Orphan first kill was amazing, I trully enjoyed it, I couldn't get my eyes off the screen for a split second while I was in the cinema. I also enjoyed that they made Leena not perfect and make mistakes, such as the grandma situation, It added a lot to the fact that she still hasn't pefected her skills and that she did correct them when she was in the Coleman family in the 2009 movie. It was a whole lot better then i thought it would be!!

My only issue is the pacing I wish this was a show so we could get fuller content to showcase hwo she emended up in the asylum. In the first place. My only issue within it is I wish we got more of a rival between Esther and Tracia

It’s a real shame she was killed off in the 2009 movie if you don’t count the alt ending. I’ve thought a few possible ways she could’ve survived from it but you’d have to be pretty superhuman to be able to get yourself out of a frozen pond with a broken neck without anyone noticing 😬

I am from Estonia and it is kind of hilarious how very much they didn't bother researching any her background regarding the location, language, geography. I think the film takes place in 2007, 16 years after the Soviet Union fell and Estonia regained its independence. The names are mostly odd, as are the accents people have and the spelling of the few Estonian things visible. Why does she go to the American embassy in Moscow, a 600+ mile journey from Estonia which has an embassy. I take it with humor but it is a little sad how pretty much every single mention of my home country in film and TV is regarding sex, crimes or as a substitute for some "odd" place with slightly offensive stereotypes.

It's nice having insight from Estonian natives! I wondered about how authentic much of that was since this prequel's beginning featured a great deal of Estonian texts like the plaque in the mental hospital and the web browser Leena consulted to inquire about the missing American children.
I think the reason Esther went to Russia stemmed from how much more easily she'd be able to bribe her way into getting papers and doctor documents in a place as corrupt as Russia in comparison to the flourishing Estonian economy of the time (January 2007). Given her criminal records and how organized and "digitized" I imagine the Estonian police already was at the time, it would have been asinine of her to remain in Estonia where she would have been arrested at any moment

She went to Russia because if she told the Estonian police she was Esther in an attempt to make it to America they would know she was actually Leena because the staff at Saarne probably reported her as a missing criminal.

I thought this movie would just be okay at best (like I found the first Orphan to be). But this was so so so good, it's definitely one of my favorite movies I've seen this year so far. I was already enjoying the character study of Leena so much, and then that twist at the halfway point made the family just as engaging to watch. Also great to see Julia Stiles again, looked like she had fun with this one

I was genuinely surprised at how much I loved Orphan First Kill, up until the plot twist I wasnt too invested in the plot but good God did it change my perspective of Leena

I saw First Kill in a Sneak Preview (never saw the original Orphan, didn't even know it existed.) It worked as a standalone, however: There was nothing hazy in the view so maybe it depends on the cinema?
