I just wish adults knew that younger children aren’t for picking on. When they get insults at such a young age, those insults stick to them. That art teacher sounds absolutely horrible.
Brynn Makes Slime I couldn’t agree more. Wth do they think they doin talking to a child like that?? smh. They’ll remember that and think they’re all the things people say.
There are the teachers that are genuinely caring and love their class (or classes). But then there’s the teacher who cares nothing about the kids and just wants the money. I’m wondering how on Earth artists get terrible art teachers most of the time. I have a wonderful art teacher. Anyways, some teachers are just idiots who don’t know how to handle children and just want the money. If you were going to become a teacher, you’re obviously going to deal with kids for crying out loud, so don’t expect them to be perfect.
When i was uber young, i stole polly pocket shoes from my best friend a few times.. for no reason!! I only had bratz dolls. Now I'm 24 and cringe everytime i think about it.
It BOTHERS my guts SO much when adults are unfair to children. Arrrgh, I believe everyone no matter the age, deserves respect and validation. I’m a teacher myself and I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that some teachers are this unkind.... beautiful art btw, I wish I could draw other than a stickman.
I remember when I was in kindergarten, one of our little art assignments was to draw ourselves. So that’s what I did. I did a pretty crappy 5 year old drawing of a head and face and my favourite clothes. And then I coloured in the hair: pink and blue and purple, my favourite colours. My teacher got extremely mad at me and made me start over because “you’re hair isn’t coloured, that isn’t a drawing of you, do it right!” (She yelled this in front of the entire class, by the way) Instead of remaking it I cried and cried and cried until the end of the day when I told my mom what happened and she told that teacher exactly what she thought of her ridiculous fit over my drawing. Turns out that as a teen I have died my hair pink, and blue and purple- and red and green and blond and black too. So fuck you Charleen, I do have coloured hair.
Cocoa's Animations yeah it’s child abuse and I hate child abusers, they make me talk like Dexter and I hate violence... I just wish I could get them all fired and issue them a restraining order against them for every kid in the world.
I have scrolled and reading comments for a solid 10-20mins seeing if someone had the same reaction as me to this phrase, I find her to be hilarious as well as an amazing artist
i was always told that i wasn't good at art by art teachers but one time i remember in 4th grade we were told to pick out a picture from a national geographic to try to draw as accurately as possible on our own, and the paper we were given was the exact same size as the nat geo pictures so i started to just trace mine because i was tired of trying to please my art teacher. a popular girl at my table thought it was a good idea too so she traced hers as well. for some reason the teacher busted me and i had to sit out at recess and the other girl was praised for being so accurate and had her piece in put an art show. art education needs help
Lost Hound I had a slight idea but they came out wrong. I didn’t learn to tie my shoelaces til I was 12 I got sneaky and convinced my parents to keep buying Velcro sneakers
Our art teacher is like “don’t draw so cartoony!” “Draw more realistic!” So u drew more realistic and he was like “don’t just draw what’s there put some cartoony- ness into it!” Like that was the whole time I had him.
i had this one really nice teacher when i was 7 that was like: i love how you draw so cartoony i was so happy that ive been basically free-hand drawing my whole life, and yeah my art looks bad sometimes but isnt it more fun drawing it the way you like?
I agree with all of you haha but yeah it sucked and I’m sorry to everyone who can relate and I’m happy for the people that can’t I hope you all get nice art teachers one day
You know, the funny thing is that my high school art teacher loved anime. But what she told me was you need to learn the rules to break them, since all forms of stylized art are based on realism. She was also the best because we would talk Sailor moon during lunch and that was THE FUCKING BEST!
@@finnfunko3293 Thank you so much, I actually have a few more planned but haven't gotten around to polish and then film them. It might take me a bit longer because life keeps getting in the way :-)
And here I am, conquering the style of “*ponytail that looks good from the front but looks like when you take a 99 cent store Halloween spider web and just form a ball with it from the back*” what has quarantine done to me :,D
I remember middle school where my art teachers would harp down and belittle anime or anything like it. I 2as so worried about high school because hell if the art teachers in middle school were hard, my ass was grass in high school. I was so shocked seeing my art teacher being a comic book, anime loving guy who supports the style and tries to help others improve positively-while bringing needed sass.
I think when it comes to anime and manga, unless it's a specific class assignment like life drawing or something, I think you should let kids draw anime. It gives them drawing practice. I'd maybe push them to work on studying anime artists with good art styles, like Junji Ito.
It's because a lot of anime and cartoons are actual artists style. And by drawing it youre not developing your own style. But if you draw it as a child and keep drawing it, *obviously* youre gonna start to develop your own style.
Am I the only one who thinks that some teachers tend to really pick on introverted kids? Edit: I realize that I made it seem like I think that extroverts don't have these problems. I know this doesn't only apply to introverts but some teachers just really insist that the quiet kids be more loud
And have a favorite-"talented" kid to compare them, when in reality all kids just have different skills (Definitely not proyecting my traumas here lol)
I hate that extroverts, especially extreme extroverts, do their damnedest to convince you that there's something wrong with you. Until you detonate and eviscerate them as only a quiet, watchful, introvert can. Then they think you're an asshole.
I'm like... One of the most introverted kids in my class So... Most teachers don't even listen to me when I'm trying to talk The only teachers that likes me are English math and science teacher I'm actually a pretty smart person but bc I'm an introvert teachers *do not like me* at all IDK why but... I wish it could change
In my city the students don't want to learn to read, learn math, or do anything but play on their phones. They do not want to act White is what Ive been told at the local store. Everyone is going to be a NBA star, a singer, or a drug dealer or a gang member (Many are in the Mexican Mafia or Blood Killers). It's sad, because when they are kids are young many seem to have potential. The teachers are cussed at and threatened on a daily basis even at the elementary schools. Its sad that taxpayers pay for this. Some thugs broke my friend's Prismacolors. There were over 150 that she bought with her own money! Others have trashed out her art books, art paper, and artwork. Uncivilized.
