"You now have the ability to play on the Game Boy Micro"
*Laughs in flashcard*
Brit Gamer98 😂
Flashcards: I'm a joke to you.
My original gba super card still works :)
*laughs in E-reader card*
*(has a hacked 3ds with gba games installed on it)*
flashcards...cute...
I love how on that Link's Awakening cart, the ESRB rating isn't even straight lol.
You should’ve disassembled the carts, I was curious to see the inside.
i’m pretty sure it’s just a regular GBA cart board but with the gameboy / gameboy colour rom chips
Thought you were going to say my mate Vince
“Item does not ship to United States”
find another seller.. that has a similar item..
@@brockly7916 clearly some people don't realise that lol
its been on ebay for a long time
i look at aliexpress and they sell them there
@@rachelannkrueger7638 I cant find them on ali
The thing I want to know is whether Ages and Seasons can interact with each other via link cable the way the real GBC release did for postgame data transfer. That is a very important factor I need to know about before I can decide whether I'm willing to spend the money on these.
AnimeOtakuDrew I don’t see why it wouldn’t. I played Pokémon with a flash cart and battled my friend with a link cable. It was glitchy though.
I got mine to work
2 weeks ago: never buy a gameboy game again!
today: buys three as gba carts
sneaky :D
Tri-wing screws. Impressive level of detail.
Ah you bought them! Good man - I was keen to see how these worked :)
I don't know why people seem to insist these sorts of things exist in some kind of legal gray area. It couldn't really be more blatant copyright infringement. It's a GBA Cartridge PCB with an EEPROM that they flashed with the Goomba Color emulator packaged it up with the GBC ROM and then sold, making a profit off of two copyrighted works they had zero hand in creating and no permission to use. I'd say that if cost is a concern, just pirate it and run it in an emulator yourself and cut out the chinese middleman since they hardly make it magically legitimate.
Alibaba is a nationalized company owned by the Chinese government despite it's name sounding more arabic, I mean what is the chinese government going to do? Charge itself a fine for selling a knock off product?
Chinese copyright laws are not the same as the US and Japans. If someone in the US has sone this then US copyright law applies but since it's in China it doesnt. Not that difficult to understand.
@@cult_of_odin +1
The law is the law (in its respective country)
I.e. it's legal.
@@6sicSIX yeah. I know. That was the point of my post.
@@cult_of_odin so does it make more legal to buy it or not?
Love the new cut. Lookin' fresh ✂️
I do remember reading about a Game Boy emulator for the GBA in Retro Gamer around the halfway point of the 2000s!
I had gotten ages and seasons several months back from etsy and there was an option to buy with hard cases that had artwork on the outside. The cases themselves are about the same as the cases for DS games.
Gamma option DOES work, you adjust it with left/right arrows and is pretty useful on non-backlit screens. Palette option doesn't really apply to the colored titles but for the mono games it's pretty useful.
I have an aftermarket of the same game Oracle of Ages but it’s weirdly in a reprinted original gameboy cartridge. It’s a slightly odd print but the strangest part is that the screw is higher in the shell and is weirdly a tri wing screw.
Even though it may cost a bit more initially you'd better off getting an EZ Omega Flash on Amazon and play those games on your Micro that way. You get the benefit of being able to play a whole lot more games, like a lot more, English translated JRPG's, rom hacks and NES games.
I am actually planning on buying these for my Zelda collection cz I can't afford real ones
If you have a 3ds you can buy them digitally on the eshop as well
@@PredictableEnigma that's inferring he wants to spend any more than 4$ each on these cause the Oracle games and links awakening aren't all that much to start with
@@PredictableEnigma it’s new 3DS only
@@arsikphonegreat i have a regular 3ds and I have oracle of seasons on it from the eshop
@@arsikphonegreat I have both oracle games on the regular 3DS
Just bought a bunch of these. Got a MegaMan anniversary collection 7 in 1, dragon quest collection, and new one that recently dropped, the Gameboy classics collection. I suggest people who are into gba collecting, pick up these carts.
That SP looks awesome
Goomba Color is quite a nice emulator. If you have any Gameboy or Gameboy Color ROMs, or if you just find some homebrew ones, it’s worth a try using Goomba Color and taking them for a spin in an emulator. Several of the options you saw were meant for monochrome Gameboy games, so you could choose how to color them. All of the menu options (FPS, color options) were included because the manufacturer just download the emulator from the internet instead of making changes and compiling their own.
For saving the game regularly, try opening the L+R menu once after you save, before you turn the system off. That should tell the emulator to move the updated save file from RAM into the cart’s flash memory.
Man I really like the way your gameboy Advance SP looks, your lucky
Open one of the carts. Odds are it’s a cheap flash card with a low capacity micro SD card inside.
No normal gba Cards from repros Have no micro sd inside
@Girtana1 The lack of "cheap" flashcarts is the reason I bought a stack of these knock-offs and a cart reader/writer.
I was wondering about those. They have been out there for months. I actually have used the emulator in a flash cart before. It's not 100% compatible with all Game Boy games, but that's to be expected.
