Update: I did a second test flight this morning and my GPS locked considerably faster. Perhaps they could have been cached but I had a GPS lock in about one minute. Many others are reporting faster connections after the firmware update.
The update also now allows you to move the drone while it is processing panoramic photos, in the previous version you couldn't touch any of the controls without stopping the pano. Big improvement if you use your drone for virtual tours.
@@AirPhotography Just tried it indoors & it went to 4, 13, 15 & home point in 12 seconds : ) This same spot with my A2S would lock in about 20-30 seconds. Never with this M3 until now.
Great overview of the new firmware, I've got to fly one time with it, and it's a real game changer. The Mavic 3 just became a much better drone. Thanks for sharing Shawn.
I haven't tried the new update but did fly in several places and realized that if you fly multiple times in the same location, the GPS acquisition is slow the first flight, however, after that it is much faster in the same location. This tells me that I can arrive early and acquire satellites and then fly sooner when it matters.
Great video Shawn , you explain it a little better then the few I have already watched 👍 , thank you , wished one of the buttons would assigned the battery feature I had on DJI inspire and phantom’s , something I always used , showed all the battery display . And why can’t they change the profile screen to miles like on iOS ,not kilometres for android. But thank you for sharing looking forward to update from yourself on the features you mentioned 👍👍👍👍
I had same problems as you with satellites but after updating it was instantly my only problem was I could only set my return to home point at 203ft quite strange and dangerous. Great video my friend look forward to some more videos 😁👍👌🇬🇧
Should I buy a Mavic 3 or just get Mini 3 pro? I do alot of landscape photography and some videos. I don't really care much about night time. I've heard people are saying grt the Mini 3 because it's worth more than the m3
Wow it's weird that I keep watching videos that talk about GPS lock taking forever to be established. I bought my M3 in the Phillipines during the last few days of my vacation and it took only about 1 - 2 minutes. Came back home to Guam 🇬🇺 and had to do 1 Compass Calibration and the GPS still takes about 1 - 2 minutes.
So weird, have updated but can’t get pro mode settings on zoom camera, nor does it show me the x7 shortcut button like in you’ve video. Still showing binoculars icon .Any tips?
Sure they did. Literally between when I boxed up the Mavic 3 and RC Pro and got back from the Pack N' Ship store I use for UPS. I had an open case: No Airsense, at all. Nothing. Worse, I STARTED getting RC Pro Disconnects - I never had them until the GPS Update in March to V01.00.0600, but that may be coincidental. I finally give up after 3 disconnects the night before, pack it, ship and TA DA! They drop this. While I'm out. LOL - its all good. At least I will be able to USE these. Best of all the Wide Angle lens works in all autonomous modes. Here come wide Hyperlapse videos!
Oh dear because it was supposed to fix it according to the notes still never mind I don’t suppose you tried it out with the new RC did you say somebody said that it is now compatible
Great Video Shawn, I have the Air 2s, and have the RC Pro controller, I have not seen anyone covering the Air 2s and how the new firmware 03.01.0700 affects it.
A good point. I flew my air 2S2 days ago with a new firmware controller and everything worked perfectly basically it adds those same button customizations which is handy for a lot of people who like to customize the way things work
Hi Shawn. Does Canada have a drone laws similar to the United States? I just took the commercial drone pilot test here in the states so I was curious how the laws are there. Thanks.
Looks blurry still on the closeup. Did they fix that? The mav 2 was more consistent with closeup photos for roof inspections because they needed to update the firmware for that for the 3.
Hi Shawn, great video as usual. Glad I watched this as none of the enhancements on the latest update are going to be of use in my flight today at Spillars Cove & Arch Rock at Bonavista, Newfoundland. My satellite acquistion has been taking less than a minute with the firmware prior to this one. I’ll tell you how long it takes with my flight today & the amount of satellites I acquire (usually 20+). Could your problem be part of a batch of Mavic 3’s made earlier since you’ve had it for quite a while? Thanks again for the firmware review!
@@AirPhotography Hi Shawn, did 3 flights yesterday in high wind in a place called Bonavista in Newfoundland in 20mph winds with 30mph gusts all over cliff edges & open sea while it was foggy & spitting drops of rain! Satellite acquisition on first cold boot with RC Pro controller was less than 1 minute.
Did you manage to get outdoor mode showing ? :-/ Also the zoom wheel doesn’t work for photos for some reason Good ol DJI.. fix something and break something else lol
I think what happened is the outdoor mode was in the beta software but for whatever reason they opted not to release it yet. Maybe they found a bug last minute
For the zoom to work , you now have go to explorer mode , on rc pro I have just assigned c3 button to explore mode then the zoom works , press c3 button and it will either let you use the wheel on the right side or press c3 again and it goes back to normal no zoom 👍 Oh and nifty is daft , yes gets close then speeds up to 30+mph to avoid something lol , leave it in normal mode 👍👍 And no outdoor mode for me either , rc pro is bright enough already , if I had one complaint it would be I’m on full volume and she speaks so low on full volume compared to my iPhone 13 pro max 😥
There is an EXTREMELY SIGNIFICANT FLAW in this firmware update. The ability to vary exposure (ISO, f-stop, shutter speed) is no longer an option during hyperlapses. The work i do for my clients is extremely dependent on this ability as I capture hyperlapses during times of day where light is constantly changing (sunrise / sunset). I'm not only disappointed, I'm extremely shocked at this and need to find a way to revert back to the old firmware. If your thing is hyperlapses, DO NOT update the firmware yet until DJI fixes this.
Update: I did a second test flight this morning and my GPS locked considerably faster. Perhaps they could have been cached but I had a GPS lock in about one minute. Many others are reporting faster connections after the firmware update.
I saw my fastest lock times ever both times I started up the Mavic under the new firmware. Hopefully this is the case going forward.
The update also now allows you to move the drone while it is processing panoramic photos, in the previous version you couldn't touch any of the controls without stopping the pano. Big improvement if you use your drone for virtual tours.
My GPS until today was always 3-5 minutes. Now it is almost instant. Thank for the video, always a great job!
Wow that’s awesome, hopefully it was just some weird anomaly today I’m going back out tomorrow to do some more tests. Thanks for sharing your feedback