@@ratherbfishing455 I don't think they know what "acting white" is... no one seems to make up their mind. one girl thought allowing her self to learn was acting white which is sad as fuck, and another told me I can't go to college because I'm too stupid and to stop acting black... so one kid thinks being black means you're an idiot and the other thinks its making smart choices like higher education.... those kids need to get a grip on themselves, and stop bringing themselves and others down. this is why they need more teachers because some idiot or asshole is telling them they can't reach any potential so don't even try. So its just proving racist bullshit you hear on faux news more and more. oh an uncivilized jealous thugs exsist in middleclass neighborhood schools. I had the majority of my bullies there and sketchbooks stolen.
I was like this and im only 14 but a teacher that i was planning to shoot up the school in 3rd grade so i just stop caring what teachers think of me but i still tend to do this
My daughter came home from elementary school several times crying her eyes out. Every time it was due to her art teacher yelling at her in front of the class. My kid is a terrific artist, she's won awards in our county for both art and literature...she knows her art masters, can tell you all about how Monet and Manet are different. But this teacher hated her, i guess. First yelling was because they were doing clay models, and the clay dried on my kid's hands, itching, and she went to rinse off mid class. I mean...wtf. The other times were for even lamer offenses, such as clean up time...my kid was done too soon!?! Eventually, i stepped in and took my kid in with me for a chat. This woman seizes the opportunity to start yelling at my kid in front of me making her cry all over again. Let me tell you you have never seen a principal move so fast when I started yelling in this teacher's face. Of course there was nearly nobody else in the building oh, I would never have done this in front of other children. But the principal backed me up, bless his heart, because obviously she'd had a lot of complaints.
That teacher is just frustrated with her life and probably takes it out on your kid. A bully. I've seen it so many times in school they would scream at one specific kid that didn't actually do anything.
My art class room is on the second floor of my building and there is a railing and a balcony and this happened a lot but one day when our assignment was to draw three animals morphed eg. a horse head a hedgehogs body and a scorpions tail. So when I drew this I chose a unicorn head, a dragon body and a Phoenix tail, I was about 11 and I showed it to my teacher pretty proudly because I only started getting really into art a year before and that was (what I thought) one of my best pieces of art I had ever done so I showed her it and she yelled at me in front of the entire class saying that I’m horrible at art and I didn’t follow the guide lines that they were meant to be real animals not fantasy and she proceeded to walk out on the balcony and she threw my piece of art and all my supplies over the balcony (this was not rare) she would also throw other students shoes and stationary off the balcony but I still remember it today because that piece of art got placed number one at the fair (I even won $50)
@@kayleeswarts3918 oh gosh, I find that completely inappropriate, I hope she was fired. What is trash in on person's eyes is inspiring and amazing to another. Art is especially important in this way. Keep drawing!
Lwest, Thankyou I am glad that that didn’t let me stop drawing and doing what I love, I am not the best artist but I hope to continue to get better. Also the teacher I spoke about ‘coincidently left the school because she ‘found a better job’ and the current art teacher is way better and she actually loves art and encourages us.

I'm in grade 12 right now and my art teacher is so positive and is all for people drawing differently and having there own styles. She'll give us basic guidelines and let us go on from there. She really helped my art skill progress and I love her so much
I had this art teacher in freshman year and she had us all paint Me:hey I have no idea how to do this Teacher:I don't know how I can help you with that UM???DO YOU YOUR JOB AND TEACH ME???
my teacher is super understanding about art styles too! the one reason we don’t draw much of our own stuff is because we always have projects, which i’m perfectly fine with ^v^
My art teacher doesn’t have a problem with anime. He actually likes it when I draw it, because if we are doing other assignments it’s all semi realistic or realistic art, bc we mainly do figures and portraits. He just tells me to branch out from those two things, which I think is great :)
"Art teachers don't seem to like anime." My art teacher " you like anime. Cool I love anime here you go this is a list of anime's I liked when I was a kid."
My art teacher caught me drawing anime on a piece of paper one day. He asked me if I was drawing anime, and of course I said yeah. Then he just started talking about fairy tail and I just stat there like a potato
This one time when I was in 5th grade, we had something called a blue Jay buck show when it was like a ticket draw, you get called up in the announcement and get a reward. So one day, on the bluejay buck show, my teacher was the one who called out the kids and had no one to watch the class so she brought us up. When all the kids come in, they grab stuff off of the prize table and leave and at the time I was wearing a big floofy jacket with deep pockets and a pencil fell down onto the floor. A kid next to me went, ----- put this in your pocket. I did and after I got sent to the principle's office so did the other kid. I explained everything and the principal sent the other kid back and not me. He said "I know you are lying when you say he told you to do it because he is crying and you are not... " This screwed me up because I would've cried but WHY SHOULD I?! that kid was all ways a bitch any ways
Wait hold the actual fucking fuck up... Because you weren't crying...?. B R O. If I were you he'd be the one crying But like seriously, everyone can fake some tears. Especially kids. But like I am pissed off like what kinda logic is that I am concerned about how the fuck did he became a principal like does he have common sense? Brain cells? An IQ higher than 14?
