Appearance with Sir Tom Jones her long time friend and Welsh counterpart on Des O'Connor TV programme I think late 80's early 90's Christmas show, or her many appearances on Graham Norton show, and the recently departed Paul O'Grady amongst many others, I think she appeared on This Is Your Life twice which you'll get a good insight into her life, which has been far from easy, she lost her voice at one point in her career after the sudden death of her daughter around 40 years ago now, which has never been solved

Shirely was born in a poor area of Cardiff, Wales, called Splott. She first worked packing saucepans in a factory in Tiger Bay. This incredible, multi-cultural melting pot of over 50 nationalities blended harmoniously despite the poverty at times. Her career began in the clubs of Tiger Bay. My all time favorite movie theme! Hands down, nothing else even comes close!
While I don't agree on that I would definitely say that for me as well as the overwhelming majority of Bond Fans, this is easily the best and most iconic Bond song, nearly every movie after it includes parts of the song played at key points.
I think many ppl would be hard pressed to find an argument against that statement. From her powerful vocals, to the horns, to the composition and how they weave in the James Bond theme song...impeccable. This is my favorite JB theme song. Man... even though this was way before my time, I can easily admit that they don't make singers or music like this anymore. Plus, those are bomb Bond movies! Love the older Bond flicks.
OMG you have been bitten by the Bassey Bug bad and theres no cure except to imerse yourself in her amazing talent. You must do 'This is My Life' and her rendition of 'Where do I begin (the theme from Love Story). The second always makes me cry.
I have been extremely fortunate to see Dame Shirley Bassey twice. What a powerhouse living legend! She is also known to be the only singer that can perform in an outdoor arena without speakers. That is how incredibly strong her voice is. She is incredible to say the least! ❤

Shirley bassey is the greatest female vocalists to come from britain. She was from a poor area of wales, tiger bay. Same as tom jones, from a small town mining community, ponyyprid. Shirley was a very beatiful woman, but also had a remarkable voice.

Another great singer - have you seen Joe,Cocker perform the Beatles “With A Little Help From My Friends” from the iconic Woodstock Festival in 1968. Like Shirley, just nothing like him. It is stunning.

In 1964 I went to see a James Bond movie and the film showing was Goldfinger and Shirley was the song's intro and that was when I fell in love.
The acoustics are brilliant in the Royal Albert Hall. I feel lucky to have been there. Love Shirley Bassey too. Have you seen her performance at Glastonbury yet? Worth a watch.

I've been a fan since the sixties! Had her very first vinyl ...this song is on it,and even better back then! Have the cd now...Saw her in concert at Hollywood Bowl,she was amazing!..as a helicopter was flying overhead she looked up and said,"eat your heart out Barbara" referring to Streisand!...At the end of the concert, she did that famous impression of Tina Turner with her hair blowing in the wind,,She and Della Reese brought me through my early days of love and romance along with Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole and Elvis!..Goldfinger brought her to the head of the charts and in the spotlight....What a voice!

Wales has also produced acting royalty like Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins, Actress wife of Michael Douglas (Catherine Zeta Jones) was born in Mumbles, Swansea, Wales about three miles from where I live. So my hometown is Swansea and there are 5 Swansea’s in USA, one of those is in the county of Bristol,Massachusetts and was named such after some of the earliest settlers there in the 1700’s were from Swansea, Wales!! 🏴

I saw Shirley live in 1986 . Amazing!!! Check out What now my love and I who have nothing . She was born and brought up in Tiger Bay in Cardiff in Wales 🏴 UK . A very poor area in the dock lands area of the city . She’s also duetted with Tom Jones , both Welsh Icons!

When you understand the context of how glamorous Shirley bassey was in the 70s, it illustrates how great the morcambe and wise sketch was. Particularly as you never saw celebrities outside of their normal context in those days, like you do now. A lot of the comedy of their celeb sketches were based on that.

So funny, I just suggested you find this live performance with her in the sea green dress. There are a number of them because it was a concert. Once again, she has one of the greatest voices of all time. Her voice is incredible. God gave her a once in a lifetime gift. She and Patti Labelle has incredible power and vocal agility, Both of them has preserved their voices so well. But, Shirley Bassey was still singing so well at 85 years old and Patti Labelle just sang at her goddaughter Mariah Carey's tribute at 79 years old. Thanks for your irresistible video reaction to Dame Shirley Bassey! I'm proud of you for being an American (I assume) and a man of color who embraces this exceptional woman. I've known about DSB for many years because I studied in my youth to become an opera singer. I remember buying one of her "live" concert albums and sharing it with my voice teacher who wasn't impressed with her singing. This crushed me, but I continued to listen to DSB's album because she was called the female Tom Jones who I also adored as a child and watched his TV show every week. Well, I happened to see your video of DSB, and I had no idea that she moved around and used such gestures when she sang. How mesmerizing this woman was! Can you imagine if the late Prince Rogers Nelson had written a song for DSB to perform. The audience would have rushed to the restrooms to tidy themselves after experiencing this artist on stage. I'm not surprised that Dame Shirley has a wicked sense of humor and that she's been married more than once. What man (straight, gay, bisexual or even celibate) could resist Shirley Bassey! Even women admire her artistry, charm and sensual energy. If only the young singers today, especially the famous ones, would study DSB's stage presence, costumes, vocal technique and demeanor, perhaps people wouldn't misbehave at their concerts, would be more respectful and enjoy the performance. Also, these singers need to find a good vocal coach to give them the proper guidance to avoid ruining their vocal chords and having surgery which means cancelling concerts or tours, thereby disappointing their fans. Have seen Shirley many times since 1975 to early 2000,s ....interval, empty stage, mic awaits, the air of excitement is tangible, the orchestra arrives, the conductor...and the house lights go down, spot light on, the orchestra begins intro and there she is...stunning! As you say, no dancers or backing singers just a wonderfully exciting performer that blows you away! None better.
This was my favourite period of the glorious and beautiful Shirley Bassy. The crystal clear and dynamic voice was matched by her exciting performance. Could send me to the stratosphere. Probably one of the most exciting female singers.

Dame shirley basseys career in showbusiness started in the 50s. Shes in her 80s and still foxy AF.... and sings as well as she ever did. In 70s and 80s she had her own variety show. Ive always wanted to see her live. Kanye west sampled diamonds are forever.
