Airplanes dominate the sky, but the most flexible and risky missions are often dealt with by helicopters. Most utility and commercial helicopters fall under the light, single-engine category, and this is arguably the most competitive segment of the market. Now featuring more powerful engines, advanced avionics, and other innovations, there’s definitely a long list of strong contenders under this category.

I now own and fly an MD500D for the last 22 years in the Philippines... Terrific machine, I must say. However, I recently ordered and excited to take delivery of the new roomy Bell 505 with all the bells and whistles. Looking forward to flying this machine for recreation and business. These whirlybirds are amazing machines......BTW, I am 74yrs old and in perfect physical and mental condition..
That's fantastic and I'm sure many here would be jealous! Those are fine helos. Hats off to you!
Take care boddy.
Thanks guys-- just completed my 505 transistion training at the Bell Academy in Texas. Awesome facility with very capable instructors. Now i am ready to take delivery of the very much in demand 505. Thank u
What city are you in, I Canadian in Cebu.
@@edsmith8301 I reside in Metro Manila
My favorite Bell 505, and I’m going to buy one next year 👍🏻👍🏻
Bell 505 is my favourite 😍
The bell 505 look liked a great buy.👍
The most agile I would say is the MD500
I was very surprised to see the AS350 series so low, considering it has the highest safety rate and most amount of hours flown out of any Helicopter in history. It is also the most common intermediate helicopter on earth. Also interesting that you grouped intermediate and light Helicopters both under "light". But a nice video even if I do disagree with the order!
At $2.9 million, it is also the most expensive. Think about value for money. Price could buy you three Robinson R66 helis.
Fully agree! The AS350/H125 supersedes in a vast variety of tasks compared to the other models. Overall it is probably the most versatile helicopter for airail work in that class. It sure is more expensive but since the whole list is capped at 3$ million there's no point to rank ing it low due to it's price point.
@@olumideiluyomade7613 n3 daphin 2helicopter fuor teen million
@@olumideiluyomade7613 or 2 Bell 505 :) and even with hourly costs - you almost could run 2 Bells for the cost of 1 Eurocopter also ... but at the end it always comes down to the mission you fly which one is best for you
Thank you for the Video. I fly my Mountain Draggon R66. N2 is a bit of a challenge during some Airwork though.
Some as350/h125 use the lts-101 but the majority have the turbomecca Arriel 2 series engines.
True. The H125 is the b3E basically. Arriel 2D. Please do not put a lycoming in it.
When you say h125 it specifically means a B3e which only comes with Arriel 2D
Favorite is the MD530F, then the MD500 then the Bell 206 in that order.
My fave is the Bell jet ranger. Love the aesthetics look. But I did not see a Sikorsky? Pardon the spelling
Can’t wait for the Hill helicopter!
Haven't really seen a Sikorsky under this price point. Do you know any?
@@AviationFederation Good point.
I love bell 505. I really want this one 🤓🤓🤓🤓
Can't thank you enough for your content, really love it. Also, you should narrate audio books, just saying....I would buy
Thank you so much for the kind feedback! Really appreciate it!

AS350 Should easily be top 3. Plus AS350 B3s are also powered by Ariel 2B engines