I hear ya. I had a teacher in the 4th grade who hated my guts for no reason. I never had any problem with a teacher before or after her, most of them liked me because I was generally a good kid. This hag, however, thought it was her mission in life to find any reason to scream at me. Every. Single. Day. I would be sitting in class, minding my own business, doing my work like everyone else, and out of nowhere the banshee would be released and a torrent of verbal tongue lashings would spew forth like pea soup. It was so bad that my class mates would go home and tell their parents about it and how I didn't do anything wrong. One day after being berated for something that I never even did, (there were several witnesses) this teacher yelled at me "I'm going to call your mother and she'll know how to deal with you". I was terrified to go home that day and burst into tears as soon as I walked in my house. I told my mom what happened, and she was pissed. Not at me though, at the teacher. My dad went to the principal to see if we could switch my teacher and he refused to do so saying "If I let one kid do that, then everyone will want to change teachers". Yeah. Great. Needless to say I spent my entire 4th grade year being verbally abused by a psychopath of a teacher because the principal was a douche. Sorry for the long story, its just nice to know I wasn't the only one singled out as a kid.
Right next to people who talk in the theater! (Had to make the firefly reff sorry) But seriously I agree. What's even going through their heads when they do that sort of thing?

Lady Phoenix I once had a lecturer named Karen, and she was really “Karen”. Then I found out how they call that woman “Karen” on Reddit and now I get goosebumps every time I see or hear the name.
those who can - do. those who cannot - teach. not always a true saying, obviously, but the theory I have is these sort of angry teachers that try to do their best to crush their student's spirit, do so out of, well.. jealousy. they tend to see that the student has potential that they never had and will probably go farther than they ever could and it just.. pisses them off.
My High School art teacher loved me, because I was (and still am) into really realistic oil portraits, and that pleased her. My best friend however, was into more animation type stuff and drawing cartoonish things, which I loved, but our art teacher didn't like it, because it wasn't her type of style. She always criticized my friend, and she once tried to criticize me too, but I was able to just shake it off. My friend is a sweet little cinnamon roll, and it really hurt her, she almost didn't go study art because if this teacher. I am so glad she did, her art is amazing, and she's improving every day, and I feel like a proud mama hen😂😂
Not to make a snap judgement here, but was your friend doing the material? As a teacher's aid a lot of the time when someone claims the art teacher hates them is because they did none of the material and instead poorly drew anime when they were supposed to be learning proportions and how to shade a ball and how to use various mediums and it isn't because they were drawing anime or something. Usually the art teacher doesn't give a flying fig if you draw anime on like a free day or something, it's because they are drawing anime when they have to be drawing something else.
My teacher when i asked her if it's okay to draw anime-style in art class in grade 5: "Well, I have to give you grades based on your pictures and I am worried about me not giving you the grades you deserve because I dont understand the artstyle. It's easier for me to grade realistic pictures, but if you feel more confident with that, draw anime!" I drew anime and basically got an A
I had an art teacher in high school who told me he'd give me 60% on one of my first painting in his class because "you can't fail someone for trying" he also like to throw things at students. He was a genius and I learned a ton but it was rough 3 years
as a future art teacher: ANIME IS IMPORTANT. it makes kids want to draw and teaches them how to draw exaggerated features which, can be fun later down the road.
Well and beyond that, anime (well cartoons and fanart in general) have helped me improve on different body types, heights, pushed me to improve character development, and storytelling through my art (what can I add to this character that visually gives the viewer some backstory or more information about them).
@North Nightingale I have practiced realism, I did it for many years in various art schools/classes. Also when I did anime, I usually added a background that had some perspective in it. All I'm saying is that I felt way more drive to improve and work on various aspects of drawing during that part of my life because of anime. Classical realism is good to know but it has made me feel very restricted several times throughout my art journey when that's all I can work in. While I haven't drawn anime in over a decade, I still think its important and shouldn't be overlooked as it drastically improved my art.
And then when they refuse to do the material because they were drawing anime poorly because they didn't listen when they were supposed to be learning proportions and how to shade a ball?
Anime was my GATEWAY into art. I encourage kids I see that start in anime to keep drawing if that's what they want to do. I do point out that the best way to improve would be to keep practicing and even venture to try drawing and painting some more realistic stuff from time to time because it's a great way to learn new techniques which you can then turn toward making your anime/manga art more unique.
@@wordforger I will personally disagree. A lot of the time when a student goes into an art class they expect to be able to just do what they want to and not actually learn shit, which leads them to not listening to the teachers instructions and just doing whatever, leading them to fail and not improve. Or worse, they get a Cris Heart How To Draw Anime/Manga book.
Emily: Art teachers don’t like anime The male art teacher at my school: [the biggest nerd/geek/weeb you will *ever* meet] The female art teacher at my school: runs the god damm anime club
Art is Art. If it is creative it is Art. If it’s drawing it is Art. Is it animating it is Art. It is Performing a play it is Art. Is it sport no that’s not art
I so agree with the positivity in art sentiment. I work in an art school for kids and it absolutely makes their day when you compliment them. At that time, one little mean comment can completely turn off a kid to art, and the world needs more artists!
NONE of what that woman did, was ok. Why would you give punishments, to small children, at SUMMER CAMP!? It's supposed to be FUN! Why were you even graded!? I think that woman just wanted to be a teacher, but wasn't good enough at one of the prereq's and settled for this. She very obviously is just in it to boss people around, who are smaller than them. Had I had her, in my circle of friends, she would have the nickname "art nazi." I'm still reeling a little. Edit: typos
My grade 4 teacher was like this she made me feel so small and stupid all the time and she always ignored it when the other kids in class bullied me even though they got so bold that they'd do it right in front of her. I still get panicky when I see her around town even though it was years ago now. It got so bad that I was so terrified to get up in class to go to the bathroom, I'd get tripped, kicked and called names on my way, that I peed my pants a few times which didn't help my self esteem and obviously made the bullying worse, no one wants to be friends with the kid who pisses her pants. I also got bladder infections a lot from trying to hold it for so long. I just don't know what's wrong with teachers who treat children in this way they must be so broken and dead inside.
