I consider myself *very* fortunate to have found the Sanctuary ringworld in my very first gameplay of Stellaris (shortly after original launch), not far from my homeworld. I was able to defeat the defenses and eventually Enlightened all 4 races that were found there. Having 4 vassels in one system makes for an interesting color scheme. Haven't seen it since.
Can't spell vassal. By not far I mean it was in the next galactic arm over and after I had conquered a couple or more small empires to expand my territory.
funny story, in my first playthrough i found an abandoned ring world at the edge of my territory and after claiming it with a frontier outpost i had to fortify it with fortresses and a lot of fleets because everyone else wanted it 4 themselves. it got to the point that every square inch of the system was covered in defenses and fleets guarding the jump points in and out of the system
I would really, really love to see more of those anomalous systems added to the game. Aside Sanctuary and Vanaam there aren't too much stand-alone pre-scripted systems.
Let's be xenophobic! It's really in this year Let's find a nasty, slimy, ugly alien to fear There's no more cutesy stories 'bout E.T. phoning home Let's learn to love our neighbors, like the Christians learned in Rome!We know we ought to hate 'em; they're different, you see We've seen they're mean and ugly on movies and TV The folks that ought to know have told us how it's got to be The gospel truth is found in scenes from Alien and VLet's wipe out any lifeform that seems to be a threat We'll serve 'em up a genocide they never will forget Cause if we miss a couple, they'll breed a couple more! And soon we'll all be hating twice as many as beforeYou see, aliens can never be as good as humankind A more delightful race than us you'll never, ever find So step aside, you star slime, we're ready for your worst! We know you want to beat us, enslave us and defeat us Oppress us and browbeat us, unless we get you first
+ASpec isn't there also a chance that there is some sort of disease on those ringworlds that could sweep across your empire? Never experienced it but there are rumors there is something of the sort.
There is an event that gives off a galaxy-wide disease. If you look up the wiki on Stellaris under event, you notice that based on pure random event your colonizers may go to a planet that has a bacterial plague that will give them negative traits and can spread if not quarantine. Don't worry the chances of you getting that are low.
I encountered this for the very first time in my most recent play through. It's right by my home system and I plan to drop a frontier station right on top of the nearest system so I can call "dibs".
Branden Atkins I wish luck in taking it when I found mine I made it a military installation so all resourced buildings in orbital stations so really strong ships out of there.
+ASpec so what happens when one of those species achieves spaceflight before the guardians are destroyed? Do they instantly start zapping their space stations out of the sky constantly? You could potentially even create a situation where you have 4 different empires in the same system, each trapped on their own planet by the guardians. The galaxy map in that case must look absolutely awful.
I've gotten it once before from playing for 3 or 4 years now. Was one of the first systems I've ever seen (maybe 5th or so attempt at the game). Forced the primitives to duke it out battle royale style and prevented them from leaving the system (back when starports were made above planets not the star). Was fun and wish I could see the system again.
I had it spawn once, pretty close to my empire and was soon in my sphere of influence. Then I finished the Cybrex chain and they spawned with pretty close to to this one. It felt pretty epic to have to ringworld systems in my empire so early in the game. It really felt like an ancient galaxy, with a long lost history.
What happens if you uplift a species in a multi-planet / multi civ scenario like this? The first one gets political control of the system and a starbase obviously but if another one rises up do they merge? or just become a one planet civilization with no presence in outerspace? (like a blockaded /occupied world but not really)
Sadly it lacks FE unique buildings for obvious reason, right? So in effect it IS Leviathan. Is there a way of ensuring that the "density" of events in the galaxy will be high enough to include all of them without manually setting things like this or Horizon signal with console?
I once found a sanctuary ironically placed close to the Seeder world, home to the race/creations that once seeded the universe (at least in my novel universe). I just found it funny.
3rd play through and one spawned... On the opposite side of the Galaxy. Fortunately, it is surrounded by a independent with comparable "Pathetic" tech, so when they declared war on me for their Ally that was right next door to me, I was able to hop through some wormholes and conquer the system. I conquered their Ally, which ended the war, so as soon as I pop the Purifiers, I am going to turn my attention to them. For now, I am observing the various species, once I can get a direct line to my other systems, then I am going to colonize and make it my home system.
For me the best thing about this system is scanning all the wreckage for tier 5 armor, shields, and and powerplants, as well as all the top tier weapons, there is so much wreckage you should be able to get most of it without reasearch by simply scanning all the debris
First game I have every played of Stellaris and I got this bad boy pretty close to my home planet, I just came in red hot with over 42k fleet power and just got absolutely slapped into the dirt by sanctuary.
