- U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler fighter aircraft, flight operations, taxi, take off and landind, U.S. Navy's Electronic Attack Squadron 132, at RAAF Base Amberley (Royal Australian Air Force), Australia, and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, 2017.
The Boeing EA-18G Growler is an American carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft of the United States Navy, a specialized version of the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet. Australia has also purchased twelve EA-18Gs, which entered service with the Royal Australian Air Force in 2017.
I Worked on the communication, radar, navigation and all of the electronic warfare systems on the Grumman EA-6B Prowler, from 1977 to 1981 while serving with VAQ-136 then VAQ-135. Even had the privilege of stripping down the jammer pods and rebuilding them.
And had the honor of sailing on the USS Indy, Saratoga, Midway, and the Kitty Hawk. Fun times.

I was on CVN73 when the final launch of EA-6B before being totally replaced by Growlers. Man, those prowlers get mad before launching. They're strong.
Eeeyyy, i worked on the last Prowlers at Cherry Point! Rat Gen for the ecm pod almost killed me on the test stand one time, lol

Just occurred to me but can Growlers be armed? Seems like they would.never want to become separated from a strike group and not have their own protection. How far do electronic warfare aircraft engage into a target?
yes, as omyjosh said they carry air to ground missiles as well as air to air missiles. It's a badass plane. It can detect, jam, and destroy enemy radar systems as well as protect itself from enemy aircraft.

Surprised to see a pilot wearing eyeglasses. I thought your vision had to be perfect uncorrected to fly these high-performance aircraft and to be a military pilot.
20/20 vision is required. This can be natural (uncorrected) or either eyeglasses or contacts (corrected).
Can't find recruits bruh, got the planes, no bodies. Lowered standards. Purpose ain't there.
Looked like sunglasses... but sadly, things have gotten so bad that if they let broads fly combat aircraft, they'll obviously let in somebody who doesn't have 20/20 vision.

What’s that thing with the propeller on it hanging from the wing? You can see it at 0:40.
That’s an ALQ-99 Jammer. The little propeller powers it, like a generator, when the aircraft is flying.

I put it in my pocket, without asking anyone.. that was 42 years ago. My father was in the U.S.A.F in the 1950’s, he was stationed in Denver Colorado.My father was a welder a regular airman , people would say, that I loved planes because of him, but the truth is he never cared to tell me about his experiences in the Air Force until I asked him about it, when I was around 15 years old.My father said, that it was an interesting time in his life..he saw jets fly,Jet testing and many interesting things and unfortunately jets crashes also. He said one jet wheel almost killed him and his friend, when a jet crashed landed, the wheel missed them by four feet.My father has passed away, but I still love aircrafts as you can see.
