    Thank you, Granger, for this podcast episode. You are right, ultimately all of life's problems can be resolved by trusting the Lord. We will all have trials and sufferings, but if we would lean on Christ, He will carry our burdens. We were not meant to carry it alone. Thanks again.

    I have received comfort from the words you share - you have a gift Granger. Actually I just discovered your music - my daughter listened to you in years back. I have watched your movie 4 times for multiple reasons. I believe its so awesome that you are "all in" to share God's word; that you walked away from your career. I also, pray that you will find a way back to music because your voice and writing is so exceptional. I believe The Lord blessed you in that area as well as ministering to others. I believe a person can minister in so many individual ways - with the gifts God has given us.

    Granger, I am a huge supporter of you and your family, a wife and a mother, and first a Christ follower. But, I also suffer from clinical OCD. God absolutely COULD heal me, and I do not doubt that He is capable. Just like if I broke my leg. He could definitely heal it miraculously. Or He could heal through the blessing of western medicine, doctors, splints, and surgery. Mental illness is often treatable without medication and frequently over diagnosed, but please be careful here. There are many instances where the mental illness is clinical and likely requires medication for remission. Furthermore there are many good, Christian therapists and psychologists who can assist people with or without mental illness. In fact, my childhood church had a counseling department.
    I would encourage anyone suffering from mental illness to never think that because you aren’t better you must not have enough faith. I don’t think that’s what Granger meant here, but I think it’s how it could be taken from someone in the throes of mental illness. Talk to your doctor and talk to a local pastor. Do both. If it’s clinical, your brain is misfiring. Just because we can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not physiological.
    Jesus can heal on earth. Or He can heal fully in Heaven one day when our sanctification is complete.

    Amen. He’s right, we are all sin filled tainted by evil and we are not perfected. We are forgiven. I think one tan I’m seeing here is people talk about being unfulfilled or unhappy, and it comes down to the basic premise of the root of all disappointment is unrealistic expectations. Christian doesn’t make your life perfect you’re not just gonna magically get a paycheck and have everything handed to you on a silver platter because you’re saved. You’re still a human you’re still alive in this world the world is still the same place and it has beautiful parts and ugly parts, some things very satisfying others we don’t like at all that doesn’t go away. But one thing I read over and over and over in the Bible is aligning our will with gods and I think that’s the root of much of our unhappiness, we sit around and think oh I wanna have that motorcycle or this girl or that truck or that car and if we don’t get it, we’re all upset and disappointed that we didn’t get it but nowhere often we were before we’re happy one minute then we see a picture of motorcycle we want it and then we don’t get it now all of a sudden we’re upset. This is the result of unrealistic expectations, and our expectations should not be in alignment with our dreams and fantasies. We should be focused on aligning our desires, and our goals with God’s will because when we do that we have promises that he fulfills. You see this in a lot of examples, of course in the Bible Paul sat in prison, Paul talked about the thorn in his side and all these things he was unhappy about but when he aligned with God‘s will, the guy was happy he sitting there in prison and he’s happy that he can witness to the guards had some sort of thorn in his side that was constant chronic pain And he asked God to take it away, and God said no that his grace was sufficient and Paul eventually got to the point where he appreciated the thorn in his side for keeping him focused. At speakers and people who give testimony you have people that have been paralyzed to young healthy beautiful teenager, breaks her neck and ends up, paralyzed from the waist down, most people would say this is the end. My life sucks. It’s over. It’s nothing but suffering from now on Yet there’s a woman who goes out for decades now has been speaking. She ended up getting married. She ended up having kids she’s happy and she’s paralyzed from the neck down, but she focused on God and she doesn’t enjoy running marathons or being athletic but she focused her life on God’s will, and she goes out and speaks to people, and leads them to find God so that they can be saved and she experiences the joy of that over and over and over and she loves her life and says she wouldn’t trade it for anything. Most of us being put into her situation would consider our lives to be over and destroyed. Perspective, when we focus and align our will with God, those things are going to happen because God is going to make them happen and we’re blessed to get to go along for the ride when we focus on the things of the world you want sports car you’re gonna have to go out and work and make the money to buy it and then you can and if it crashes and you’re not sure whatever then you gotta do it again if you want another one and that’s just reality, and you may not get a lot of the things you desire and if you find that disappointing, then that’s because you gave yourself unrealistic expectations. In a non-Christian or even psychological terminology, we would call that being spoiled, little kids who are given everything on a silver platter act like it’s the end of the world the second they don’t get everything they want because they’re spoiled rotten And kind of how we are, we have all these expectations of things we want we expect to get them and we don’t. It’s upsetting and depressing and the truth is it’s all in our heads. They poor people who are broken, disabled maimed missing body parts and they’re happy, and they’re rich people with all kinds of stuff that are beautiful perfectly healthy have great families and they sit around to Preston crying all the time and chemical balances other things that the truth is they’re constantly disappointed because life doesn’t align with their expectations and trusting something that is not guaranteed. When we align, our desires with God‘s will then things happen and are accomplished and the truth is there a lot of humble missionary type people out there just seeking God‘s face and following his will, and most of us would probably consider lies very boring, but these people are at peace relax they’re comfortable and they’re happy.

