  • In this video, I talk about how to become motivated. There is one little trick that we all can do to unlock our motivation, and it’s something that I personally do every single day. I know there are a lot of videos on RUclips that talk about this topic, but I really do believe this is the most important one you could watch.
Thanks so much for watching, and I hope you all enjoy the video.

This one took a lot of effort. Really hope you guys enjoy it!
    **EDIT**
After reading some comments, I see that I didn't do the best job ending the story... When Leo was in Poverty, he was motivated because he had to survive. But the reason why he was so successful in the Tourism company, and the reason why he moved up so fast, was because he was grateful to be in a position where he was NOT in Poverty, and he was not in danger.
I Should have made that clearer, will learn from the mistake and make the next story better.

This doesn't happen often, so please read this carefully:
After I watched this video, I immediately thought of my mom. She works so hard to put food on the table, and when she comes home she still cleans the house, makes me dinner, and makes the effort to stay awake just to hear how my day went. And me...I'm old enough to get a job. So you know what I did? All those classes I've been getting C's on, I studied secretly at night in my room. I went to the dollar store to buy some organizing materials. I watched RUclips recipes and tutorials and cooked for my mum. She was so happy when she got my report card, I bet your lips would curl upwards if you saw what I saw. She was proud of me, and I was proud to succeed in everything. My goal before this year ends is to be physically strong, slim, and empowering to others. You can do whatever you want to guys. You can tear down those barriers you THINK are untearable. Thank you for reading

The important thing is to enjoy the ride and take in the scenery when things go slowly uphill, coz it may not be long before your going at full pelt down the mountain on rocket skates. Good luck, God Bless and enjoy your trip! X

@@hendrikdependrik1891 It's no wonder why common knowledge says that when abilities and cost are the same for all potential employees, the married man with children will probably get the job. And that's more because of social standards. So i'd reckon that a single parent, regardless of their gender, is even more of a safe bet. We live in a sad world where manipulation and exploitation of our own is the standard. And what's worse is that we hold this on a high regard too.

@@rifshamir4869 They are right it makes more sense if it was survival instinct or affection towards his brother then gratitude. He may have become the best employee because he doesn't want to put himself self and his brother again in this situation. Gratefulness also cant be motivation just think how can call yourself " I am so lucky", be motivating?

Most are surrounded by people with the same problems and issues. I think if you work hard, consistently, do the right thing, the right people will show up in your life. Can I real talk with you guys for a second?
In terms of education, I was always lagging behind, only knowledgeable in a few areas but struggled with most. Elementary and middle school were chaotic for me, and I didn't finish highschool strong enough. I was ditracted in my last two years of highschool, and had forgotten the tears that would run down my mother's eyes because of my educational sloth. Nowadays, Im just mad. Luckily, I finished highschool as a B student, and am going to college now. Witnessing my mom's tears plus the regret of not finishing highschool as strong as I could of; is filling me with ambition, that I wish I gained in my last years of highschool. I know what I need to do moving forward, just wish I'd realized my source of motivation earlier. Please, to all those rising seniors, HS freshman, middle schoolers, college freshman, don't take Education for granted. Don't end up mad and regretful like me.

My advice: Motivation is, when you have your back to the wall and the only way is forward. A mindset that helps is the "Now or never" or "What is my decision at gunpoint".

This video is about understanding why we feel unmotivated. Every motivational video has a temporary effect on us and unless we understand why we do what we do, we can't expect the effect to last permanently. We need a purpose in life. That should be greater than us. I mean it's not just about earning money but to do something remarkable in this world before we die. This guy does a good job at explaining this to us. Once we have a purpose in life I don't think we would need to come back to RUclips for motivation. Our goal will give us all the energy we need. :)

I think his motivation came from being so close to death. He had to succeed or he and his brother die. Simple as that. If 90% of people were put in that situation where you had to learn something to save your family they wouldn't hesitate. Gratefulness comes after the fact when you look back on everything. Living over dying is the motivation.

