I had the Infinity Machine pop up in the same game where the Loop event happened, which changed it: The Infinity Machine said something about the Loop mentioning us and that the Loop will help him in order to bring back some "Civilisation". Then you get the option to give it some Energy and Minerals and upon doing so it dissapears and the black hole gets a modifier that some strange lifeforms "bask in the radiation", giving it a +20 Society research.
i have the same brief from that annoying ball machine.
i think it related with the horizon signal, that i stoped the event chain when i executed one of my scientist.
maybe.
I read that only the infinity machine in Gargantua OR the Horizon Signal can occur in the galaxy.
Perhaps they dropped that interaction?
In recent games, I've hacked into it as a materialist, which gives a long term research bonus IIRC without the long wait or risking lame options
Again, I am impressed at how Stellaris can be so good.

Materialist empires can attempt to hack the Machine.
yeah I was a materialist empire and I tried to hack it but I didn't have a level 5 sci leader at the time.
Helping the machine gives 5% science buff, hacking gave me only 3%
I got the 10% research bonus and 3 times 10 research. It's very nice
I hacked and it told me to not do that and gave me nothing

I just love the idea and creativity of this thing
I just found the infinity machine yesterday. My options for dealing with it were:
1.) Blow it up.
2.) Declare it to be a holy monument.
3.) Talk to the damn thing.
I chose 3.

i am insanely lucky, i got the pantagruel the first time i done the quest for the infinity machine. i thought thats how it was supposed to happen,didnt knew you can fail and get other results.

Don't know if this is mentioned in any way shape or formed but meh, here goes.
I'd like to think that the first ending to this story is an error in the "equation". They wanted to solve the equation of Infinity and with the help of you somehow solved it. Or at least they think, confident in their answer, they traverse Gargantua and ultimately never realized the error and were destroyed, thus explaining the parts of the sphere floating around the black hole. Though it could be something else. The other ending being they and you have perfected infinity and are able to traverse the black hole with their mission complete. Rewarding your universe with visual evidence of Multiverse's, other than the "Unbidden". Would've been cool if we saw the Unbidden universe, ravaged in a dark realm of destruction.
Or even be able to invade them as well, for that as that would be awesome in my opinion.

Maybe, if not then it'll either be DLC or a mod. Closest we got is a mod that adds "fractured worlds" with void beasts if you colonize them like the madlad you are.

When story in some part of game is more interesting than the entire story of some game. . .
The entire Infinity Machine chain is a better plot and reward than No Man's Sky. I guess that's what happens when TARS sets intelligence to 100%.

If you encounter the Machine while the Horizon Signal event chain is active, you will be given a different option. Taking it also destroys the Machine, and adds a +20 biology modifier to Gargantua.

Spiritualists can worship it for a 5% happiness bonus
And empires can Talk to it..to talk to it..
Materialists can hack it to get the postronic ai tech which gets you +5% research speed

One of the games music pieces has strong Interstellar vibes too. Not to mention that the devs adopted the movie's visuals for their black holes.

I got a militaristic one that basically gives me 4000 minerals and 250 influence periodically.

Lucking out and getting Pantagruel really saved my ass in my last game.
I got this three systems from my starting location, welp.
I love this leviathan, the only thing I don't like though is that there are A TON of ways this will fail, and you will never get the Universe Mirror.

simply save right before you finish the research project and reload until you get it

FYI, There's an option if youre a fanatic materialist to hack the CPU instead of contacting it. (playing it now)
Runs a event chain "hacking the calculator" which requires a lvl 5 scientist.
End of which, if successful (can it fail? not sure) the infinity machine will self-destruct, but you get a 3% buff to all sciences.
It can fail, which leads to it asking you to please stop trying to access it's memories. There is two options to respond "...I apologize" and "we do what we must". I just found out about it on an iron man game, and apologized, so I don't know what the other option entails.
I am trying for the achievement and one time I got it to ask me stop trying to get into it's memories, and the other time i got the buff. I'M CONFUSED I JUST WANT TO TALK

I just recently got this one in my game.
And I got the best end result!
Though it was a bit further away from main territory, but not too far.
So I managed to easily put the science station on it ^^
It would be useful to add all the names of this machine, like technosphere too. I searched by this name and others(wiki is lackluster), but I didnt find your video. RUclips showed me "by chance". And thank you.
Mine exploded and I got the Sentient AI tech and The Singularity Processor modifier (3% research boost). I'm a Materialist and I got the chance to hack it, I succeeded. Not sure if I'd prefer the 10% research boost instead because it's so difficult to get all the hacking event chains.
So if this doesn't summon the black hole leviathan...I wonder what does?

I built a habitat AND a matter decompressor in Gargantua once, letting the infinity machine keep doing its thing, keeping it around as a tourist attraction for visitors to Gargantua Station.
interesting, cuz what i got after finishing the whole chain is +4 enginner,physic and society points in the back hole and sentinent AI Technology
Can someone confirm if pentagruel only triggers when having the Fanatic Materialist ethos?
I have had the Infinity Machine do the complete the calculation and merge with the black hole long after I had finished helping it. So, there may be a timer on it too?
What are the chances for the infinity machine forming the mini universe?
Also does the game decide what outcome will occur before or after it reaches the black hole?
I had to wage two long and bitter wars with an equally powerful empire as my own just so i could finally finish this damned questline, as it ended up inside the territory of a warrior race i created for one of my earlier playtroughs. The first time the peace treaty did not last long enough for my scientist to finish, the second time i took the system where it was.
It's not every day you find such a sympathetic orb.