My teachers I used to have back in elementary school would ignore the fact that everyone has been bullying me by saying mean things... the teachers knew and my mom knew... Even the principal knew... my bus driver knew too... my bus driver would yell at students for literally pulling out their pencil and doing their homework on the bus(she would yell at students for talking to someone in another seat too).. my bus driver yelled at me for just holding a bottle of perfume and letting my friends smell it... (I was letting them smell it to see if they liked it)... My mom hated her mainly because she was rude, hateful, and should not have been a bus driver because when she gets mad she instantly cussed.. My bus rides were always kinda hard to deal with after being bullied at school... we even had assigned seats on the bus which made it worse because I was near people who have said bad things about me more than once... the only teacher I liked was my art teacher and I always had a great time in her class.. it has been about 5 years since and I still have the art pencils she had given me.. My art teacher actually cared enough to tell people to stop when saying anything mean about anyone... after 4th grade I had moved schools and I have never been bullied since... (my mom got the bus driver fired)
@@izoraiza7169 I'm really sorry I know how hard it is when the adults around you stand by well your being bullied, it always made me feel like I must not matter if no one was willing to step in. I'm glad you're in a better school now and that bus driver is fired! I try to understand now that I'm an adult that sometimes teachers are overwhelmed and just don't know what to do, especially with the huge class sizes they have to deal with, but I still struggle to forgive the teachers who joined in on the bulling and just seemed like terrible sadistic people who enjoyed making kids feel awful. How a person even gets so broken that they bully/shout at children is beyond me, makes me feel almost sad for them.

Reminds me of when I was in middle school, had this teacher who was really young and pretty and my little girl heart just wanted to be liked by her. Turns out she was a favoritist who very clearly liked the popular kids (Of which I was not) and hated me and this other boy for literally no reason other than the fact that we weren't popular. It was in English too, I love English, I love writing and reading, but I also like drawing (It would help me manage my anxiety) One day we were going to be taking notes, I didn't like writing on the desk, I would rather write on something that was angled towards me so I took out my sketch book to use as a little table so I could write the notes. Didn't even have it open and the paper was clearly on top of it. Before I could even know what was going on she snatched it out from under my paper, flipped through it, obviously disgusted, then kept it on her desk. She wouldn't give it back to me until the end of class when she told me that if she ever saw it again she would throw it away. Broke my heart. The other boy she hated, once, went to get a tissue to blow his nose, you know, like you do, threw it in the trash next to her desk at which point she flipped shit, told him that was HER trashcan, and forced him to dig it out of the trash to throw in the other trashcan. Bitch was crazy. She's one of the reasons when I started teaching, I would let all my kids know that I loved them, no matter how crazy they drove me. I would never do anything like that. I hope she got fired.

@@marikimaris1878 I'm a teacher, also a human, an adult, a wife, an artist, someone who enjoys writing, video games, and watching drama on youtube. It's a little secret that teachers cuss, a lot of times at school when little ears aren't around, sometimes about the owners of those little ears. This might shatter your view on teachers, but we do have lives outside of school and can filter ourselves in front of our kiddos. Teachers are people, man, and with that we get all the flaws that people have. On another note, don't just respect someone because they're a teacher. The story above and the one in the video that teachers, as people, don't deserve respect just because they're teachers. Teachers have to show respect to their kiddos, otherwise why would they expect respect to just be given to them? That sounds like a narcissist to me. What absolutely bizarre behaviour. I've had similar teachers. I have social anxiety, and it was several times worse when I was a child. My mother explained this to my homeroom teacher, and the first thing she does is get mad and scold me infront of the entire class because I was too shy to shake her hand... Literally 10 seconds after my mother talked to her. Like my mother was still standing IN THE DOORWAY. I've also had a sewing teacher wrench my arm and scream at me because I complained that I wasn't getting any help... After I'd kept my hand raised for 2 lessons straight. Another teacher snapped at me for drawing, took away my notebook, then SCOLDED ME FOR NOT TAKING NOTES. When I reminded her she'd taken my notebook (was I supposed to write on the bench? like c'mon bitch), she slapped it down on the desk and told me to never draw again. Like what the fuck is wrong with some people.
Thysillia I know right, it’s screwed up how jocks, cheerleaders and other sports people get a pass in everything when it comes to doodling but when it comes to an artist it’s like NO, DRAWING IS A SIN
Idk why there are so many f’ed up people working with kids! It’s ridiculous! When you’re a kid it’s just confusing and scary, and once you grow up it’s just hard to imagine how ADULTS could treat a little 7 yr old kid like that. Like MAN WTF
Ugh.... she sounds like my art teacher. My art teacher and I have ALMOST no problems since I'm a goody two shoes, but one time we had to draw an animal (I chose a really detailed pony) and I took a long time to finish, and so when we had to go because the bus was ready to leave, and I ALWAYS ride the bus (And she was fully aware!) she stops me and I think she wants me to make sure that I cleaned where I was working and just normal things, but she says she needs to speak with me. So I say "Hey, I need to go! The bus is here but I can talk to you tomorrow." and she says it's urgent. So assuming it's important I sit down, and I'm paraphrasing but this is how I remember what she said. "You took too long to finish yours, you're the only one who didn't finish your animal, and we need them done. You ARE going to sit here until you finish this animal and if the bus leaves I guess your parents will have to pick you up." I chuckle thinking it's a joke, and she stares at me with a straight face. "You're.... joking right?" "Nope." I freaked out a bit so for about 10 seconds it was just awkward silence, but then I tell her about how I have an important doctors appointment to go to, and I NEED to go, and this bitch tells me, "Should've gotten it done then." My friend comes in and says, "Amber... the bus is waiting for us!" I look at my art teacher and then run out. It happened about three months ago but she STILL uses it against me.
