Another classic from Surface is "Shower Me With Your Love". ❤❤❤
That's the song I think of when I hear the band Surface. That's got to be their next one
Oh yes a great song for sure
You guys gotta listen to Al B. Sure -- from the same period, so smooth, and a great falsetto! "Night and Day" ... "Naturally Mine" ... "Off On Your Own" ... The 80's baby!!
YES!!!!!!
He was alright. He had that one good tune. Other than that, his other stuff just sounded like filler to me. He's a great producer though.
Yeah I liked him too
Surface: "Shower Me With Your Love" , "Closer Than Friends" "You Are My Everything" "The First Time" Thank you ✨💜✨
Regina Belle is on one of those songs. 🖤
@@gabrielmcdonnell8699 "You Are My Everything". 💜
Back in the 1980's my friend and I own use to video tape couples weddings. "Shower Me With Love" and "The First Time" were songs they always wanted in their wedding videos.
@nabibutterfly5385 yeah those are some great songs
Shouting out my uncle pic from surface
I've seen several people suggest the SOS Band. They were awesome! "Just be good to me" is a good one to start with. Ready for the world, Alexander O'Neal, Cherelle, Keith Sweat, N2deep, MC Hammer, Midnight Star, Cameo, Morris Day and the Time.... So many great songs and so little time
The System - Don't Disturb This Groove
I'm waiting on them to react to that one!!!!!
Jay and Amber Another Outstanding R and B group you gotta checkout is 9O s Mint Condition great band great voice Songs U Send Me Swinging , Pretty Brown Eyes
Stokely 🙌🏽
If you like Surface, (lead singer is Bernard Jackson) you should check out "The Deele" which features the amazing artist, "Babyface".
"Two Occasions"
"Body Talk"
"Shoot 'Em Up Movies"
Also, check out "Force MDs"...
"Tender Love" (this one brings tears to my eyes, especially watching the Video)
"Love Is a House"
"Two Occasions" FOR SURE!
Can't forget "Sweet November."
@@RobertSmith-js2kz
That's a favorite that takes me back to days of slow dancing in the club, and also at home with my boyfriend. 🙂
@@Dirtcake71
Hmm. I did forget about it, and it's possible because for some reason, it wasn't played very much on the R&B radio station I used to listen to. I would usually only hear it when someone played the cassette. 🫤
@@LMmccallL57 I understand. I had the complete opposite. Two Occasions wasn't played nearly as much as Sweet November but both were played enough where I had them memorized in no time. All of your suggestions are classics.
Surface are MASTERS of the Quiet Storm. When you want to pull out the champagne and turn down the lights, throw on some Surface!
Surface so overlooked ,and underrated. They have a beautiful sound.Such easy listening music for any ocasion.
I'm sure you two have had a request for Loose Ends. Either "Stay a Little While" or "Slow Down" would be great for a reaction video. They are an R&B 80s group from England.
“Hanging On A String” 🇬🇧🖤
I'm so "Happy" that you are finally dialed into this great style of SYNTH 80s R&B. It was a short-lived and very special time. Check out "Closer Than Friends" by the same band. SURFACE was near the last gasp of this great style of music before Mary J Blige and "hip hop soul" (real love) kind of smashed it all to oblivion.
You got to check out "Hangin' On A String" by LOOSE ENDS and most definitely "Just The Way You Like It" by the SOS BAND ... and many more ... 😁
I was born in the early 90's and my mom used to blow her speakers out playing this joint on those Saturday morning clean up days. It takes me back to simpler times. Great reaction as always! They have a handful of hits; Closer Than Friends, You Are My Everything, I Missed, & Let's Try Again...just to name a few.
Other r&b groups to react to from the 70s/80s are The Gap Band - Party Train, Beep a Freak; Oops Upside Your Head, Humpin; Slave - Just A Touch of Love, Watching You, Slide; Champaign - Try Again; Tom Browne - Jamaica Funk; The S.O.S. Band - Just Be Good To Me, Take Your TIme (Do It Right); Midnight Star - Freak-A-Zoid; Skyy - Call Me; Atlantic Starr - If Your Heart Isn't In It, Secret Lovers, Always
This band was from the '80s and '90s. This was hit in the late '80s. Song/beat was sampled by a rapper (Kool G Rap feat Nas) a few years later in the mid '90s.
