I was diagnosed when I was 11. I had a bumpy sore on my lower lip and my lip was swollen. My doctor told my parents that I needed to keep my hands and face clean and use this ointment he gave me. Emotional scars aside, I have continued to get these “sores” on my lip. I’m now 56 years old. I have always washed my face twice. I wash my hands sometimes an unreasonable number of times because I am hyper conscious of this condition. Doctors have told me I have the herpes 2 virus and that I have impetigo. Then they wave it off like it’s nothing.
I carry alcohol and cotton balls and campho phenique with me every where. I used chapstick medicated every single day as my lip balm which helps keep it at bay. The emergency kit is there in case I feel a sore coming on. I don’t have any of the underlying conditions you spoke of but this is an every day battle for me.
I think at my next check up, I need to ask my doctor to talk and little more seriously about this.
I never had this but my friend in elementary school did and it looked painful as heck! She also had eczema. I remember her coming to school painted in gentain violet. I felt bad for her because kids are cruel and coming to school with purple medication all over them was an easy target. Thanks for speaking on this. Really important when my mother had impetigo i used mupirocin aka bactroban while wearing gloves and then wrapped it with a sterilized gauze. But i washed my mother's laundry separately using high temperature water and bleach that doesn't remove the colour from the clothes 😊❤. @@RoyalFlush7096 I'm in Greece so i use klinex advance (blue is my fav). I tested it on colored clothes and it didn't remove their colour.
I got impetigo on my lips once when my mouth was hit by another player's wrist guard while playing roller derby. Luckily I happened to have Fucidin H on hand and it cleared up within a few days of treatment.

I went to summer camp in NH right before I turned 16. I grew up dealing with eczema, as well as both irritant and allergic contact dermatitis. Near the end of camp I noticed 3 sores, two on my right leg and one on my right arm. I thought I scratched mosquito bites too hard. I got home, went to the doctor, and they said I had impetigo. Upon watching this video, I looked up pictures of ecthyma and that's EXACTLY what I had! I'm 35 now and two of the scars are finally gone. There was one that itched so badly before I got treatment, and anytime the perimeter would scab over I'd peel it back open again because it itched so badly. Glad to know what kind I had, after all these years! Anytime I'd look up impetigo, none of the pictures would look like what I had. Least now I have the name to keep in my mind for the future 😊

I literally just went through this and I’m recovering. I don’t know how I got it. I’m 27 and I don’t go to the gym or play sports. My pustules were orange and I was just so defeated. I’ve been on steroids and antibiotics (including mupirocin in my nose which stung soooo bad) since April 1st. But there’s discoloration on my skin when the pustules and blisters used to be. I never scratched it because I knew it would make it harder for me to heal. I’m so insecure about it and my dermatologist won’t help me out with it. She recommended cerave and cetaphil to wash my face and the citric acid in it was giving me a burning sensation. I hope I can prevent this in the future. Because I wanted to throw everytime I looked at myself in the mirror. I’ve washed my hands so much every single day since I went to urgent care for this that I have eczema on my hands right now. I just hope I can put this past me for good.

If impetigo is staph or strep, what makes it contagious as opposed to other staph/strep skin infections? ie- infected cuts or surgical sites?

My baby got it idk from where 😢 he about to turn 1 on may 22 and it brakes my heart he such a calm baby and doesn't fuss much about it but it makes me sad because I'm sure it itches crazy we have it covered with the ointment he got it mostly all over his head eyebrows and back . We have an appointment Monday with a dermatologist 😢 I pray it clears up fast and it doesn't spread to my 4yr old .
I got this on my chin somehow in my early 20s after a camping trip. I thought it was poison ivy, but my doc said it was impetigo. I STILL have a pinky-red discolouration on the chin where the rash was after 15 years. I've used Differin, other retinoids, lactic acid, niacinamide - nothing impacts the redness at all. It's not that noticeable, though. I've got Fitzpatrick 1 skin.
I recently got eczema around my lips for the first time in my life, and also develop impetigo for some reason at the same time (maybe I did scratch my face while sleeping) my doctor prescribed me Fusidic acid , the impetigo disappeared but after that the eczema never went away and I can’t stop using hydrocortisone cream.

my son got impetago couple of months ago, it left big marks how can those be treated?
when i was little i had a very serious case of this, the doctors said they hadn't seen anything like it. all over my body head to toe! there was loads of complications and i ended up dealing with it for around 3-4 weeks (poor 3 year old me). I ended up peeling like a snake when i started healing!

I had impetigo in high school. They think i got it from a swimming pool. The pool was green but they said it was fine to swim in... i still have scars on my face 20 years later however its just tiny craters. I have it all over my body but they were very spread out.
My teen daughter got this bad last year. She got a bunch of bug bites on her legs after going on a walk with her friend. The friend, who's dad is a wrestling couch, had impetigo and since they were sharing a bed... Anyway, for a while, i thought it was Poison ivy, but my daughter insisted it was bug bites. Before I knew it, it got BAD and spread all over the back of her legs. My other daughter got it and so did my son. I know it's from sharing towels. 🤢 They got endless amounts of grief from me about this. Anyway, my daughter had dark scars from this for MONTHS. They finally look better after getting her some scar gel. My son, for some odd reason, kept getting it on his face and I was so diligent about keeping him clean, his bedding clean, towlels, everything! It kept coming back fom about two months. Now, were impetigo free. Thankfully I know what to look for now in the future. That stuff is nasty!
Had impetigo, thought it is just some wound that is healing and the upper crust is being formed near the nose area but that hurt a lot when stretched.
1stly used mupirocin and impetigo went away but it came back after few months
2ndly used fusidic acid and impetigo went away but came back after a few weeks

Can you please do a specific video on urticaria hives with product recommendations etc and contact dermatitis. Im feeling helpless there is no videos hardly on hives and how to self care it im feeling fustrated cause i feel like hives not many people know much and im suffering from severe hives/contact allergic dermatitis and just at wits end on how to care for it. Doctors dont seem to know what to do apart from antihistamines and creams which is not hugely helpful. A dermatologists view would be helpful and it will help alot of other people because its not many dermatologists are out there and its such a long wait to see one and hard to see one. PLEASE HELP for all us people who suffer from Hives, contact allergic dermatitis

Do you have any moisturiser recommendations for someone with urticaria/contact dermatitis which is what doctor says i have only had it for over a week and how often and when to apply the moisturiser?