I feel like suing her is just pointless now because it's been a while. Though I considered asking my mother if it was something I should do, though I never told her it happened.
My apologies for how she treated you, ive had a similar experience and the memories still comes back to crush me. I am glad to see that you kept on going to become who you are today. Your art is amazing by the way
There was this program in my elementary school where three or four students would go with a retired art teacher to learn art and help decorate the school. The parents were told that every child would get to do this at least once a year. I never got to go. The teachers said it was because I was gone so often they didn't want to schedule me, even though another kid ended up sick for a month and they let him just join the next group. I was also told that I shouldn't feel bad because it's not like I was good at art anyway. Now I am perfectly happy doing my crappy doodles and slowly improving. Who needs teachers when the internet exists.
I ended up having a break down after I finished university because my self esteem was so low, you know after spending years being told by teachers that I was good but not good enough (at least that's how I took it even if they didn't mean it that way, depression sucks!) Thankfully I found good friends and got treatment. I'm still working on shutting up my inner perfectionist but I'm way better now. Now I can do stupid doodles without shame. But seriously though looking back I have no idea how I pulled through without medication and counseling, it's amazing how much of a difference there is
Nat , I can slowly relate to that. Not that my art teachers brought me down. But hell I was even really depressed one day during school, and my English teacher comes out of nowhere basically saying something like this , "I don't know why you're being uncooperative, but you really need to grow up and do your work." Yeah you may say it's not that bad. But for a kid with a really low self esteem, it hurt me a lot and I nearly started crying. (Kinda wish I did huh) It was embarrassing since it's like she came for me for no reason when I was doodling so I could calm myself down. I had many MANY issues after that with my depression. Close to self harm and even suicide. I've been actually making up ways that I can do to stop myself from doing these things. I grew, and I got better at art and still today am improving. Yeah I still have my days where I want to leave and see no hope for the future. But It would suck not to grow up and not have any children of my own. I am actually surprised. On how I coped with death, divorce, and even my depression and low self esteem. Anyways sorry for the 'sad' story, feel as if I had to say something to take it off my mind.
7 year old girl just want to clean stuff for candy Becky: I'm going to ruin this kids whole career Me: geez person it's just a kid ,also IT'S JUST A 7 YEAR OLD GIRL
I’m so glad that throughout all of my art classes (elementary, middle, and high school) I had the same art teacher who gave nothing but support, and just let kids be creative.
My art teacher had us draw a still life with oil pastels . I spent about a week of my free time and class time to work on mine. 2 days before the deadline another girl asked me to do hers. I agreed . I spent 2 days of class time on hers. When the teacher graded our work the other girl got more than I did yet I drew it for her. I spent a lot less time on hers and hers had less detail . I BASICALLY PUT MY SOUL ON A PIECE OF PAPER IN THE FORM OF A STILL LIFE BUT THAT SOMEHOW IS WORSE THAN A RANDOM ASSORTMENT OF POTS I DREW. 😡
You almost always draw it better the second time because you learned something from the first time. Next time you decide to help someone cheat on their art assignments, remember that.
Just dont do others work anymore. I have a few friends that do that and complain to me about it and it's like, just let them do it themselves like what???
Why did you draw another girl’s. I mean you must have a lot of talent but it was kind of stupid of u to do her homework for her. Not hating, just saying.
I don't understand people who choose to work with children when they obviously know they shouldn't lol I remember being in like third or fourth grade, and my art teacher gave us the assignment of we had to draw a portrait of someone in our life, and paint them using 2 contrasting colors (like exact opposites on the color wheel), but the colors were supposed to symbolize or evoke an emotion we associate with that person. So I had decided to paint my mom, but I wasn't sure what colors to use. I asked the teacher what colors did she think I should use to symbolize loving and caring. She told me to use blue and pink, I asked "even though they aren't opposites on the color wheel?" Because we were supposed to use a color and it's exact opposite on the color wheel. She told me, yes it's fine. So I paint this picture, and I'm all excited and proud of it, and then we have to present it to the class and explain our color choice. I volunteered to go first because in my head, how could anything be wrong with it. I hold up my painting and start explaining it and she starts tearing into me about how I didn't follow the assignment properly, pink and blue aren't opposites, if I used blue then the other color should've been orange, or pink and green. I just kind of blurted out in the middle of her speech and said "well you told me to use these colors and that it was okay." she kind paused for a minute and said "I'll give you extra credit though for being brave and going first." and then threw my picture away at the end of class so I couldn't give it to my mom. I have so many stories I can tell about this woman and the many years I had to have her as a teacher.
