Thanks Shawn. For me? Didn't go well. Flew the Mini 3 to try out Vertical/Portrait tracking (Hyperlapse worked, but popped up a message: "Hyperlapse dpes not work in this mode" and 2 second interval was not available) - then paired the RC (RM330) with Mavic 3. Got about 900 feet, locked completely, never regained control, even rebooted it, as Mavic 3 flew home like a ghost ship. Tried again, flew straight up, locked again. Going to refresh the firmware on RM330 today, but that was less than stellar. Intersting how RM330 has to switch Firmware every time you switch Mini 3 to Mavic 3. They keep both copyright in nvram, so it can switch, most likely for the O3 vs O3+ difference, similar to how DJI does it on RC-N1, but in the background. Update: Used DJI Assistant 2 Consumer Drone Series (not the old "for Mavic" and instead of "Refresh" it showed "Update" - like it wasn't fully updated, and it wouldn't work. So I downgraded the drone to V01.00.0150, THEN it Updated fully, but to V01.00.0201, not 0200. Going out to test further, but I would suggest doing this way, it has resolved lots of issues recently, including disconnects. Worth the effort and you can downgrade with Assistant if a new release is causing havoc!
Great video, but per the instructions on that screen, you pair by first holding the button on the drone, then hitting pair. When I did it that way, there was no annoying constant beeping sound lol it didn’t even beep at all, it just connected.
@@AirPhotography do you know if the RC can be used with a Mavic 3 even if the controller has been supplied with a mini 3 pro? I recently bought the Mavic 3, which came with the non-screen controller, and I would like to be able to swap between drones but use the RC controller, should it simply be a question of ‘pairing’ the controller to the drone each time any swap of drones is made? I seem unable to get the RC controller to pair with the Mavic 3, Amy tips or advice greatly appreciated. I also bought a lifetime upgrade of waypoint from DJI before Christmas, but don’t see this on my controller and of course cannot therefore access it - I find the DJI support a little confusing, but I guess I best get in touch with their online assistant to iron out that one! I just tested it today with the Mavic 3, and the range was very limited when using the DJI RC, instead of the RC Pro. Great testing Shawn, you seemed to have a better experience than I did. The Mavic 3 worked great with the DJI RC until it got beyond 2500 feet. Thanks for sharing.
That is very interesting and you would’ve been flying over water which should’ve had very little interference. Yeah I was actually quite pleased with the performance ideally the RC pro is still a better performing controller. It was only my first flight who knows my opinion may change the more I fly with it. Thanks for sharing your experience Ron.
Great video, Shawn. I am glad you like the DJI RC. Seems like it works great with the Mavic 3. Mine is on order from DJI. Looking forward to receiving it and flying my Mavic 3 with it.
The best review so far with RC + Mavic 3, thanks! I wish someone could fly at the list 2kms with that, as it is the maximum I do normally fly my drones, but your job was really good 👍
Excellent video Shawn. I live in Moncton NB and I still have that signal issue like you have. My friend across the street from me also has the issue so I guess it effects most Mini 3 Pro drones. I did read today on some DJI forum that DJI is currently working on this and will be providing a firmware update shortly to correct this. It was on an actual screen shot of a reply from DJI to another flyer with the same FCC/CE issue. Guess we just have to hang in there buddy.
Didn't have the same experience you had with the RC. My Rc-N1 gave much better range with way less dropouts. Something most RUclips drone reviewers seem to echo. I've tested the RC with my Mini 3 Pro and M3 Classic and the RC-N1 beats it every time
Great video, I think DJI should work in parallel tracks enabling drone compatibility with the DJI RC and DJI RC Pro with drones ranging from the Air 2 all the way to the Mavic 3. The Mavic 3 should have included the DJI RC from launch instead of the RC-N1 controller. There were undoubtedly logistical problems that would have delayed the launch of the Mavic 3 if the DJI RC were included as the default controller. I would like DJI to mimic what occurs in the RC Hobby space where helicopters, airplanes, cars, boats and FPV drones are controlled from one requisite transmitter. If DJI adheres to past history, the DJI RC and DJI RC Pro will be relevant until Occusync 4.0 is released, which would debut in the Mavic 4. That pattern started with the DJI Crystal Sky and the Mavic Pro, then with the DJI Smart Controller and the Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom and now the DJI RC Pro and the Mavic 3.
Nice. If i only have mavic 3 this is the best alternative remote control instead of buying the smart controller and I think it will not hurt a lot in the pocket hehehehe.
Thanks for the review - in your opinion - would it make sense for the DJI RC to be shared between two drones the Mavic 3 and Mini 3 ? Are there issues with syncing each time and or with the care refresh?
This is awesome news! I just got the mini 3 after weeks on back order and was wanting to buy the extra pro Rc controller for my mavic 3 but it has been on back order on B&H. Can you bind both drones to the Rc pro? The mini and the mavic 3?
Since the Fly app At this point, it does not have tripod mode or waypoints, have you found any problems moving and slowly or as smoothly as you’d like? Can you adjust The Expo settings in the app to slow things down for more controlled pans and movements? Or rather I’m sure we can adjust them. Have you done that? Or feel you need to? And if so what are you are adjusting settings for the smoothest cinematic movements?
Thank you for the great video! I noticed that the horizon is slightly tilted. I heard that the Movic 3 has such a problem. Could you comment on this issue. Thanks!

FYI the Mavic 3 sounds obnoxious compared to Mini 3, even with Master Airscrew Stealth Props on it. It is a much more powerful drone, it's not a design flaw - but once again highlights what a true Stealth drone the small, light colored and super quiet Mini 3 Pro is!
Its a shame you talked about the video & did not show how you activated the screen. I went out & bought one of these same controlers a lack of instructions is the main problem I found with it. A camera view of a drone flying is common stuff, of little interest! Someone showing exactly now they touch buttons & screen to find how strong your GPS conection is or how you zoomed with this controler would be more the sort of thing that would better sell the use of this device!
I like the fact that this RC has direct connection and of course the built in screen. There are 2 things that I don't care for... The size is for people with smaller hands. I need to be extra careful or I touch the screen and it goes out of camera view or changes settings. I do however wish they'd add the Air 2 to the mix.