Bell 206 Long Ranger? 🤔🤩
little bird FTW
I'd rather die in a Robbie than get caught in a P.O.S. A-Star. Favorite would be the EC130 Beautiful !!!
And yes, flying helos 32 years, heli skiing, logging, tour, search and rescue, etc. we've seen alot in that time....
Love 'em or hate 'em, Robbies are still among the best! What a great flying experience you have!
You call the A-Star a POS, yet love the EC-130…which is basically an A-Star with a fatter cabin and fenestron.
@@o2cmefly My friend DIED in an A Star because when they landed, they encountered ground resonance, the shaking started, but before they had a chance to lift off the ground to correct it, the Entire front section of the cockpit CAME OFF and went right into the blades, Decapitating Both of them!!! Very poor factory design. The EC 130 is a widebody 120 and tube frame fully integrated through the entire cockpit upper and lower cages, plus the enclosed tail rotor for further ground personnel safety, and the dual reinforced landing gear, never worry about a collapse. And an advanced blade damper system and drivetrain cushioning that avoids 95% of the potential ground resonance situations, the rest can easily be handled by a good pilot. EC is all about safety and luxury, That's why Hawaii Blue, and most of the other Hawaiian and Vegas tour companies are switching out to a total EC 130 fleet, especially now that Covid is done. A Star was a cookie cutter police car with rotors, basically made for law enforcement with limited life and usefulness. Beat on them for all the hours you can squeeze out of the tail section, then throw it away! There's NO Comparison!
@@ceisarsrepair7958 you’re obviously NOT a pilot, and know nothing about helicopters. I’m sorry about your friend. But the EC-130 is an AS-350B4. It is NOT a “wide body” EC-120 at all, and has nothing in common with it. The EC-130 has the A-Star’s powertrain, airframe, rotor system, tail, landing gear, etc. The “advanced blade damper system and dual reinforced landing gear” you mention? Common to ALL A-Stars. The only 2 differences between an H125/AS-350B3e and the EC-130 are the fenestron tail rotor and the front cabin.
What killed your friend shouldn’t have happened, but it was nothing more than pilot error and poor flying technique. I have over 1,800 flight hours in A-Stars, and have been to the factory training school many times. Ground resonance is very difficult to get into in an A-Star or EC-130 as they BOTH have the same measures built in to prevent it. The ONLY way it can happen is poor piloting.
@@ceisarsrepair7958 I’m sorry for your friend but the A-Star’s record is legendary and they’ve made so many improvements over the years. I say this respectfully, you’re not a Pilot nor are you a true Rotorcraft enthusiast. An A-Star POS 🤣 yeah ok!
Would be good if you mentioned range capacity.
They did, for each...What do you mean by 'capacity'? Passenger and cargo weight? I'm pretty sure they figure the range for a craft with max weight in all those categories.
Wish I had some pocket money left.
Characteristics also written please
❤❤. 2:09 .
The EC 120B Colibri is way better than any of those.
f you really are a pilot ,you know that it is not!!its actualy the worst...unless you are saying that it is the prettiest lol...
@@Eduardo-xv9wc I learned in Robinsons and I'll never fly one again. They are dangerous as hell. I fly Enstroms right now and looking at upgrading to an EC 120B. It's not super powerful, but it's quiet, relatively fast, only burns 26gal/hr and it's very safe.
And, yeah. It looks great too. No wonder the pic for this video is an EC120B.
@@gnagyusa i’ve flown Robinson for many years, wouldn’t say they are dangerous as hell… they are certainly not very exciting, specially the 44… ec120 is a nice machine, i just think the h125 is a lot better
Bell 505
Everyone skips the Enstrom Helicopters.
While they might not be as widely discussed as some other helicopter brands, Enstrom helicopters have found their niche in the market. It's always a good idea to consider various options and assess specific needs when looking for a helicopter, and Enstrom helicopters could be a suitable choice for certain operators.
MD 500's any day.

Hugh’s 530 F
Indeed, the 530F offers good maneuverability, agility, and a spacious cabin for its size. With its reliable turbine engine, it provides a combination of power and efficiency.
Really didn’t provide any information about them!

wow h125 no4 in american list of light heli 😂😂😂. the only heli can land on top of everest is h125 😂😂
🇵🇭cxhdridi
Al of them are junk I trust Russia 🇷🇺 Helicopter 🚁 only not this junkies made for money
Your information on the H125 is incorrect. Back in the 1980’s, there was a version of the A-Star that had an LTS-101, the AS-350D. The vast majority of A-Stars have Turbomeca (now Safran) engines though. The H125 (formerly known as the AS-350B3e) is powered by a Safran Arriel 2D with 952shp. There are a smalll handful of AS-350D’s out there, and a more modern and reliable Honeywell LTS-101 powers them, but they aren’t common, and are not representative of what Airbus sells with this airframe. Maybe get your facts straight before publishing your video. How do I know all this? I’ve been flying these machines for 30 years, and have over 1,800 flight hours in A-Stars.
Interesting piece of info. Thanks so much for sharing!