damn you need to tell them. it happened to me 2 in my last year of highschool X'D it wasn't that dramatic but sometimes teachers just contradict themselves for no reason XD
OOF DO I FRICKIN KNOW THAT PAINNNNN You should totally tell some more if you're up for it. My entire 4th grade experience is basically horrible teacher stories. We had a year-long scrapbook assignment based on the state we lived in (not saying which for privacy) and we were given coloring sheets for the official state plants and animals and a 64-box of crayons. She was SOOOOO PARTICULAR about how these were colored- she would count off if they looked grainy even though crayons are supposed to look like that. Our assignment was to color the Cardinal. I had messed up the first sheet, and we were only allowed one extra sheet. When I got home, I realized I was missing my RED crayon. Having to improvise, I had to color it with my red violet one, figuring it was the next closest thing. I spent HOURS on this thing going over the lines in color and putting layer upon layer on this c o l o r i n g s h e e t. The next week, it was graded. Yes, the coloring S H E E T S were GRADED. She would hang up all the ones that got an A on the back wall, usually with no comment. But she got to mine, turned to the class, and said, "Now I'm not going to name names," she said, holding direct eye contact with me for an extended period of time, with the rest of the class turning to face me, "but this person should have gotten a B. This Cardinal is PINK. We all know that Cardinals are RED because we aren't idiots." She said something else but at that point I was choking back sobs while the rest of the class was laughing at her open mockery of me. She dod plenty of other stuff, but she's the reason I didn't color my art for almost 4 years. Jokes on her, I'm going to one of the best art colleges in the nation now. Heard that she FINALLY retired this year.
Ughhhh, that pisses me off. I hate when people contradict themselves only to act like total assholes. If I had the balls, I would have been like, "Well, at least you managed to choose foundation on the opposite fucking side of the color wheel from your skin tone, bitch." Man, I usually don't cuss this much, but these stories make me so angry lol.
Wonder if "Becky" saw this video and was like, "Ohhhh, that's the girl who I really disliked when she was 7." And then seeing her art was like, "That was a huge mistake disliking her when she was 7."
I was just scrolling through RUclips trying to find something to listen to so I could work on commissions and I got this notification and got so hype!!!! I love listening to you talk while I draw and I adore your story times. Your video on your pregnancy and how your son had to be left in the hospital touched me personally because my son had breathing complications when he was born and I had to leave him for two days so hearing how hard it was for you makes me feel like I wasn't the only one broken and in pieces. Thank you Emily! You mean the world to me!!
Sock Buddy clearly Becky hasn’t heard of young boys with little sisters that can’t braid but the brother can braid- I’m not even a girl and I could braid pretty young
All my art teachers loved me Except the 11-12 grade. She was new and was horrible. The only good thing was the pet lizard. I missed the last art teacher. She was nice. She got fired for being in drugs or alcohol. But she was cool. (Not because of the drugs)
I have loved art my entire life but around 3rd-4th grade I had a teacher who was obsessed with horses so we all had to draw horses a lot but I can’t draw horses to save my life, even still, and she told me that my art isn’t good enough for her class and that I needed to learn to draw horses better, I never got better and so my self esteem was shot so I didn’t take another art class or draw really anything until 8th grade and even now I still struggle with confidence about my art although I do draw more than I used to
What do you mean "that the boys were doing"? mayb I don't know much about summer camp or something but who the HELL separates an ART CLASS by GENDER?? ART HAS A BINARY NOW?????
The 90’s was a different time y’all. I was in elementary school in the 80’s and the teachers still said us girls would probably be homemakers etc and not to worry too much about classes we weren’t that great in (ie math, science etc.)
I'm in a art highschool and my teacher let the boys do whatever they want, like if they don't want to draw or paint in that day it's fine, but if the girls don't want to draw or paint he's just yelling and start to insult us. For like a month the boys did nothing and still get pass grades but us girl are working and he's judge everything we do. Also, sorry for mistakes, I'm not a native speaker. :))
Summer camps are usually separated by gender, so my summer camp separates the boys from rhe girls for activities- but at the end of the day we all do the same thing but in different groups. I would've been pissed if I couldn't do pottery.
"Every little girl knows how to braid" Hold on- Was she saying... seven years olds should know how to braid? I'M THIRTEEN AND I STILL DON'T KNOW HOW TO BRAID!
Aye when I was 12 years old, my art teacher teared my art work into shreds after calling the attention of the whole class, all the while calling it worth less than shit smeared on paper. I wrote my experience on a piece of paper which is to be stuck on the bulletin board on Teacher's Day. She basically outed herself & almost got fired by making a scene about it in the classroom the next day while The Principal was by the door witnessing it upon the request of me & my friend. She had to make a public apology with the whole school present with & a presentation slides of my art piece put back together & what I wrote as she explained the shameful act she did. So I guess she played herself, congratulations muthafucker!! Edit : I hope her retribution got some that angst out everytime you feel down.
God. Damn. I had an actual teacher like this! Short temper and held grudges, gave me strange punishments, and made up lies so she could punish me as well. Adults who feel threatened by 9 year olds shouldn't be teachers. 🙄
Elliot haskins same thing happened to me when I was in 4th grade and moved to a different school I was actually very good at drawing for a 9 year old cuz my dad would teach me in his spare time but the teacher didn’t like that I was better at drawing than the other kids in the class and would give me F’s on my assignments because “I didn’t do the assignment properly”
My art teacher also hated me. I've got a feeling it's because I was more interested in drawing dragons, knight's and cars rather than study the masters.
Most people start drawing to express that they like sonething. For the last 2 generations it's been cartoons/manga. Most people gradually try to improve the quality, then go on to mix things and eventually mix things so much they begin to be original. I understand why teachers don't like to see anime, they can't tell if it's a carbon copy of a frame or if it's a new idea. *However* instead of straight up saying it sucks because of the art style, why not correct things that are wonky about the drawing and encourage the kid to try a new comic style. Something that's new but not too far out of the comfort zone, so that they can gradually move to other things. I don't understand why the thing that makes the child want to draw has to be demonized in this way. I get it. You don't want another Holly. But come the fuck on.