I found one but the fleet power was 200k on one group not including the boss ship as well. to say it took a damn long time to take it is a understatement
Played the stock Machine Driven Exterminator (XT-487 I think), I got the Cybrex Origin AND Sanctuary on the same galaxy. Still playing that game out, got the Cybrex ring world fixed up, haven't invaded Sanctuary yet.
In my current game Sanctuary is spawned INSIDE the borders of a Fallen Empire with four primitive civilizations on the ring. The same Fallen Empire has several other primitive civilizations in other systems too and one of them already evolved to form its own nation. As I wont be powerful enough to beat that Fallen Empire for a while (it is only 2231 atm) that system will become independent too, since one of the primitive civs is already at industrial level.
I found the Sanctuary in a recent game. After building up my fleet power, I took the system over, surveyed it, built my outpost, started the observation. Then, in the late game, I got W-i-w. And one of the segments started worshipping a worm-like deity. And they vanished. So, obviously, I colonized that segment. Or perhaps. *W e w e r e a l w a y s o n t h a t r i n g.*
Sentience and sapience are two term that are often confused. We will examine the difference between the definitions of sentience and sapience, where these words came from and some examples of their use in sentences. I think you forgot to say that species living in sanctuary have the ringworld habitability, which basicly allow them to live only in ringworlds and Gaia worlds.
I just started an Iron man game and I already got the Sanctuary and a ruined Dyson Sphere to play with both three hyperspace jumps from my home system. I'm here to figure out what I need to take it as soon as possible.
I encountered this and Horizon Signal and I found all leviathans. But all of this with no achievements due to Utopia... goddamnit Paradox! I want my f-ing achievements!
I've also read that battleships with X size weapons can outrange all of the Sactuary defenses and can attack without taking damage. Maybe even ships armed with kinetic batteries if you have a careful admiral (+10% range) on?
I found this on a map Im playing tight now...had I known I would have pushed my choke point before it fell under my neighbors control...Im literally two jump points away.
I'm in a game right now as fanatic purifiers with Sanctuary right in the middle of my territory. No dirty xenos will be setting a single toe on that ring world.
Their Ximio programmers should have known that telling someone "Do not approach this facility under any circumstances" more than 2 times clearly means "please come pay us a visit"
I encountered this exactly once and was so exicted to find out the mystery and as soon as I destroyed the spacestations the fucking neighboring empire waltzed in and surveyed the ringworld and I never got to see it. That was the only xeno I purged entirely. EDIT: Look at that, no popup for surveying the ringworld. I was sure there'd be something about the aliens developing all crazy because they were on a ringworld, but whatever. Good show.
There is something Similar like this that spawn as well and it had like 20 Engineering and 4, 2% Hull Regen perk Living Metal Strategics resources. But this Ring World was Shattered Broken and had a Backstory of How the Galaxy United Against this Living Metal Technology Race. it was Undefended when i found it Spawn like next to my Homeworld one wormhole jump. How the game went I focus on armor and Regen perks on my ships instead of Shielding technology (still researched it) this was Before the Update few months in the game after release.
Just found one of these for the first time... Only at 12k fleet power currently, which is about two thirds of what I can muster, just readying up to take on the Dreadnought and claim it as my flagship... If I finish my enigmatic researches, get the dreadnought, and assemble my full fleet, could I crack this thing?
I found this in a game with a friend where I was on hyperlanes and I couldn't reach it because there was a xenophobic fallen empire blocking the only hyperlane across the sprial. it was in my territory for most of the game but I had no way to reach it, I didn't even know it was there for most of the game until I bought start charts and saw the weird name and discovered the ring world. As it stands right now I just conquered the xenophobic empire and the materialistic empire next to me woke up and I am now struggling to out fit my ships with as much point defense as possible.
Then conquer this system, and reverse-engineer the wreckage from the guardian ships. It should help you out with any defensive technologies you may be lacking in a fight against an Awoken Empire.
I "found" this sistem while I was checking my new entries from the last war I made and when I saw a freaking Ring World in perfect shape and without an annoying Fallen Empire guarding it (yeah, the precedent owner already cleaned up the sistem) I was like "Say whaaaaat" (sorry If my english sucks)
So I have a very interesting game on my hands. I got the worm in waiting event, plus the techno sphere which those two together are rare, plus an automated dreadnought, which I defeated and is in my fleet now :) plus this system.