    • @ShaneZettelmier
      @ShaneZettelmier 4 месяца назад

      Some of what you talked about was people saying that they fear God and her God-fearing and trying to be good but really religious and don’t really seek God. That kinda goes to what the Bible says about not relying on your own understanding. Means if you ignore God and try to figure everything out yourself. You’re gonna spend a lot of time disappointed because the truth is we live in a flawed world full of flaws and shortcomings, and sometimes you can study and know and learn everything completely and everything is still fall apart and the world will always let you down and you will always let yourself down because we’re not perfect and we’re old and we’ve studied and lived our lives well and learned an experienced and matured, we’re still kind of idiots. God made it pretty simple. He created this universe and told us how everything worked and told us how to live in and prosper and benefit in it. But most of us would rather sit around and complain that God never speaks to us, but we won’t sit there and read his word where he’s already spoken to us. He already took the lies of millions of people and experiences examples and put it into a book simply to us most of us don’t really read it. I’ve been a Christian for 39 years this year. I’m forcing myself to read the entire Bible from cover to cover, I started with the new Testament finished. It started with page one of Genesis and I’m going to read through the entire Old Testament and I just finished Ezra. I’ve done the Bible in the year thing where I kind of fumbled and force myself to read through it so I could say I read it all I’ve done bible studies and listen to endless sermon for decades on this stuff and every day I read I learned something new after 39 years and God speaks to me every day simply by reading. The New Testament to read the Old Testament is a struggle and a lot of it’s incredibly repetitive and incredibly boring a bunch of names and genealogies, but in reading it, you learn the nature of God and the nature of his word and it’s accuracy and everything that went into making it for us. Adam was born on a Monday. I believe it was September 26, 3760 BC going by the Hebrew calendar. Most people don’t realize that all those genealogies were it talks about somebody was 112 when he had his son and he died at 309 etc. etc. and it just goes on for pages and pages and pages, it list history from the date of creation. The reason why it doesn’t cover every single one of the brothers and sons. These people had it because that’s not what it’s telling us. It’s telling us how this was created and how long it’s been and shows how the Bible unlike any piece of literature or record system in history is infallibly accurate to the day. When Jesus was on the cross, we can tell that he died at 3 PM on Passover. The same time that he said it is finished, if you understand the sacrifice of the final Lamb on Passover simultaneously in the temples, the priest were looking out to the sky and saying it is finished because that was the end of the ceremony and sacrifice of the lambs on Passover, when Jesus was on the cross, there was an eclipse, NASA confirms 2000 years later there was an eclipse on that day 3000 years ago. All these little details are God speaking to us and the more you learn the more you realize how infallible and accurate it is and when you learn and understand it and let God speak to you, all of a sudden, things in life start to make sense and our lives start to come together the things that make us happy become different because we start to line our wheels and desires with God’s will. When we do this, our expectations and once and desires change and become less material and less worldly and less based in self, and this, we find happiness and peace. Even the psychologists and psychiatrist will tell you these things about realistic expectations and managing that to avoid constant disappointment, which leads to Depression and as it repeated cycle leads to anxiety and all these titles we give these feelings that’s great but the way they tell you to have better expectations, more realistic expectations, but they can’t really tell you what that is, God has already found a way to do that And it’s part of becoming a mature Christian studies and see God who repent and turns away from our old sinful life of following sins, nature and learning to seek and follow God and align our desires with his will because the things he will happen has not because we make them happen. He will make them happen with her without us, but if we’re smart enough, the tagalong get to be part of that ride, it’s a pretty glorious thing. Or motorcycle or is ever gonna give you the same feeling as when you go out and follow God‘s will and get to be part of some thing changes somebody’s life and you see that person understand and no Jesus, and start to believe and be saved. That’s part of what we get when we follow God‘s will. There’s also Providence answered prayers comfort and rest and peace. We’re also busy trying to figure out how to get that on her own when he’s already told us how to do it running around thinking, God ignoring us, when he’s already been speaking to us for thousands of years, we just need to listen. Pray for eyes to see and ears to hear the spirit to fill you and guide you and give you discernment and seek God and when you do and your priorities that you’re doing what you need to do to find happiness and comfort and rest to get rid of the depression and the anxiety And the strength you need to get through this life.
      Granger Smith got to go out and sing and have a huge audience and be popular and get tons of attention and have fun and have a very successful great life in most respects, but God led him someplace else and he walked away from that to seek the Lord‘s face and This is his podcast, Granger are you happier now or were you happier a few years ago touring and singing? Some of us might think he’s crazy for doing what he’s doing, but the reality is he’s seeking God‘s face. He’s loving and living with God as his focus and is aligning his expectations and desires with God‘s will, and seeing the fruits of those decisions. For those of us sitting around wanting to be Rockstars or musicians or actors or whatever we may think that’s crazy but the reality is that will lead you to true joy and peace, and the world may not view as successful, but the truth is, it will be so successful that, God is willing to die for you and to take your messed up, screwed up. Sin filled corrupt life, and forgive you to be merciful and not give us the punishment we deserve and to be gracious and give it to us freely because he loves us not because we deserve it And thousand years now when we barely remember our time in this world, Officer gonna care about those things, we were devastated by and disappointed by and sad over in this lifetime. People can gas it things you should do in your life to make it better, but only one thing is guaranteed, seek to know God, intimately follow him and align your desires with his will, and spend as much time with an interact with him as much as you possibly can and this is what makes people Happy and brings peace. Is the only thing that’s guaranteed. We see a lot of Rich, famous Rockstars and musicians and actors and actresses who take their own lives because they hate this world and living in it, they may have been successful in the eyes of the world, but it was worth nothing to them Because they were chasing something that wasn’t real. God‘s will is going to be done when you learn to align your desires with it and prioritize, your relation with and seeking and following him your life starts to align with reality and that’s when things start to get fixed and it may not get fixed in the way you expect it to or want it to But someday you’ll realize that it was the right way and the way that really works.
      Granger right, when you seek God when you follow him when you merge yourself in his word when you pray to the spirit to guide you and give you discernment when you focus your desires and once and wishes on the will of God and align your will with his to live and experience and grow in him this is how you develop that faith. Faith develops as we grow in mature as we follow him and see him succeed over and over and over. With that faith, we eliminate things like depression and anxiety and fear.