Each of my art teachers said the true reasons they don't like anime is that 1. it isn't a good example to practice human anatomy since a lot of traits can be exaggerated, 2. to them, anime/manga style is too simple compared to for example the Disney 2d artstyle. Once you know how to do lines and curves you can easily draw an anime character 3. some anime/manga expressions involve exaggerated, but lazy ways to show an emotion instead of showing facial muscles doing the movement in order to create a specific expression, thus a specific emotion. the 4th reason is of course that they don't like the anime tropes and aren't the kind of person that want to dig deeper
@@rand0md00d3 Which are valid arguments to make against drawing in the style, my point was simply that there's a right and a wrong way to try and get students to evolve from manga. I wasn't trying to say that it's great and kids should draw it. Edit; also id argue that Disney characters aren't more difficult to draw than anime characters, depending on which Disney character and anime style you're comparing it's actually easier.
@@MissNiyuu ...I mean kids should draw it if they feel like it, it's just a drawing, not the end of the world XD and don't worry I wasn't implying anything at all just sharing infos on what art teachers told me. I agree with ya that Disney characters can be easier to draw depending on the character. Though for me their statement is true since I'm able to draw Persona characters pretty easily and quickly but can't draw Cinderella or Belle under 2 hours X'D
The whole reason I got back into art during my teenage years after losing my spark was to create fan art for the things I love, I am working on portraits and hoping to make a career out of them but we all have to start somewhere and without fanart idk if I would have gotten back into drawing. Beautiful anime’s are always such a huge inspiration even though I’m more realistic in my style, just soundtracks and overall themes of the story can create such wonderful images.
*I'm gonna apologise right off the bat and say prepare for a long ass paragraph because I felt the need to share my own story, for some reason.* Listening to this story reminds me of an art teacher that i had for a few years in high school. Granted, I was 16, 17, and 18, and not 7 when this was happening, but my teacher all but completely broke me. I was doing my A level art course and it constantly felt like nothing I ever did was good enough. she would always say that I wasn't doing enough work, or I was getting distracted, or I wasn't trying hard enough (which towards the end of the course, I wasn't. I'd pretty much lost my passion at this point and everything I was doing was the bare minimum). She would constantly shit on my work, even when I had put my best effort in and I was really proud of my work (which was not often, let me tell ya). She was literally a terrible teacher. She couldn't do her job right because I never actually learned anything (even when I listened and watched like a freakin hawk) and when she would try to explain a task to me and I misunderstood, she wouldn't even make an effort to try to explain it to me in a different way. She would literally just rephrase what she was saying over and over. Now, this isn't me making excuses, but I'm Autistic which means my brain works differently to most people and if I don't get something that you're trying to explain to me, you have to explain it in a different way if you want to have any hope of me understanding it (so, using an anecdote/example would make it easier). Because of this, she caused me to have a full on mental break down in the middle of class because she was trying to explain something to me and she kept rephrasing it and I tried telling her that I didn't understand and no matter how many times she rephrased it, that wasn't going to do shit for me. I tried to tell her that she had to give me some kind of example or something for me to get it and eventually she made me understand, but not after I'd cried a river of tears right in front of her. And the worst part is, she had dyslexia which in itself is not the issue, but she tried to compare that to my autism, insinuating that she knew how to handle me because she could put herself in my shoes. Bitch! No you fucking can't! Dyslexia and Autism are two *completely different things*. Granted, autism can come with learning difficulties and some people who are on the spectrum are also dyslexic, but I'm not and I had no idea what it felt like for her, so how on earth would she know what I went through on a daily basis? I honestly hated her and the feeling was apparently mutual, even if she never explicitly said it. I knew I was her least favourite student in that class. ...and, after all that, I failed the course and got the lowest grade possible, which I swear she did just to spite me. Anyway, needless to say, I was so glad to be done with that course and that bitch of a teacher, even though I came out of it with a shit grade. Anyone who thinks I'll ever do that again has got another thing coming, I swear.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. My music teacher in high school sh- all over me every moment she got a chance. She told me I would never have a future in music. But I went on to get a college degree in music and be a music teacher, so take that Brenda!
I too got a shitty teacher in high school who was homophobic and on the top of that, demanded that we ( teen students) should buy the most fucking expensive art supplies in store and then to add insult to injury, she criticized my work and some of my other colleagues too simply because we were not her favourite ass licking golden girls. I remember that shortly after, I requested transference to a different art course in a different school in another town, and voilà!! I got an art teacher that actually appreciated my work and gave me proper decent grades. You see, I conclude that art grades are pretty subjective to the teacher's opinion and taste. So, just because an art "teacher" gives you shitty grades does not mean that a different art "teacher" won't give you a much better grade for the exact same work. It really is super subjective. Of course that, then there are other courses within the art world that are way more technical like architecture or designing machine parts or restoration of hundreds of years old painting, in which case these are not very subjective because they must be safe and functional first.