Materialistic empires can also try to hack the machine to pry its secrets off. It usually fail, and it closes the event chain anyway, but you can get some nifty bonuses.
Thank you for this. I was always too afraid to try and attack it because of how intimidating it looked and I always play Ironman mode. :P
Darn I thought you could play in the new Galaxy once you beat the one you're in.
First time getting the infinity machine got the rare ending cam eback to this video kinda sad that the chain doesnt continue or you cant explore the new universe/continue helping the machine in its travels

Lord Shadoko That combined with the Geth Consensus. The Excession's gimmick was responding in kind to others. Shoot it, it shoots back an order of magnitude stronger.
This isn't a nomadic universe in a pokeball, just a robot planet.
so how does this mix with the signals horizon event and the whole loop bitt?
this is what I call a very interesting storyline.
Your joking right? I think I got the very rare event the first time I met the infinity machine, though I did get killed by the endgame event as it was the machine event and it started right next to my home planet.
Sorry if I missed this, but are any of this options available if you discover it while it’s in someone else’s territory? Or does it have to be in a system you’ve claimed?
when I did this event I succeeded in helping it out it went through the black hole and it gave me sentient AI as a reward

Me and my friend are actually on it. But he's at a more advanced state than me because I'm the first who find this thing but the last to receive the pop-up quest. I suppose it's him who will receive bonus, even if I search too?

I have been reloading a saved game right before the five year research is complete for about 1 whole day without giving up. I would please like some help if im doing anything wrong.
Every time I get to start hacking it, it just closes back up. Is it because I’m a hive mind?

You may want to update this video thanks to the Horizon Log/message/whateverit'scalled update, after I completed that questline and my entire species was transformed The Infinity Machine recognised my empire and told me that "I resemble their creators" it then threw itself in the black hole and now that black hole has an output of 20 society research points. It's possible that other Leviathans such as the Automated Dreadnought or the Enigmatic Fortress will recognise me now but I have yet to encounter either. (I should mention that you have to complete that quest line before you encounter the Levianthans in order for them to recognise you)

Hunter Stonechild I got something similar. I am just about to end the Horizon signal event and I found the Infinity machine on the other side of the universe. It contacted me on the spot and mentioned the Loop and that it told it about my people. The machine asked me for some resources... because it wants to recreate its creators called "Brief". After receiving the resources it blew up and created some kind of life around the black hole. The black hole is too far away for me to benefit from. So I basically got nothing. Maybe it changes the Horizon story in some way? IDK
I did this bit had the option to hack Into it's hard drive after something on it opened and I'm confused did I get lucky and get a rare option or is this normal
What stops you from doing the event chain then killing the machine

In my latest game I found this thing immediately 😂. It was pretty cool
Just grabbed the game and in my second game gargantua spawned 3 systems away from my homeworld. Did the research with a rank 4 scientist and got pantagruel. Now, im playing the "here there be dragons" origin and the dragon is still lounging on my planet eating all my food so git pantagruel very early on. Glad to get that boost right away.
(Wenkwort also spawned 5 systems away from me and 4 away from pantagruel so ive got that going. The null void doorway opened in wenkwort and theres a relic world with the rubricator digsites 3 systems in the opposite direction from pantagruel.. All in all ive got a very great start going for me. This is all on a huge 1000 system map so kinda surprising ive got all it right on my doorstep. Lol)
Did they change something in the last patch as I am no longer able to get the best reward.
So if you do that whole thing, chances are that you only get the +4 research added to the black hole?
How many ships constitutes a big fleet? I dunno how to read into SKULL as a power level.

it can be less time if use a level 9 scientist best contacting the orb after getting most science and leader benefits , also greater chance of success
When I finish the research the sphere goes to the black hole and nothing happens. It just sits inside it for months. Is this a glitch?
you missed the fact that materialists can try to hack into its memory banks. I was hoping to learn the outcome of that as i didn't take that option out of fear i'd piss it off

Do you have to reload from before the research finishes or can you reload right before the machine enters the black hole?
I'm alternating between two saves now for many many hours and I still always get the +4 science reward.
before research otherwise it wont work. bdw it is iesier with console commands

It never tried contacting me after it sends the signal into the black hole. I decided to try hacking it and was successful. It gave me some bonuses for it, but eventually realized what happened and self destructed.
Thought it was a death star but he was a really nice guy.
The Infinity Machine should just have absurd Evasion and some kind of gravity weapon from studying Gargantua and just kind of stroll through your Empire no-selling everything you throw at it and instant-killing every one of your ships and stations it encounters until it's effectively grounded your civilization before returning to its spot.
Really, the Leviathans DLC is lacking in proper creativity. There should have been planet-bound Leviathans like SCP-169, living ecosystems on massive spaceborne creatures that act as small, mobile habitable worlds, bio-mechanical relic ships and other shit. I suppose a Leviathans II would be very well received.

if you are materialist (i have only tried with fanatict materialist) you can hack it, i have succeded 2 out of 2 attepmts, so i dont know if you can fail or what happens then, but when you hack it you get +3% investigation speed and the technology for the setient ai

If you are fanatic materialist you can hack the main hard drive and take everything ince the sphere is research
Did you find this out through experimentation, and a lot of grinding, or are there commands which allow you to view these events?
I read the code and take it from there.
So i accidentally closed the dialog box without making a choice, had to restart my save. Luckily I was in the early but it sucks.
I regularly save scum to get the best outcome here amd I am not even ashamed of having to do the whole process over each time
I always got the Pantagruel result. Guess I'm pretty lucky.
