I love Miss Bassey but damn she's loud, too-much, she oversings. I know it comes from a place of passion. She LIVES her songs but I just wish she wasn't so loud. The best version of that song was by the late & great Eva Cassidy. You should listen to it Pat !
@rupert2591 I was sure of that. I recognize the quality of her voice but she pushes too hard too often. Bringing some nuances in the tone give harmony to a song. With her, it's very strong all the time. It works sometimes like on The James Bond themes songs or her great rendition of Light my fire by The Doors that she made but not here. I personally don't feel the emotion that Judy Garland brought or Eva Cassidy who made an even better version of this iconic song. Wherever, to each is own taste.

Shirley is such an underrated vocalist. The power/volume that comes out of that woman is extraordinary. And don't get me started on her dramatics!

When I watch a video of Shirley Bassey singing ANY song I want to hear Shirley Bassey. Over the top, dramatic, spectacular Shirley Bassey.
