Lots to think on in this one. Few things I noticed. If any of this seems wrong do remember to Err is to be human and I am a Snark, so it’s a all on purpose. Micheal Talks About Stuff mentions the idea that Valyrian Dragon magic uses A Son (egg itself) a Father (The Targ) and a Holy Spirit (fire and blood Sacrifice). It’s not implausible to assume that Green magic uses a similar formula, though weather or not Warging literally requires Hereditary Spirits (such as a stark might find floating around Winterfell) or if the non magic non fire breathing animals are just a more economic investment that requires skill and genetics instead of those two and Sacrifice is kinda up in the air. Secondly, maybe Balerion is a good boy who wants to go home, sees it’s blown up, gets Dragon-fleas, claws them out of himself (to the best of his ability) and then Carries his willful but certainly lacking-in-Gym-badges trainer back to people who can do human medicine. Overcoming this infestation at his advanced age may have contributed to his demise Early in Vizzy-T’s reign. Lastly, even if Andals and Faceless Men aren’t descendants of a recent common ancestor, they do both have Iron magic. Particularly if those coins turn out to be representative of their Death-God and it’s will. After all, a Death god is categorically an Anti-immortality, anti-necromancy god. Which could be why they require their secrets to be taught to nobody, which humans have co-opted into thinking ‘ah yes you need to subsume your ego ad submit into the collective / the force / to God in order to be hollow enough to wear the part of people’s souls that other people see.
Iron and it’s ability for killing represents the cutting edge of murder-technology in the narrative. Steel is like a gun in the lenses of a martial arts movie. A cheat code that allows the unexceptional to defeat the Pseudo-supernatural. Additionally, unlike more inert metals, Steel and Iron as they are in the mideval era are themselves Temporary things. The blades in Winterfell rust away, the tools of the god of death *die* and because they die they hold greater association with death as a force.
Wait, y’all are here for ASOIAF and/or LotR content? I thought we were discussing the various club sandwiches and club sodas? It’s right there in the name!
It's pretty valid to assert that the Valyrians did make a deal with a "secret third thing" fae creature to bond themselves to the dragons. "These Asshai’i histories say that a people so ancient they had no name first tamed dragons in the Shadow and brought them to Valyria, teaching the Valyrians their arts before departing from the annals." Ancient History: The Rise of Valyria, The World of Ice and Fire. There are plenty of theories that posit those people are the Great Empire of the Dawn people or some offshoot of the Children of the Forest, but some kind of implied but unnamed volcano spirit is pretty good guess too.
OMG Meera, maybe direwolves haven't been seen south of the wall in 200 years, because Cregan Stark was killing wolves and putting iron swords on the tombs of the Stark kings. Maybe they didn't always do that. AND Lyanna didn't have a sword, so her spirit came back in the pregnant direwolf. Lyanna was just coming home.
1:01. unless the dragons ARE the fire fairies. The human sacrifice is part of the deal the Valyarians made with them - instead of eating our sheep, we will give our first born child to you so we can conquer our enemies. In the movie "Dragon-slayer", there was a deal with a dragon - we give our virgins and you don't burn our village. The dragon did not hold up on the bargain, because the lottery to choose the virgin sacrifice was rigged to keep the rich out of it. So they send for a wizard to deal with the dragon who blows him up with a magical rock.
1:58:40 there is also the possibility that Miri was one of the nurses that was at the Tower of Joy. Me and my mom were just talking about how Ned describes something about one the nurses had rose petals or something and the room smelt of blood and roses. She could have been trying to save Lyanna for some reason…. Maybe the same reason she “treated” Drogo leading to his deathy rebirth and the death of Danys son. Maybe she thought Jon was a better option…? Idk there’s some ish w Miri
There's something weird about Miri Maz Dur's ceremony. A wolf and a burning man are seen inside the tent. That seems oddly specific imagery to what's going on in Westeros. That might make a good "Why?" episode.
listening to Meera talk about the dead men of Dunharrow... cursed because they didn't show up when summoned. Wonder if the same thing will happen to the riders of Snowbourne, who did not appear when Theoden summoned them.
In and out, a quick 20 minute adventure, it’ll be great 1:29 it’s called the Nintendo Power Hotline and they were super cool that they existed but I could never convince my mom that I needed to spend the money to call it 12:15 any chance to talk about Gowron 46:35 I heard Matt Daemon not Matt Damon 48:46 this place is just lousy with dead babies 58:19 Rumpelstiltskin assed shit going on in Valyria 1:11:14 Sauron put that dawg in ‘em 1:15:38 Splurt created dragons instead of becoming dragons, interesting
The stone men were supposedly created by Rhoynar water magic while fighting the Valyrians north of Volantis. Not Valyria proper, but Valyria adjacent and certainly relevant to their history
I could have kept going but it was midnight and poor Tom was asleep in his chair. I’ll post in the Discord when this stuff gets turned into digestible video essays
Theory discussion starts at 2:23:00
You’re hilarious
(Real)
Me reading the title: "yes, okay"
Me seeing the actual length: "now hold the phone bud"
Well that is not how long that video is.
It’s close, though.