So do I, much quicker now
Thanks for the prompt video after the update!
My Homepoint locked really quickly after this update, with a 'cold' unit, FWIW. Happy camper!
Great video! Just as a heads up my GPS was finally fixed and I get it up and running 30-45 secs and that’s from turning on the drone.
Great overview of the new firmware, I've got to fly one time with it, and it's a real game changer. The Mavic 3 just became a much better drone. Thanks for sharing Shawn.
Thanks Ron

Great new firmware analysis. Nice work
Good work on the telephoto DJI. Just got my Mavic 3, but haven't flown it yet - looking forward to experimenting with the 7x.

Thanks for the update. I enjoy your videos. Great info!
Great news!! Thanks for the update!!!
Thanks for this. I did the update today and it is still taking 3-5 minutes for home point to be locked in.

Another amazing video with helpful information as always, thanks for sharing my friend :)

Good Info
Do you know if the Magenta cast on the sides of the frame on still photos was addressed?
Does the 7x Telephoto lens let you access D-Log with that lens?
Oh dear because it was supposed to fix it according to the notes still never mind I don’t suppose you tried it out with the new RC did you say somebody said that it is now compatible
Could the updated refresh rate for home point be reason for issue with satellite lock?

We have no issues with GPS lock here in OZ👍

GPS very quick now on my unit
I wished they would fix the air sense so it would work
At the end was that your drone footage and if it is what model?
Looks blurry still on the closeup. Did they fix that? The mav 2 was more consistent with closeup photos for roof inspections because they needed to update the firmware for that for the 3.
Did they fix that with the last update?
any sample photos ?

Thanks for sharing your feedback, and indeed perhaps it’s just my unit. I may look into that with DJI and see what they suggest

My mini 3 pro want to install it
Lucky that I have never had GPS issues, always getting 20+ satellites in

Hard to listen all the way through with voice volume changing SOOO much. Rising and extreme lowering of voice volume in each sentence.. 😬
I had a GPS lock in about 30 seconds after this update. Maybe you’re experiencing a hardware issue.

@@AirPhotography You cannot rollback from 0700 . It has an anti roll back "feature", that´s bad and should be mentioned.
Just don't calibrate the imu or it will stop you flying . Imu won't calibrate error