Surface also had a few others hits too. "Falling in Love" early '80, "Shower me With your Love" '89, "Closer than Friends" '89, "You are my Everything" '89, "The First Time " '90, etc. Check out those videos.
BTW, they were from New Jersey. East coast. The other band with same name, Surface from College Station, TX is a much newer modern band. 2010s/2020s. They are kind of pop and hip hop. Songs like "Sheesh" and "Sundays Best".
EAST ORANGE NJ. now my fam plays jazz...
I remember this song even if I don't remember the group that well. There were so many similar sounding groups at that time (1986) but this song was a big hit! I agree that Bruno Mars has pick up the torch for the Old School R&B sound!! He and Anderson Paak are amazing together!💖💖
R & B from the 70's is by far the best decade with artists too many to list. You need to deep dive into the 70's to have your mind blown!! 🌋🌋🌋
Wow, thanks for the throw back guys! I grew up with this music and it puts a smile on my face to stoll down memory lane with you! Stay AWESOME!❤
Since you mentioned George Benson, how about some more of him like: on broadway (cover of The Drifters and was part of the All That Jazz soundtrack [a movie you could react to]), this masquerade, the greatest love of all (the original version), love all the hurt away (duet with Aretha Franklin), turn your love around, breezin’
I think they're allergic to jazz. 😢
KEITH SWEAT - " How Deep Is Your Love ( 2007 Remaster ) " R & B original 1986 release, this song is one of the very finest in R & B Soul it's absolutely romantic and very soulful plus the Bass line is one youguys must hear. You'll love this song too for sure!
Ty for this reaction Wow bring back the remember.
Hi guys that track brings back memories of my childhood sweetheart lol
A few tracks that you might be interested in. Maze - Joy & Pain.
Maze - Before I let go.
Teddy Pendergrass - Believe In Love.
Dennis Edwards - Don't Look Any Further.
Another great track by 'Surface' is "Falling in Love".
Surface was a great group. My favorite Surface song ❤
The culture has pulled up for this one! ✊🏾❤️🖤💚
The System. Don’t Disturb This Groove. 🔥
Shower Me With Your Love is the pinnacle of their style. Love it! It's a great pick for their next song.
Haven’t heard this song, he’s got a great voice & he’s happy!👍👏👏💃🕺🏾💛💛
Good ole wedding music. Everybody and their brother was playing Surface on their wedding tracks in the 90's/early 2000's.
HELL YEAH! Quiet as kept, one of the absolute best R&B GROUPS of the era! Smooth sound, meaningful songs and great musicianship! My suggestions today would be the group, RJ'S LATEST ARRIVAL with SHACKLES ON MY FEET, 2. LOOSE ENDS with their hit, HANGING ON A STRING AND 3. STARPOINT and their hit OBJECT OF MY AFFECTION. Great Video! Great Reaction!
I've been banging away at STARPOINT and LOOSE ENDS for a while now. I think they are finally moving in that direction ;) Don't forget some SOS BAND!
They’ve reacted to “Object Of My Desire” already. ✌🏽
@@gabrielmcdonnell8699Oh really!? I missed that.
I missed it! Thanks, going to find it now!
Haven't heard this song in AGES!!! Such a smooth song. Definitely adding it onto the play list. Bernard Jackson (lead singer) has a voice that just rolls along. Absolutely fantastic.
You need to check out Pablo Cruise Whatcha Gonna Do? and Love Will Find a Way are two songs you'll LOVE!
I love PC, I heard Whatcha Gonna Do by PC while dining at Red Lobster today.
_view from the 502 just reacted to love will find a way_
Yeah I haven't heard that song in a while
The golden age of r&b was the mid to late 80's in my opinion. These songs were nothing we heard before. 'Happy' came out during a great time in my life at the age of 13.
I agree. So many great songs and artists. I feel that period often gets overlooked.
Surface: SHOWER ME WITH YOUR LOVE
Surface: THE FIRST TIME
Other Surface recommendations: Shower Me With Your Love, The First Time, Never Gonna Let You Down.