Guys the video they recorded is actually 25 minutes, it’s just slowed way down for us to sound like normal speech 👌🏻
I love it when the title of the video is 100% accurate lmao
I am spending Valentine's Day with the one I love the most, George RR Martin. And we are having a lovely time not writing books!
Nothing like an Interesting Nerd Club video. Straight to the point, clear and concise coverage of one specific topic
I'm personally wounded. That's too funny for me to be mad about.
@@InterestingNerdClub I joke, I joke. I live for the tinfoil and tangents, you guys are some of my favorite theory crafters because of it ❤️
Wait, y’all are here for ASOIAF and/or LotR content? I thought we were discussing the various club sandwiches and club sodas? It’s right there in the name!
We would discuss it with you on discord don’t worry
Tom has the most infectious laugh :D

I don't know how you guys always do this to me, but I always take the title at face value until I've been listening for like an hour and a half
Interesting the tiamat discussion made me think about her pact with asmodius that lets her reside in avernus
This also works with Michael talks about stuffs theory that the house of the undying is basically a vacation home for the others
Perhaps this hypothetical dragon God thing has a houses in the fused black stone structures and that is where unknowingly fire magic is drawn from
Tight 25, tight 25. Tight 2-25.
I'm Meera Reads.
No I am Meera Reads
I am Meera Reads
Gonna finish up my paper after this quick 25 minute break

They mentioned a Scott Peterson fishing trip 4 times in this video.
Oh shit I was mentioned. I'm also a fan of mul, thank you Tom.

Need a “Tom says YEAH!!!!” super cut
1:32:57 Are you suggesting the Children purposely triggered Hardhome to get enough obsidian to fight the Others?
I think they had an existing mine in the volcano under Hardhome

Felt more like 15
"25 minutes" I went for a walk in the woods and I felt BAD that I wasn't walking long... WELL, it's now 1h in so I guess I'm fine
listening to Meera talk about the dead men of Dunharrow... cursed because they didn't show up when summoned. Wonder if the same thing will happen to the riders of Snowbourne, who did not appear when Theoden summoned them.
Well at least I don't feel as old with you guys.
😂😂😂well galadriel almost slept with sauron apparently so gimli must have a chance at least
In and out, a quick 20 minute adventure, it’ll be great
1:29 it’s called the Nintendo Power Hotline and they were super cool that they existed but I could never convince my mom that I needed to spend the money to call it
12:15 any chance to talk about Gowron
46:35 I heard Matt Daemon not Matt Damon
48:46 this place is just lousy with dead babies
58:19 Rumpelstiltskin assed shit going on in Valyria
1:11:14 Sauron put that dawg in ‘em
1:15:38 Splurt created dragons instead of becoming dragons, interesting
So the targs worship King ghidorah who they'll summon to fight Eurons godzilla?
2:23:00 and glidus plays the horse
2:15:50 I just hit the bong, and that blew my mind clean off my shoulders
1:20:00 the stone men are in part of the ryone
Them being in Valyria was show only
The stone men were supposedly created by Rhoynar water magic while fighting the Valyrians north of Volantis. Not Valyria proper, but Valyria adjacent and certainly relevant to their history
I thoughts this video was 25 minutes when i saw it.
Morgoth did what to a dragon?
Glidmapedes! 🐴🐙
2 hours is entirely to short of a video
I could have kept going but it was midnight and poor Tom was asleep in his chair. I’ll post in the Discord when this stuff gets turned into digestible video essays
why does the title say 25 minutes 🤔
It’s a recurring joke on this channel 😜
It’s always supposed to take 25 minutes and almost never does