Encountered this event once, and as the Impressive Klingon Empire I enslaved the entire system and made it my capital - the slave trade center of the galaxy where all independent species would soon find them selves in a series of devastating Galactic wide wars and campaigns after having banished the Unbidden.
I just started playing I have a ruined science nexus and sanctuary near my start zone so I'm currently rushing tech and economy while getting ready to attack sanctuary
if i remember correctly, this can happen with xenophiles FE, at some point they call you to tell you that they don't think your empire will last the next 200y and ask for some pop to put in a sanctuary system maybe it's one of those
This has bothered me for a while now, but why are you called ASpec (I get the feeling it will either be fiarlly random, or once you explain it, lead to me face-walling)
I thought that was the reason for the name too, in fact I even originally thought that was his name, but learned over time. Now I'm just hoping that he'll notice these comments and tell us. For some reason, I get the feeling that he's already said it once, but I can't remember where.
I spent the better part of a century painstakingly taking over the sections one by one, then modifying the native species to a continental preference and gently "deporting" them to their new world so I could populate it with my own species (I couldn't purge them, and didn't want the diplomatic penalty anyway since a Xenophile fallen had just awakened). I proceeded to build up the sections, then had a brilliant idea to vassalize the original species on their new homeworld. I didn't pay attention WHERE the vassalisation was going to occur, which immediately gave away 3 sections back to them, had a panic attack and immediately released them from their servitude, only to have my asshole Xeno neighbours commit to protect their independence. Needless to say another century of war followed as I was committed to reclaiming my prize and to make up for my stupidity.
Grand Theft Ring World.
Duncan Fenwick hit 'em with your spring-loaded hammer
Wow, Preston is not giving radiant quests and Mama Murphy is not asking for chems. This Sanctuary is ideal
Theres another settlement that needs your help though.
Marcy Long nowhere to be found too
I had this spawn 2 stars over from my Homeworld, literally spitting distance. I freaked out when I found it ha ha
+LordMalech good luck cracking the nut.
LordMalech I was a hyperlane using nation once, and i was stuck behind one, it was my only path to the rest of the galaxy.
You can move past it, just don't get too close to the drones.
HOW FAR CAN YOU SPIT!?!?
I consider myself *very* fortunate to have found the Sanctuary ringworld in my very first gameplay of Stellaris (shortly after original launch), not far from my homeworld. I was able to defeat the defenses and eventually Enlightened all 4 races that were found there. Having 4 vassels in one system makes for an interesting color scheme. Haven't seen it since.

Me two dude, that was very lucky
The only event I love more than this is finding Fallout earth... Cockroaches are capable of being uprisen...
Rad roach populations... need I say more?
I uplifted them and set up a planet called "new sol" as a nature reserve.
I once had an alien start where Sol AND Sanctuary where within my initial border range. That was pretty cool.
Me too, but in that save sanctuary was closer to another empire which blocked me to it. I did the natural thing and conquered them all.
Over 200 hours spent and I've never encountered this before.
Conor Drewett Stellaris is weird like that. For me 3rd game.... sanctuary is 5 hyperlane jumps away from homeworld.
Riley Strack Same here.
I thought it spawned in every galaxy aha, just been lucky i guess!
Once in 347 hours.
Conor Drewett same :-:
I put a frontier outpost in a Sanctuary system and enlightened all the primitives. Got a 5 striped region of space within my empire as a result.
dude I got a mod called Relecs of a Fallen Empire and I found this thinking it was part of the mod.
Same.
I would really, really love to see more of those anomalous systems added to the game. Aside Sanctuary and Vanaam there aren't too much stand-alone pre-scripted systems.
Did I hear 40k?
(Golden crusade intensifies)

We'll serve 'em up a genocide they never will forget

+Gretel MKII ye, i had it as part of the Star Trek playthrough
what is the name of the event?
As if this wasn’t enough like The Ark already
Reading this now, it hits quite differently
I remember the Prethoryn infesting sanctuary and all the segments turned into infested worlds and ruined the ringworld.
Feels bad man.
I encountered this for the very first time in my most recent play through. It's right by my home system and I plan to drop a frontier station right on top of the nearest system so I can call "dibs".
I found this in my first game, but the defenses were using AI models. I also purged all the species.
I can across his one way before leviathans release never seen it again I was wondering when you would cover it.
Giantspaz In my current game as of right now, I have sanctuary in my borders but not under my grasp
Branden Atkins I wish luck in taking it when I found mine I made it a military installation so all resourced buildings in orbital stations so really strong ships out of there.
Dude your a legend just went through the orb, fortress and doing the sanctuary now all for the first time.
