I agree with you on lightroom, performance and the use of it as a photography tool. Downloading the bird preset, thanks for letting us test it =) you videos looks great =)

Thanks Robert, really like your video style. I too preferred Aperture but now use C1 which I find works well with Nikon raw files.

Thanks! I haven't spent enough time with C1 to learn it properly yet - I'll get around to trying it again at some point I expect 😅

Thanks for the presets - nicely done. I made one modification though - under Color/B&W Rendering I changed "Type" to "Camera body" and "Rendering" to my camera model. I believe you were right to release the preset in a more generic form just thought I'd personalize it for my setup.

Ooh yes I do usually do that too - but yeah I figured releasing them set to one camera might not make the most sense 😅

DCP works really well, would be fun to see a bird holding a Datacolor colorchecker to enable the colour of the light you are workman with.

Haha now that would be a fantastic test setup 😆 Maybe if I glue some fake rabbit ears to one and hide it in a field I could get a bird of prey to pick it up 🤔

I loaded your plugins and they seem pretty good, I like the Birds desat best but they all look a bit heavy on the blue channel on my laptop.

Ooh yes, I did find the blue too heavy in a few shots, which is why I made the blue-cut variant - but perhaps I need to go even further with it 🤔I'll keep revising it as I try it on more photos 😀

I like PhotoLab however they really need to focus on their magic mask tool to make it more…magic. Perhaps AI masking for subjects birds, people, animals.

Ooh yes, that would be a nice improvement. Masking birds with a trackball isn’t exactly speedy 😅

What I miss in PL7 compared to LR is presets for the local adjustment brush

I too have always disliked Lightroom, it tries to take over all your files and everything... Sometimes I just want to right click an individual image and put into PS or ACR for a quick re-edit etc but doing that with Lightroom is not simple like PS without loading the whole file or batch ...I use PS for almost everything these days and the plugins that don't work with PS I use them as a stand alone or an alternative. I also use Nikon NX Studio for some things having used Capture NX extensively in the past. I too have Photo Lab 7, got it discounted to use their camera correction profiles and their excellent Raw file de-noise modules. I've tried full edits with PL7 and it does the basics really well but masking is miles behind Adobe so it is mostly used like a plugin. It's great that you made some presets for PL7, I'll have a look thanks. I do use presets sometimes but, although they can be time saving, I use them only occasionally as I get lazy and my edits start look too similar.😂

Haha yeah I totally agree - I have a few presets from other people and I so rarely use most of them. James Popsys has some great ones for landscapes in Wales in Lightroom, but that's probably a little bit niche 😆
Yeah some improved masking support in PhotoLab would be nice. We haven't had AI masking in Lightroom for that long but it's one of those features that became really convenient almost immediately and it's hard to go without it now.