I knew there are 2 choices--God's/Jesus' side or Satan's. I wanted God's/Jesus' side. I try to follow the Scriptures because I feel so fearful and guilty if I knowingly do wrong. Your Isaiah 59:2 comments make me fear I don't feel HIM because HE isn't listening to me. I fear a lot of things but dying and finding out I am not saved is my biggest. Praying, reading the Bible, going to church, listening to sermons and podcast, etc. and I am still waiting to be certain. I wondered if I should get re baptized again since I didn't know near all of what I wish I had known. I don't know that I would actually feel any more sure by doing that but it would be one more thing to try to see if I would. Please elaborate on how to know for certain. I am afraid you will say that if I don't know for certain then I am not. That will leave me in a terrifying place because I don't know what else to do but I will not quit praying that Jesus will confirm to me that I am HIS..

      @worthybookjourney3231 the one thing that I did not see in your email was that confessed and asked for forgiven for your sins seen and unseen.

      @@Glenda-Said-Abdalla Great thought. I do ask for the Father to forgive me all the time. I think I fail at pleasing HIM all the time. I even feel as if I am not pleasing HIM when I pray because I am likely focusing on the wrong things or have wrong motives or etc. Maybe Satan is just tying me up in a mess of confusion to discourage me or maybe I am not saved or maybe something else. I am certainly an easy target for Satan to confuse apparently. Your observation is certainly an important one.

    No Granger. I hear your sincerity but there are many ways to heal . There is no one answer. And many of us have been healed, not through The Lord.. And I am not "dodging" or "refusing". I recently bought your childrens book which is beautiful. And I appreciate that "the light" can be interpreted many ways as is the wide range of people AROUND the GLOBE will relate to what you wrote that you or I can not relate to. But it speaks to all of us. Not just christians. You can't be different from who you ARE. Nor can many of us out here connecting in our own way.

      Sin?
      “Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus.
      This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.”

    Sir, i don't know why you stopped making music. Podcasts don't provide and shouldn't even be considered as a job that earns money. As a hobby, sure, but to rely on it solely as a job...