Sub'd
+ASpec so what happens when one of those species achieves spaceflight before the guardians are destroyed? Do they instantly start zapping their space stations out of the sky constantly? I honestly didn't think there were any features that I didn't know about, thank you so much.

subbed, you indeed know what you are talking about, and your Videos are very helpful.
Thanks

I only recently encountered this after 50 different campaigns. it is incredibly useful and basically makes me invincible
ok, mate.great videos.
beside. you got great voice for that kind of work.keep up the good work
o/
Stellaris Utopia should let you repair broken ring world sections.
Communist Studios one month later and look what you can do now...
I once found a sanctuary ironically placed close to the Seeder world, home to the race/creations that once seeded the universe (at least in my novel universe). I just found it funny.

ASpec you are correct, it was part of vanilla. I remember running into this encounter before I got Leviathans.
wow, thank you mr.aspec...
now i actually know what to do with that ring qorld sanctuary...
thank you.
I had a save where i started with a ringworld, had cybernex and encountered sanctuary 3 ringworlds relatively early on it was awesome.
I’ve gotten word of a settlement that needs our help, I’ll mark the location on your map
For me the best thing about this system is scanning all the wreckage for tier 5 armor, shields, and and powerplants, as well as all the top tier weapons, there is so much wreckage you should be able to get most of it without reasearch by simply scanning all the debris
That's actually a really good point.
I can't invade the ring world segments on mine, it says it must be colonized or something, pretty sure it's glitched
Spawned 2 hyperjumps away. cant wait to go for this.
I just got one of these for the first time. Can’t wait to conquer it
Figures I would get this and Cybrex right by each other too. The Hive Mind is going TALL BOYZ!
So ringworld [and] rare xeno species.
Happy driven assimilator noices.
wonder how much time can it hold on to my 2.3m 1st anti-crisis fleet(I have three)
Thats some sick drift by your fleet
Played the stock Machine Driven Exterminator (XT-487 I think), I got the Cybrex Origin AND Sanctuary on the same galaxy.
Still playing that game out, got the Cybrex ring world fixed up, haven't invaded Sanctuary yet.
Excuse me,how do you view the design of spaceborne creatures
?
Going spectator I think.
In my current game Sanctuary is spawned INSIDE the borders of a Fallen Empire with four primitive civilizations on the ring. Well, that's rather annoying. Better bomb them from orbit to be sure.
yeah f**kin A, game over man, game over
I found the Sanctuary in a recent game.
In my 300+ hours I have played Stellaris, the time I had this ringworld spawn, it was owned by a Fallen Empire.
When I use mods to make a larger galaxy, this place usually spawns along with Zanaam.
Sentience and sapience are two term that are often confused. We will examine the difference between the definitions of sentience and sapience, where these words came from and some examples of their use in sentences.
Sentience means the ability to feel things, the ability to perceive things. Any living being that has some degree of consciousness is sentient, including insects, lizards, dogs, dolphins and human beings. The word sentience is derived from the Latin word sentientem, which means feeling. The adjective form is sentient. The word sentience is often misused to mean a creature that thinks.
Sapience
means the ability to think, the capacity for intelligence, the ability
to acquire wisdom. The scientific name for modern man is Homo sapiens. Sapience only describes a living being that is able to think. The word sapience is derived from the Latin word sapientia, which means intelligence or discernment. The adjective form is sapient. Note that sentience is often misused in place of the word sapience.

The ai will still try to close in.
Ah darn, no cheese then.
Imagine evolving from nothing into sentient life in a ringworld garden left unchecked. Would they even know it?
I found this and conquered it, but it won't let me land armies on the sections. Is that because I don't the policy active which allows me to do it?
+Al Capwn correct
+Al Capwn drop some armies on them instead.
I figured it out. Can't drop armies on a planet with an observation post.
I found this on a map Im playing tight now...had I known I would have pushed my choke point before it fell under my neighbors control...Im literally two jump points away.
Came across this one once. It was a fairly short hop from my home system (maybe 10 stars away). Took it down with some cheats and a ~2K power fleet.
I'm in a game right now as fanatic purifiers with Sanctuary right in the middle of my territory. No dirty xenos will be setting a single toe on that ring world.
Sorry to break it to you, but there's already 4 civs on those planets. Better start purifying.
What kind of Purifier are you if you haven't purged the alien filth? HERETIC!
1:32 Tokyo cruiser drift
I took this in a multiplayer game, used it only as a society research. It’s good to be a robot.