You could also get them in transparent blue, red, or green plastic. Got mine a while ago.
You can get these on Etsy, they've been out for a couple years, ship to anywhere in the world
Goomba Color is a Gameboy Color emulator for the GBA, since the GBA can't run GB cartridges. (Note: The OG GBA and Sp have a hardware switch to change between GB and GBA cartridges.)
To properly save in Goomba Color you have to save normally in the game and afterwards press L+R, since the write access is only allowed in this menu. (Save state isn't required.)
As a sidenote: Most games run properly on Goomba Color except for Pokémon Crystal and some of the lesser known games.)
the pallet options in gooba color are only for black and white games. GBC games will always just run in their color modes.
Goomba/Goomba Color and PocketNES have similar in-game menus. Although, I believe that is using Goomba Color Palleted (EMU fork by Kuanger) because of the art borders around the aspect ratio. Saves probably aren't working because the PCB most likely doesn't have SRAM of any kind. These emus were released during a specific period of Flash Kit development when a specific memory was used across GBA flash kits. Unless you can update the EMU on the PCB with a more modern build, only save-states are likely to function. Cheers.
I wanted to find out about these!! I saw them and almost bought them. Thank God for you!
This is cool.
Man that super fami-com cover is sic.
Probably been said, but the way Goomba (and Goomba Color) work, is that you need to go back to the game list to save your data. One game means no game list, but hitting restart should do it for you.
Good content man 😎
Lol I think goomba was the app I needed to play gbc files from my SuperCard SD
i was wondering about these on ebay, never remembered ages and seasons on the advance, i have the gbc carts of the games from when i originally played them years ago (double copies of awakening dx too), all the save slots are full and i didnt want to delete any, was looking at these to play on my modded GBA so i wouldn't have to and as a bonus they wouldnt stick out the top. good to know they could atleast work
The day I got my advance I got both the Zelda ages and seasons, would love too have kept them.
Saving natively in goomba color does work buy you have to press L and R to bring up the menu after to make it dump the save properly (or something)
I have come across the middle gold one a lot at boot sales. I've never tried it
I want these remade!!! They were so fun
Nice review!
I got a couple of fakes trying to get Garfield and found the save always existed on one of them but ion a gameboy it failed to see the save. In a DS the save was detected. I then found I could get a Gameboy advance to see the save by flicking the power switch to cause a brief interruption. The other one will not save at all as there is no battery. Is that a mini HDMI connector on Gameboy Micro?
I have a similar one of these carts of LOZ Links Awakening DX for GBA but mine has 5 different versions of Link’s Awakening on it. The original GB version the GBC DX version and 3 hack versions.
He sounded exactly like Georgia productions at 4:54 in her ‘Exposing my old videos’ video
Echt geiler Trick um Gameboy Color Spiele auf dem Gameboy Micro zu zocken
That SNES SP case is bloody awesome
Ive seen both the ages and seasons gba games at a local game store. Had no idea they where fake.
Nice I’am playing the original Legend Of Zelda Oracle Of Ages
And I got my game for 2 dollars.
Fun fact, the Oracle games did have code to detect GBA. This code would color correct palettes of the game to make it look more washed out like it is on the GBC.
Where are those background borders coming from? Are they those which would have shown on the Game Boy Player?
I bought the Ages one in a Pokemon Sapphire case (so it's blue) on ebay about a month ago.. I'm still waiting for it to arrive though
4:50 He already talked like that back then.
Holy crap. Someone else has a game boy micro. Lol. Would be the ultimate game boy if it was back compatible. It has the best PPI and backlight, and your index fingers wrap around so they perfectly hit the pressure point for the LR buttons. And more portable than a phone.
Paying a little more than 5€ for Link's Awakening Deluxe sounds like a deal to me, even though it's just a repo cartridge with an emulator in it.
Always wanted to give this game a second chance and since I'm short on money right now, this looks better to me than spending 30 to 50€ on the Switch version.
Thanks for sharing this.
MegaManNeo It‘s also on the 3DS Virtual Console
I was just binge watching this noice
Does the games you linked in your description really save? How long before you cant save?
Love your videos! Keep it up!
I have two copies of the Link's Awakening one that don't save, but I never noticed the L+R menu!!
If saving doesn't work how did you have a save game when you loaded the game up on the other gba?
Thank God somebody finally put out this PSA.
I've actually had my eye on these for a while. Bit of a bummer they can't really save, but savestates work well enough I guess. At this point, I have so many Zelda games, the only way to fill the void is weird bootlegs while I wait for new official games. lol
I know this is late, but it's entirely possible he was wrong about the saving. Saving on flashcarts for example, you sometimes have to give it 5-10 seconds before powering off or closing the game. It doesn't always save as fast as it does on a real cart.
It's possible it would have saved if he gave it a few seconds before shutting it off. But he didn't really give it any time at all.
Well funny enough, between now and then, I went and bought... at least a version of the Oracle games, and they both save fine, so I'm super happy overall! My versions are even in clear red/blue casings, so they look extra cool as well.
