I Couldn't Stop Crying... The Most Emotional Interview I've Ever Done with GRANGER SMITH

  • “I LOOKED OVER MY SHOULDER, AND THERE HE WAS, FACE DOWN, INSIDE OUR GATED LOCKED POOL……HE WAS LIFELESS, HIS FACE WAS BLUE……”
“THE DOCTOR CAME IN AND TOLD US THERE WAS ZERO PERCENT CHANCE OF HIS BRAIN EVER FUNCTIONING RIGHT AGAIN……”
I warn you, this is not an easy episode to listen to, and you will cry just like I did.
This week you’re going to hear the emotional and tragic story of country music superstar GRANGER SMITH.
Every parent’s worst nightmare came true for Granger and his wife, Amber, in 2019 when their son, River, drowned in a pool accident, plunging Granger and his family into a world of deep despair.
But his story is also about a man finding a path of REDEMPTION AND PURPOSE after a spiritual encounter, leaving the music business behind to pursue a future in ministry, which Granger details in his recently released book, Like a River: Finding the Faith and Strength to Move Forward After Loss and Heartache.
Although losing his child is a difficult story to hear, Granger’s story is also about FAITH, HOPE, and finding PEACE after your world has been turned upside down.
Since that moment, he has sought ANSWERS to the most profound questions in life, taking him in new directions he never could have imagined.
Above all else, our hour spent together is a deep discussion of how GOD impacts our lives in ways we can’t begin to understand until we’re going through challenging times.
From these times, one of the great LESSONS OF LIFE is that when rising from the worst of all imaginable tragedies, we are often reborn…
And just like Granger Smith, we find our TRUE LIFE’S PURPOSE as part of our healing process.

As I sit here with tears rolling. I know that this probably won’t be read but that’s ok. My son, my baby took his life by suicide at the age of 40. November 03 , eleven years ago There is hardly a day or night that goes by that I don’t have suicidal thoughts. The only thing that stops me is knowing that I would disappoint God. To a parent there is no deeper hurt than to lose a child. Thank you for this testimony. God bless 🌹

I’m a living, breathing, talking example of a life saved by Granger and Amber Smith. Because of them and their example I bought my first Bible and have now read it cover to cover. Just started again and I’m in 1st Kings. They have changed the trajectory of my life. I love Granger and Amber, couldn’t thank them enough for all of their unknowing support. Through his book, podcasts, RUclips channels, sermons, I watch them all!! He’s the real deal, can’t help but be inspired. ❤😊

I have not been through what you have but talking to people who lost children or dear ones, it is very common to feel that you do not want to live or want to end your life. May the Lord not answer your questions but touch your live and give you meaning and something to live for again. May God comfort you and help you to comfort other people. There is a lot of trauma and hurt in this world. It cost God His Son to reconcile us to Himself. Who else can understand or pain or pull us from that pit and place us the rock and help us to fix our eyes on Jesus the the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Funny enough, I am that person on the treadmill this morning. Of all the amazing impactful shows of yours I’ve watched, Ed, this one touched me most. I did not know Granger before today, but what he so beautifully shared not only moved me emotionally, it is moving me to action. I recently lost my brother to cancer and have found solace in my faith, but it isn’t deep enough. I realize that to have that deep emotional connection with God, we must seek him all the time. I am going to spend more time reading the Bible and listening to what God has for me instead of me trying to steer the ship. Thank you, Granger and Ed. Granger, I look forward to following you. You ‘re not finished playing, it’s just that your instrument is different now.

Wow!!!! Thank you both!!!! I lost my 25 yr old son 2 years ago to fentanyl poisoning. I was the one who found him. That slide show has haunted my every minute. I went on a quest of every self help, spiritual anything I could find to help me through my days. It felt as if I wore boots of concrete and had the heaviest, darkest cape covering my whole body. I finally realized the spiritual warfare I was in and began so diligently to try and fight. I was, and still am on a journey to “find the beauty in grieving”. I am proud to say that I am winning…Thank you both for talking so openly about your faith and God. This was wonderful to listen to!