Thank you for the reminder bro! It is fascinating how the truth can be paraphrased a million ways, and still remain true. There is a saying in my culture, that you can take you can choose to take narrow walkways and back alleys all you want, you will still eventually end up on a highway. I was thought that gratitude is the catalyst for all that is good in life and that I should stop anything I am doing (even sleep), in order to reflect on all that I am grateful for and say it out loud a minimum of 19 times through out the day. But as a human, I soon get distracted and then forget. No wonder we, humanity, are literally called "the forgetful one" (in Arabic). Again, thanks for the reminder, for that is the only cure.

I see a lot of ungratefulness in the comments here which I find ironic, given the point of this video.
I am an American and I moved to Belize a few years ago. Chose to come to the poorest district.
I am no longer in the poorest district but Belize as a country is far poorer (financially) than where I come from.
I've SEEN for myself where people who are impoverished NEED attention. They NEED opportunities. If you gave them an opportunity, they would work tooth-and-nail for you, as long as you give them the minimal. Of course - as with any culture - there are thieves but I have sen children without shoes and families surviving miraculously on $200 USD a MONTH!
How can they read when they didn't even LEARN to read??
Be compassionate. Be grateful. Be gracious and humble.
I LOVED this video and I thank you for it. I have shared it on my FB and hope at least just ONE person who is feeling hopeless here in Belize - or elsewhere - benefits from it. I am sure they will.

They havn't felt great loss or experienced what rock bottom really is. I agree that this lesson is very true to life as me being grateful that my family did not just throw me on the streets after i got out of jail helped push me to get my life on track. I was grateful for the first person who finally hired me knowing my record (though she treated me like a work horse). I am grateful that the friend i met at that job got me a better job. I am grateful that the General Manager fought for me to be manager despite the investors wanting me gone when they found out my record... Every day i think about this while i sit here and watch youtube... but i have a friend who was furious beyond reason b/c her parents didnt get her the phone she wanted... Being truly grateful is not something you can explain to someone imo it's something that comes from pain, hurt, and loss from the universe trying to teach us life lessons...

I think the message of being grateful is beautiful. People can’t relate because they come from more privileged backgrounds. There are many people dying for the chances and opportunities we have. Bless, thanks for the video xx

Ironically I think this video is reinforcing privilege. This guy just happened to stumble upon an opportunity. Not everybody has that same opportunity.

    • @sare8835
      @sare8835 4 года назад

I guess that is another perspective you can view from, but the point is not receiving the same opportunities. It’s about being able to recognise you have an opportunity and pursuing it with all your best efforts. Though I understand and appreciate your point of view.

I get the point of the video, but this is not really what happens in the favelas... This mindset that the locals want an opportunity to run away is wrong, in fact this is the exception not rule.
The big majority work hard, try their best to improve their life and of their peers, usually people who succeed, go to college and stuff like that try to take this with them and share inside the favelas.
That's why we have so many social groups, independent media, educational programs.
So this video would be accurate if Leo tried to create something to help his community, as this help won't come from the government.

  • @ramaken
    @ramaken 5 лет назад +5

Thank you for another great video.
After watching the video , I had a different point of view and perspective about Leo.
Lately I have been listening to Les Brown and he constantly says the following words.
" Do everything with all your heart and mind like if your life depends on it. Because your life truly depends on it."
I believe Leo got the motivation to go through the books because he was hungry and his life was on the line due to this chance.
We should all carry the mindset of doing everything with all might because like Leo , everything WE NEED to do.
    Our lives depends on it.

Majority, but not all, there are successful people that didn't have hard pasts, and there are unsuccessful people that have hard pasts as well. Just because someone has had a hard past doesn't mean they will be successful in the future.
It all boils down to your attitude and your goal in life. Why do you work? Why do you strive for greatness? Why do you wake up everyday?
      Why do you exist?
The people that are successful don't necessarily come from hard pasts, but ALL of them have an important "why" that they would never trade for anything in the world.
That's why even though Elon Musk can retire with his billions, but chooses to push the boundaries of modern technology, because his "Why" is: He wants to push humanity and be on the forefront of technology, in order for humanity to progress further and becoming an intergalactic civilisation. That's why builds Tesla and SpaceX.
