I saw them last September in concert They sound as good in concert as they do on their albums. These boys are the real deal. Just an opinion from a 71 year old Rocker
They are the only newer band I will listen to! I love them...I'm 63 and was a teen in the 70s! How do you like those vocals! And REAL instruments! Sounds like Robert Plant from Zeppelin at times too!
He sounds like Josh from Greta Van Fleet! He got that voice from trying to be heard over the instruments when they were a garage band starting out. Voice coaches are amazed and have noting but good things to say about his vocals. Fan for life!
All their songs are about the Earth... in case you were ever wondering about their lyrics... either physically or in the spiritual/astrology sense. people usually think it is about like one of the popular religions or something
They are 3 brothers and a friend on drums from Frankenmuth Michigan. The singer and guitarist are twins...the bassist/keyboardist is their younger brother and like I said the drummer is a friend.
This is a brilliant band. They are really big on 60s/70s Rock revival. They have a lot of classic influences. Most notable is Led Zepplin, and yes, Rush. When they first started out, a lot of people criticized them for it and called them a glorified cover band, rip offs, untalented, etc. Since then though they have been able to find a more unique sound that still obviously pulls from those inspirations but doesn’t turn them into an outright copy ( which, they never were, but they were just similar enough for people to get that impression). They are young, in their late 20s and have been very successful despite the constant flack. The Lead is Josh Kiska, and his Twin brother Jake on guitar and their other brother Sam on keys. The drummer is a friend. They were born and raised in Michigan. ( if you want more personal info You can google or wiki them or I’m sure someone else will be more extensive when comments start rolling in). This song in particular is from their album “Battle at Garden’s Gate”. Every song on that album is amazing, but my top favorites are: “ Broken Bells”, “ Tears of Rain”, “Built by Nations”, “Age of Machine”, and “ Light my Love”( Broken Bells, Tears of Rain, and Light My Love have the candlelight session versions, which everyone is going to tell you are the best versions of these tracks). Other albums you should check out: all of them if I’m being honest. One of those bands that don’t really have any bad songs. They have two other albums out, 2017’s “ From the Fires” and “ Anthem of the Peaceful Army” in 2018. This album was released a couple years ago, so it’s good that your first introduction was of something new-ish. It’s a lot better for new fans now to go backwards because it’s often hard for some people to lose the judgement after they hear the glaring similarities to Zeppelin and other bands early on. It’ll for sure allow you to see how far they’ve come and how much their sound has improved with a hopefully more appreciative view on the older stuff. ( at least that’s how I was introduced). Other Songs: “ Curtain Falls”, “ Highway Tune” ( First official single that got them recognized), “Age of Man”, “ Edge of Darkness”, “ Black Smoke Rising”, and “Always There”. These are all my favorites of their earlier stuff. And finally; just released a new single a couple days ago called “Meeting the Master” that I think you’ll like as well. They are about to drop a whole new album in June as well. I really hope you continue to dive into them, they absolutely made me enjoy music again, bringing back an older style that has been lost in mainstream music for a very long time. 😄
I know people have commented on their costumes. In their first video they wearer jeans and t-shirts. After playing at a party hosted by Elton John, he suggested that they try some of the more outrageous looks like the bands of the 1970’s. When they perform live, their outfits are much more toned down. Also they wrote these songs in their late teens, easy twenties.
Josh sounds like himself. I’m 66 and have not heard anyone who sounds like the old Rock. I do not remember anyone being compared to anyone else back in the day, so I don’t get the need to compare these guys to anyone else. No disrespect meant to Robert Plant, but at this rate, Josh will surpass the talent of Mr. Plant, if they continue to create music this good.
When I compare Josh to another singer it’s the ultimate compliment. Josh is absolutely phenomenal his head and chest voice register is off the charts. These youngsters are absolutely amazing. Robert Plant and Jimmy were giving them praise when they first got noticed. Who wouldn’t want to be compared to some great singer songwriters and musicians. They were influenced by many great bands of the 70’s. They are what we need in this society now. I believe they are compared to bands like Zeppelin and also I have heard a little Black Crows it’s because of there musical flexibility the don’t sound the same on every song like the greats.
Geddy (Lee) is the lead singer from RUSH. If you really haven’t heard any RUSH I highly recommend you take a listen. Particularlybto the drums. Anyhoo, yes they’ve been compared to them as well as Led Zepplin. I always like LZ but was never a die hard fan. I am of Greta Van Fleet though. GVF gives me more Triumph vibes.
Great review. I think eventually people will say he sounds like himself…it’s a pretty unique instrument that he has and he will continue to develop as they record more songs. Looking forward to the release of their next album in July.

How unreal was Jake’s guitar solo in Weight of Dreams…my jaw was on the floor
I'm actually liking the live concerts even more than the studio recordings. There's not much bands around that we can say so.

Still gives me chills
He has an amazing voice

People can compare all day long. To me hes got the voice of Josh. Someday people will be saying other artist sound like him as a comparison
Great song ❤ my favorite from them. They get compared to Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin mostly. This song for me I hear Geddy Lee of Rush.
All about the love Sammy on the organ? Priceless 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Now, all over social media, I see people trying to sing like Josh. Of course they don’t ☺️
Getty is the singer from Rush.
Sensacional 💙💙💙💙
Led Zeppelin, Rush, Yes, Triumph, Queen had a baby!
🥰🥰GVF🥰🥰
Great song for sure. That said I do question their wardrobe choices 🤣🤣🤣
Getty is, of course Getty Lee of Rush.
Decades and decades of bad , autotune music are over. Greta Van Fleet has arrived !
