to be "nice." And comedy is not the same as satire, puns or anything else. It's simply comedy.
This is the best one of the shows so far!
Howie all the love in the world and thanks for the laughter you've brought to this world of ours. Cheers.
I LOVE my life. Just turned 70, living in Santa Fe for the art and the weather. If I had known this time of my life was going to be so satisfying I would have worried less.
Fantastic chemistry. The back and forth between these two is infinitely entertaining.
I’ve got a whole new take on Howie Mandel.
I always knew he was funny but this interview has explained so much for me. Facing your fears on a daily basis is something many folks do without anyone noticing. Great to hear them laugh at the world together.
Howie is so real. I loved this interaction. Funny AF!
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! BILL MAHER is brilliant & so is Howie but the 2 together? Amazingly entertaining & very informative! I loved every minute. Bill is a teacher!
Thanks Bill this podcast it was even better then I expected 😍
Best one yet! This was great show. Thank you.
That's why you need to learn about people's experiences before judging them. Imagine people being prejudiced on Howie without knowing the reason why he has OCD.
That experience sounds absolutely hellish. I’m sick to my stomach just hearing about it.
We still shouldn't validate a bad experience to warble perspective and reality...its harder to get over, but we still need to get over it tho...a lot of kids had cancer as a child for example, people have horrible experiences you can't let it define the rest of your life or overwrite actual reality...
The best so far!! Howie's quick wit is so great! Couldn't have a better ending with the proposal in Hawaii.
33:50 what about those other people, they can go pound sand.
This was brilliant, thank you both Howie and Bill.
Brilliant, two super bright guys chatting! Thank you!
This one was my favourite so far. First I've hear of Howie Mandel. Brilliant character. I'm ADHD too.
Thank you, Howie, I've always enjoyed the hell out of you, now I have MAD respect! Heart-wrenching.
Bill and Howie need their OWN podcast, I could listen for hours! Both incredible individuals
It's revolutionary.
no he is howie
he really dosnt
i cant touch humans i just cat so no relationships ... howies shows other humans why. oh ill stuill suffer ill still hurt ut its a little better
The commercials by Bill get interrupted by the You Tube ads
Good one. Intelligent talk on a casual basis. Love Howie. Love the CR session.
Great show!
I never realized he had such a bad case of OCD . Even with medication he still seems to suffer .
"Forget it, I am not going to Hawaii, jumping on the trampoline clearing my lymphatic system.... with a carrot in my ass improving my "hind sight"! My fav episode so far!
I have a new appreciation of Howie. Hope he doesn't become obsessive about his lymphatic system & trampolines now. 😎
I love these two men! Taking care of my clove plants enjoying your show 😁
Yeah ... Bill smokes clove cigarettes.he he
OCD is expressed in many kinds of ways.
Bill that was a great show I enjoy all of them but this one in particularly I never knew that side of Howie it was dynamic!😂
I had zero idea I would enjoy a Bill Maher podcast this much
Omg I got more out of this episode than most of my life put together🤣💪🏻 I hope Howie gets his trampoline👌🏻🤣 Bill you are a genius! I look forward to this every week! I believe you could help Howie. Motivate him to try different things. I grew up to both of you. Have a great night fellows😝🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Boy I got to tell you this show keeps getting better and better bravo excellent
Great interview and lots of funny moments. Cheers to you both.
Oh Howe we LOVE you!
OCD is so difficult and you are doing so great.
Excellent conversation! Bill Maher is a National Treasure!!!
Proud of Howie. A true blue Canadian. And it appears in everything he says. Thanks Howie. We are of the same age. I grew up in Etobicoke (Toronto) and was at Yuk Yuks often.Good to see you happy. Bill. Thanks for making this happen. Hope he gets that trampoline.
Love this one with Howie Mandel! Thank you so much for the great podcasts that you do! Carrot joke was awesome! 😂
I loved this episode. I'd say the best so far. I was blown away by Howie's OCD orgin story. Hearing it made me feel that.
Omfg, this was Bill’s best one yet! Thank you, Bill and Howie! Laughter, booze and doobie - only way to traverse worldwide insanity and survive😆🙏❣️