I love this 80s soul sound. Try Howard Hewitt ( From Shalamar ) - Stay ( I would call it Soul - but some call it R and B )
If you want a feet moving jam by Surface, try I Missed.
You should also check out After 7, another trio of male r&b singers, with a lot of classic tunes.
After 7 was the first cassette single I ever bought that's been a minute and yes those guys can certainly sing too
You gotta check out The System - Dont Disturb This Groove i think yall would love it!!!
Back in the day I played this cd to death along with Troop and Guy.
Yup, high sch jams. ✌🏽
Yep Let's Chill by Guy is a good one
Surface- Shower Me With Your Love. it is their 1989 mega hit.
Shower me with your love is another great song from surface
Been a long while since I've heard this jam. Great pic.
Love this group and so many great songs. ❤
Let Me Be Your Angel by Stacy Lattisaw from the 80's is also good.
The original version was made by a UK R&B group called Hi-Tension. The track was called "You Make Me Happy" (1984)
You Are My Everything, (Surface) so smooth
Great content. 80s play the SOS band. If you still care, it is a good song, but they have so many. My favorite is called just the way you like it.
For the SOS Band my favorites were "Have it Your Way" and "Sands of Time"
@Grainraiser there all good.
I have not seen any requests for tunes from the group called Troop, ie "That's My Attitude" and "Mamacita" which were considered New Jack Swing and R&B music and they also had a really nice slow cut in "Get Loose"
BERNARD, DAVID, AND DAVID CONLEY...My uncle made music for so many artists like a few of the jacksons etc. Pic plays the flute and wrote all their music. He now plays jazz and produces ❤❤❤❤❤
Journey "Feeling That Way/Anytime" These two songs are intended to play back to back. They came out in 1978 when Greg Rollie was still in the band. Steve had just joined the group, and him and Greg share the lead singers role.
Great song choice. Came out in the late 80s not long after I graduated HS. They had quite a few popular R&B hits. Happy New Year y'all :)
If you really want to hear funky check out the video for Tom Browne "Jamaica Funk" featuring the great voice of Toni Smith. Also Kleeer "Intimate Connection" if you want to hear a fiya bassline.
Wow, I thought I knew 80s R&B but I’ve never heard this! Glad to hear new (old) music with you two. So smooth!
You might want to try Peter Paul and Mary. Blowing in the wind. Vietnam protest song . Beautiful harmony.
You two have to do Loose Ends. Excellent British R&B who made a major impact over here in the United States.
This is that great R&B Baby Making music! Great blast from the past... thank you for this!! I wish you guys did more 90's R&B. Such great music!
Much love and a Happy New Year to your channel family and to your family! ❣️👍🏻
Don't really recall it, but it's very nice! And the flute is a Unique Touch! Great choice & Great Reaction! :)
Shower Me With Your Love, Closer Than Just Friends, I Missed, Can We Spend Some Time Together, The First Time, You Are My Everything, Lately, and Let's Try Again, are awesome by Surface ❤
Surface has hits. 💯🌟🔥🔥🔥
Yes this was the Jam 👍🏼🤩 ..Please check out " CLOSER THAN JUST FRIENDS " by Surface
🎉 80’s R&B! 🎉 👏🏾🖤✊🏾
Looking foward to a new year with you guys. I'll turn 70 this year and my music tastes are very eclectic. The only bad song I have heard on your channel was rock lobster.
Thank you very much for this one. Here's a couple of suggestions for Surface
Let's Try Again (1988)
Shower Me With Your Love (1989) thanks again Jay and Amber 😊
Despite being a rough cockney boy from East London this was the music I listened to.
They also did a great tune called Shower Me With Your Love.
Introduced my wife to it by having it played at our wedding.
Still got this original album on vinyl.
Y’all have to listen to Glenn Jones… “ We’ve only just begun and Show Me ( 1985 R&B )
One of my favorite songs ever. This is such a mood setter.
Love Surface. I saw them live at Disneyland on New Year’s Eve in 1989 when I was in high school
Omg, this takes me back to high school!! Y’all need to fast forward a few years and react to Tevin Campbell, Can We Talk. Its a vibe…
Thanks for this…check out Ready For The World and Timex, Social Club/Club Nouveau.
This is Soul Music!