@@ArcNeoMasato Nice, congrats. Always fun getting some new carts. Especially when they're in special colors and stuff. Are they also emulated like these? Just out of curiosity.
If I had the money to buy a ton of physical games, I totally would. I just settled on a flash cart. $80 got me a GBA Flash Cart, a new gold Zelda themed shell for my GBA SP, a 32gb Micro SD Card, a new charging cable for both my GBA, and ds lite, and a new SP Battery. Bit pricey for one chunk of money, but it'll serve me well in the long run. I mean, just being able to play games like Shantae and Trip World is worth it. Shantae alone is like $300 nowadays.
Honestly, if you're gonna go Flash Cart for that kind of money, I suggest looking into an "RK2020". It's a portable emulation system about the size of a PSP, and it's really good.
Also yes, the carts I bought were emulated in... I think the exact same way as these. I need to go back and check my own video. I bought them to play for real, but my actual gaming time is limited lately. lol
@@ArcNeoMasato I don't really need portable emulation though. I have an external hard drive hooked up to my Xbox with Retroarch. Got all my emulation there. Gameboy being one of my favorite set of handhelds, I just wanted to be able to play games on a real GBA.
Ive seen these but now i know what they are. Thanks
4:53 you sounded like Mr Mackey
I ordered one of these, got a gb cart, got money back xD
I ordered on alixpress. it was also listed on 16bit (while gb games are called 8bit on these merchants pages) so it was easy to get a refund :P
You also don’t have to worry about save battery’s and can play on the ds
The fps option is becouse its a emulator usely on pc or simular devices. The ported it + the game thats why some stuff works and some dont
Item doesn’t ship to US
And that’s why you live in Canada.
ebay
howdy comrade
...or the uk
I'd like to but they won't have me.
there’s probably dozens of listings for the exact same thing that ships to US tho, just gotta look around. also im jealous i wish i was in canada
I feel like I NEVER hear anyone talk about Oracle of Ages (whereas I hear about OoS ALL the time).
Ages was and is to this day, the only Zelda game I've played extensively. I gotta widen my horizons, lol
Could you disassemble one of those carts?
You didn't load it from the menu the first time. You switched to the gbc
I have all of those and I am playing through them....
I want those games on bootleg Switch cartridges.
Lol, the ESRB logo on the Link's Awakening cart isn't even printed straight
Actually cool thing to add to a collection would make peoples head turn. But hey might as well grab a multi cart instead or a phone lol. I miss my lil GBA even though i had the front lit screen sigh. The pocket go 2 in on pre-order though and would be perfecto for these games.
My brother managed to make an original gameboy game work on a ds lite by cutting the cartrage a bit (you can only play gameboy advance games on a ds lite)
If you want to know the specific game, its pokemon blue
good old john thanks john
1:54 But why would you want to? The display area for GB/GBC games on the Micro is painfully small.
Love the gameboy
I wonder what's inside these carts.
i have these games got them off ebay for 5.11nzd free shipping off ebay
When you were trying to save in links awakening DX you thought it didn't work but the save file saves to the last door you went through, seeing as you only went through the first door that's were it saved. Think you'd know that for it being "your favorite game"
andriodman1 so, the game actually saves as an original one?
@@kiwee_ it's hard to say by what he showed, if he went to a different door than the first one we'd know for sure.
Is there a rom for them so I can play them on myboy! App
You can buy these games on uk eBay.
Where did you get that SP shell?
I'm surprised you haven't opened on up
Funny you mention say you were sent a LINK... but they were all 3 of the Zelda GBC games 😂
You look good without your hat on
Funny how the US ebay link doesn't allow shipping to the US
Felix Novak yeah like wtf
I got Oracle of ages gba edition for 20 $
Confused. I had an oracle of ages for gba that was used. It also did not have that guimba color thing or whatever it was called.
Most likely a flash cart that had a rom installed. Not precisely the same product, but in practice the same thing.
It's law, if you have oracle of ages or seasons in a video, you must have the other game too
I want a Gameboy Micro so bad
You rock!
Waaay better then the offical cart!
have a diddy Kong pilots one I got on aliexpress which was cool
It can be pretty good for games like that. DKP was never released. I got a few Chinese reproduction as well. Usually the games that are too expensive. Now I have a EZ Flash Omega so I don't need reproduction anymore.
Copyright law is not actually a gray area. We may not like it, it may be stacked to bigger corporate interests, but it's not gray.
These are still deffo sold at conventions for a lot of money
I didn’t believe in the Mandala Effect until now. As a kid I had Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages on the GBA. I distinctly remember my Dad taking me to the store and picking both of those games up along with pokemon Emerald new in box. Are you SURE they never existed on GBA? If not they get me finally believing in the Mandala Effect Lol
Only the game boy color were they released,Along with a 3ds port of them in the E shop
Or you could just buy the games on the 3DS eshop for like 10 dollars a piece. Even has save states. That's how I played Links Awakening DX myself.
Who have link to buy that in aliexpress ?
so they're more compact versions of 3 awesome zelda games.
...neat!
I Like the super Famicom GBA SP.