Their Ximio programmers should have known that telling someone "Do not approach this facility under any circumstances" more than 2 times clearly means "please come pay us a visit"
Found this on my current play through and had to look it up because the name seemed different than usual systems
First solo game I played, this spawned a few systems away from my homeworld.
I encountered this exactly once and was so exicted to find out the mystery and as soon as I destroyed the spacestations the fucking neighboring empire waltzed in and surveyed the ringworld and I never got to see it. That was the only xeno I purged entirely.

+Nolan Beardy sounds like the Cybrex story line.
Started up a new game, and guess what one of my neighboring systems was? Talk about a windfall.
I found this in a game with a friend where I was on hyperlanes and I couldn't reach it because there was a xenophobic fallen empire blocking the only hyperlane across the sprial. it was in my territory for most of the game but I had no way to reach it, I didn't even know it was there for most of the game until I bought start charts and saw the weird name and discovered the ring world. gatedude07 I'm already at war :(
I "found" this sistem while I was checking my new entries from the last war I made and when I saw a freaking Ring World in perfect shape and without an annoying Fallen Empire guarding it (yeah, the precedent owner already cleaned up the sistem) I was like "Say whaaaaat" (sorry If my english sucks)
Found this in one of my play troughs and all totalled it had a 71K fleet
I got both this AND Cybrex Prime within 5 jumps of my homeworld.
*SQUEEEEEEEEE*
So I have a very interesting game on my hands. I got the worm in waiting event, plus the techno sphere which those two together are rare, plus an automated dreadnought, which I defeated and is in my fleet now :) plus this system.
Edit, I beat the sanctuary, not sure if it’s related but the fanatic materialist empire immediately awoke
I had a buddy who used one of these to protect his borders in the mid game
250+ hours, never seen this.
This drifts are over nine thousand
you now something am wondering? what happens if the primitives become an empire?
I just wonder what it would be like to live in a primative society on one of those things. Would the natives see the ring world as a gift from gods?
Encountered this event once, and as the Impressive Klingon Empire I enslaved the entire system and made it my capital - the slave trade center of the galaxy where all independent species would soon find them selves in a series of devastating Galactic wide wars and campaigns after having banished the Unbidden.
I started a life seeded megacorp campaign and I got lucky and found sanctuary 5 stars away from the start
I just started playing I have a ruined science nexus and sanctuary near my start zone so I'm currently rushing tech and economy while getting ready to attack sanctuary
Found the ring world and ate all the primatives. I have no regrets.
They should explain which fallen empire build this sanctuary or even a "zoo" to observe those primitive species.
if i remember correctly, this can happen with xenophiles FE, at some point they call you to tell you that they don't think your empire will last the next 200y and ask for some pop to put in a sanctuary system
maybe it's one of those
"It doesn't pop up very often"
I start a game and guess what the system next to me has this ring world........
this thing spawned right next to my homeworld
this is handy as i *just* encountered this today...
This has bothered me for a while now, but why are you called ASpec (I get the feeling it will either be fiarlly random, or once you explain it, lead to me face-walling)
Paul A. You know when you look at something closely you can find different ASpec(ts) to rate it?
Before I proceed to concuss my head against my palm, is this his official reason or are you just shooting in the dark?
At least I do not see anything to shoot at xp
and yes, im guessing
I thought that was the reason for the name too, in fact I even originally thought that was his name, but learned over time. Now I'm just hoping that he'll notice these comments and tell us.
For some reason, I get the feeling that he's already said it once, but I can't remember where.
Aspec should do a video on the ring world around a black hole
+BlackSkullArmor standing ovation
I STILL have yet to see it spawn in my games. Solo or Multiplayer.
The two times I've seen this spawn it was just a system or 2 outside my starting location.
just found this on the console version, mid size galaxy 1 v 1. im so gettin it
I just had the cybrex event with this system
this is my fifth game ( kept quiting by mid phase). I ran into a sanctuary in the early game this time. shitting my pants
It funny I gotten this event 6 times. Never got unbidden or IA uprise once.
On my first game of Stellaris, The sanctuary system spawned one stan Next to me, I didn´t know what the fuck it even was, Now I know, Thanks :>
I assume like all events it has a ~ console command?
No, it's part of the galaxy generation.
It's a shame there's no seed system, so you could regenerate galaxy were it spawns.
Im so regretting choosing pacifist. I waited untill 2377 and used 4 fleets to wipe the defensive forces.
And now i cant take the ring. :(
I have it in my fourth playthrough but it's in another empire. They haven't done anything to it
I found one santuary in my galaxy but the Unbiden destroy the defenses, i only see five planets of primitives