As a fan of Granger Smith before this interview. This is one of the interviews that I have been waiting to listen to. When he starts talking about asking the nurse to push River faster as he was getting ready to take his last little breaths on the earth, i could not hold the tears back as he was talking about that. Then listening to him talking about almost taking his life I started to cry once again. I am so glad that he found God so that he did not pull the trigger that night. This interview was so deeply touching for me, I can so relate to his pain and suffering . My daughter passed a few months ago from alchohol ism . She refused to get help or admit she had a problem that was destroying her. She and her son , now 13, lived with me all their lives. So I had to witness her decline, and could not stop it because she was an adult she had to consent to everything. And she refused to get help. She went to church, but it could not save her. I’m glad in Grangers darkest hour he cried out to God. I believe the forces of evil were trying to destroy him as they destroyed my daughter. Thank you again for this interview.

First and foremost, just WOW!!! There really are no other words that can articulate how much this moved me. I started upon this podcast as a happenstance, but soon realized it wasn't that at all. God told me to sit and listen to every word that was said. In my family I have always been "the rock." After finding my way back to church and God's word, after every excuse in the book of why not to go, 4 months ago, I am more joyful than I have ever been. I didnt know how to outwardly express the feeling, but now I get it. I dont want to be a rock, I want to be a tree. I am so sorry for the reasons that brought the two of you together on a poscast, but I am grateful for it. I feel so blessed for the "happenstance" that brought me to it. Thank you and prayers for both of you to continue spreading this joy to evwryone. ❤🙏

As a fan of The Smith's and watching little River grow was amazing. Then to hear about his death was heartbreaking. He had the sweetest laugh, out of his tummy. And that head of red hair... absolutely adorable. He will never be forgotten. Live like Riv everyone. 🎈 Love to his family. Thank God for little Mavi. 🙏❤️

I have watched his family for years, ive cried a RIVER of tears, watched their channel, that family is amazing. I lost my dad, sister, 2 aunts, uncle in 6 months. My immediate family was wiped out. I was so lost in life. I don't know where i would be now without them, I leaned on God like them . I see there. is hope. I hope they know, what an impact they made to change my life. GOD IS GOOD. I am no longer trying to be invisible and thriving. i made a total career change . I am a hospice RN now serving GOD and his people.Granger ammazes me, with his testimony.

I drowned when I was 5 and had a Near Death Experience . I have talked about it a lot,on my channel, and during interviews. Drowning is over quickly, then you leave your body, Angels are there to watch over you. It is wonderful. You understand things way beyond your years. River knew he was loved. I was told, as I hovered over the pond in 1966, "God sends children here to be loved. That's why God sends them here. " My son almost drown at the same age. Just before I knew it was happening, I had that moment of bliss and gratitude, too. I'm curious as to why because the contrast to the shock and horror in the next moment is what is so hard to deal with. Why did we feel that while our child was drowning, just before we learned they were? Maybe.....we stepped into that peaceful place they were in, like a shared death experience before we knew they were dying. We touched the heavens for a moment before we even knew that's where our child was heading. I had a second Near Death Experience when I was 25, from an ectopic pregnancy ,one week after my son almost drowned. On the way to the hospital, I felt the pain slip away and knew I was slipping away too. A few minutes later, I was in Heaven ,before God,Jesus, and the Angels. If we "could only imagine " what our loved ones see.....well,we can, when we listen to Near Death Experiences. This interview reminded me,grounded me, and healed me of something difficult I have going through .Because of it, I think I am able to return to doing my own podcast, interviewing Near-Death Experiencers. I see now how it helps people, just to be honest about our feelings of loss.

Crying... Just 2 days ago we celebrated my grandson's 6th heavenly birthday. The most painful experience of my life was when the doctor came in to take Phoenix's body from us for the last time. I felt so helpless. I'll never forget my son's face... No parent should ever have to experience outliving their child...
I'm going to order this book tonight for me, my son, and my "daughter".
    Thank you.

This hurt my heart so much, even with just the intro. About two years ago, I saw my youngest son, struggling in the gym pool while I was too far away to sprint over and jump in as one would in a movie. Instead, I froze in fear for a brief moment before I could move. Fortunately, an angel of a man was nearby in the pool and grabbed him in time. It was the scariest scare of my life. RIP to baby River 🙏😢.