Hey, I forgot about this one.... I remember dancing to it, My High School Class was 84 .. Watching Y'all Enjoying it Made me Smile So Thank you BOTH!
David Townsend of Surface is the son of Ed Townsend, who co-wrote Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On," and had a hit of his own in 1958 with "For Your Love." The "flute" is actually synthesizer, but the group's early dance hit "Falling in Love" (with a different singer) features flute. The singer is Bernard Jackson. I don't know if he's related to the famous Jackson family, but Surface (well, the nonsinging members) did produce an album for Jermaine; Jackie's home studio became one of their home bases after that; and Jackie's wife became a frequent songwriting partner, so who knows?
My uncle David pic conley, was apart of surface group. Bernard is NOT any relations to the jacksons. But they did write and produce tons of music for artists such as the jacksons...
I love Bruno Mars.
Luv the respect shown for classic RNB!! SURFACE is normally played at weddings if you're lucky. The music is cheesy but passionate, and the performance is skillful with a front man on stage at all times. "Can we spend some time together" is one of my favorite video/single combinations. Nightclubs would sell at the time DVD/CD singles. Happy/Can we spend some time together is mine. Enjoy?😁
OH: I remember this one!! SO SMOOOOOOTH!!! Great Pick, You-Guys!!
R&B of the mid to late 80's gets overlooked, imo. Just straight R&B. No crossover.
Yes I agree with Bruno Mars
try their big hit song
"SHOWER ME
WITH YOUR LOVE"
and
"THE FIRST TIME"
by
SURFACE.
almost forgot about
their great 1980s
music!!!!❤❤❤❤
Shower me with your love was their mega hit.
Wow. Happy. Your followers dug in the crates for this one. ❤
Didn't recall this song but others I remember by Surface are "The First Time" and "Shower Me With your Love".
This song is awesome 👍, loved dancing to it back in the day 👍
I forgot all about this song, it was on the charts for a long time but this is the first time I seen the video. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽✌🏽 P.S. keep pumping out those R&B hits🎧😎 Now Ne-Yo and Usher,, they was off the charts too with the "Club Bangers"💣💥💥 but after them its started going downhill.
Classic!❤
Ahhhh yeeeessss...The jheri curls, turtle necks & mascara era. 😌 What a time to be a music lover. Lol! My favorite song from them. ✨️🤌🏾✨️
The 80s had such incredible R&B. I remember this one for sure. Another one that I think both Jay & Amber would love is ''Hold Me Tighter in the Rain'' by Billy Griffin. Well composed, nice transitions, sung from the heart, Amber would melt.
Man I miss this kind of music I mean I know that you can listen to it any time but still the music was so much better in the 80s and 90s so simple but good
You should listen to 'I Missed' by Surface. Great uptempo song. I still have this cassette.
Another song is "Closer than Friends".
Listen to surface. Shower me with your love. Great love
Thanks!
The flute sound is not actually a flute but a synthesizer emulating the flute sound. ( still cool though )
LOVE this one. I had to chuckle when you were talkin about who'd stack up from R&B 80's vs 90's vs 2000s. I would agree, that while 2000 had some interesting groups, they paled in comparison to 80's AND 90's R&B. My all time favorite R&B was Johnny Gill (just saw him in concert, believe it or not!) but Barry White, Luther Vandross, Avant, LSG, and don't forget the boy bands.. I love that you guys are so eclectic -- I have been scrolling through your play list and you have covered a hell of a lotta bands! Love what you are doin... been binging today. Musta needed it! Sending Blessings from the PNW your way, 💛🖤💛 Stacy's Artful Heart
My first album purchase. I played this song out back in the day!
That guy name is Bernard Jackson!!!
Happy New Year 🎊🎊 Guys Thank You for what you do another suggestion 80 s group The System Don't Disturb This Groove Big Hit
Please Play - Shower With me with your love.
Wow! Didn't know they were from Texas.
Girl I’m with ya, 2000’s can’t compare to 80’s or 90’s R&B
Guys check out "Take Your TIme (Do It Right)" by The S.O.S. Band 🔥
Always loved this tune. My friends group MN8 done a great Cover of this tune, little bit more.of a New Jack Swing vibe on that one.
I used to love this song