Hearing stories like this is so disheartening cause I know as a young child you wouldn’t tell your parents and a lot of young kids don’t as either and these teachers keep their careers for years cause this stuff goes unchecked
A past art teacher of mine wasn’t this bad, but she crushed my art sprit for awhile. When we had a free art day, and I decided to draw some patterns along some calligraphy art, she said it wasn’t art. She would constantly compare my art (and the class’s sometimes) to her daughter’s, deeming her work as the “right” way. She was all about originality and shit, but all our art projects consisted of coping the same landscape we do every year with some crappy way to use oil pastels. If we differed in any way to the piece we were suppose to copy, she’ll call it bad. My mom once told her to take it easy with us kids, and she proceeded to give me a lecture about how she never said my art was bad. She had a bad understanding of anatomy, she literally said when drawing a face, put the eyes in the forehead. After summer, when I joined my current art teacher’s classes outside of school, I improved massively, and she then proceeded to act all goody with me for awhile. It didn’t last long, and she kept criticizing in ways that weren’t helpful. When I was done with my art project she assigned, and proceeded to do my own piece to kill time with my markers, she said markers make pieces “look bad”, and I should of used colored pencils. It wasn’t of her damn business to say that to a piece that doesn’t concern her, and to shit on an entire medium. Just cause you never used markers sweetie, doesn’t change the fact that there are millions of great marker art works. After, she proceeded to exclude me from art projects for the art kids in class, and I think it was pretty clear I was one of them. Anyways, I am glad she’s no longer my teacher, and I have been blessed with an great art teacher who’ll give me constructive criticism, and give me some sort of artist freedom while giving her opinion on what will make it better.
There's two types of art teachers: The marvelous unicorn that LOVES seeing kids flourish and pushes them to improve without crushing them. And Becky, the common troll who is probably using art education as a plan B, is a huge art snob, and generally shouldn't be around children due to their talent for destroying souls, aspirations, and even ripping up the occasional artwork in front of students. I know a lot of people quit art because of Becky.
My 1st grade teacher wasn't just mean, she was a BAD teacher. She did many bad things to me, probably the most bad thing she did to me every day was keep me in for recess A LOT. Almost everyday in fact. The reason I cry too much is because I have a special case causing me to cry a lot more than normal people. I'm in 5th grade now and I still cry too much. Anyways, everyday before recess my 1st grade teacher (her name was literally Ms. Recker) would make me stay in my seat and I couldn't line up. FOR NOTHING SHE DID THAT!!! Just to make me cry so I couldn't go to recess any day. She also once said ''Your crying is RIDICULOUS! I am taking your lunchbox and you are NOT getting it back!'' She took it out of my hands before lunch and I went hungry the whole day. At the end of the day I would always carry my lunchbox in my hands, not in my backpack. However when my grandpa saw me he said ''What's wrong? Where is your lunchbox?'' I said ''My teacher took it and she is keeping it forever!!!'' After I said that my grandpa said. ''No she is not keeping it forever we are getting it back, I'll leave a note to tell her that I took it back.'' I told my grandpa I would get in trouble for that and he said I wouldn't get in trouble for that. He got it back and wrote on the white board the exact words: ''I have gotten your student's lunchbox back because she needs it for tomorrow -Her grandpa'' The next day I was TERRIFIED to see my teacher again, she immediately grabbed me and pulled me in the hall and said ''THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. YOU ARE GETTING A DETENTION FOR STEALING SCHOOL PROPERTY'' I didn't actually get a detention but that was just RIDICULOUS, I mean seriously? It was MY lunchbox, not hers. Then she says it was school property??? REALLY STUPID TEACHER!? Another time we had to take a math test, I finished but we still had lots of time. When we were done we were supposed to do NOTHING, not even read. I thought Ms. Recker would be proud of me if I drew a picture on the back of my paper. So I did and I was just about to write ''Best teacher ever'' but I only wrote ''Best t'' before she came over and said ''WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? I SAID JUST DO NOTHING! AGAIN, BEING A BAD STUDENT!!!'' She then threw my paper in the trash. The next day she handed out the tests and said ''WHERE IS YOUR PAPER?! YOU NEVER GAVE IT TO ME!'' I was too scared to remind her that she threw it away, she probably remembered she threw it away anyways. Then she said ''OH THIS MUST BE YOURS. HERE YOU GO.'' I saw her type in the grades and she gave me an F for behavior and an F for the fake math test she gave me that was not even mine. If this comment gets likes I might as well edit it and say more bad things she did. BY THE WAY I have moved from the school that has this teacher.
Prisbluejay AJ Pretty sure everything she did there is illegal. I'm not sure how old you are or where you live, but if you can get any parent or guardian to sue them over stealing property and purposefully changing grades, do it. I had such awful teachers in elementary school my parents sued over the many illegal actions they did. They won. The school continued with their actions so we moved. The things my music teacher Ms. Gollub (yes, that's her name. The name describes her perfectly) did to me were so cruel my Psycologist and Therapist both said that she had effected me mentally and socially, so bad that she had caused me to develop numerous social, mood and personality disorders. According the the tests they did after I matured, I retained the same problems and disorders that they had diagnosed me with years before. So if your teacher is really effecting you that much, ask yourself these questions; Is she scaring you? Are you afraid to interact with her? Are you unhappy in school because of her? Is she hurting you emotionally, mentally, or socially? If you answered yes to any of those, I advise you to take action ASAP. Have someone contact the school district and write a complaint. Do anything you can to make yourself comfortable in your school environment.
Fuuuck !! Are sure your father or mother or anyone who raised you didn't knowed her from somewere. Maybe they were friends or crush in school and then broke up pretty bad or something and she get knowed you were his/her daugther
I'm an art teacher .. I like oriental animation. I like anything that kids are exited to draw. What I find difficult is kids that put one line on a paper then crumple it up and toss it crying they are so bad at art. So with those kids I let them have news print. And encourage a tutorial to use . This is a good story. It is so important to remember how words wound people. And some times even an energy can reflect a feeling. Good lesson.
I agree who the oof do they think they think they are?

I remember when I was in kindergarten, one of our little art assignments was to draw ourselves. So that’s what I did. I did a pretty crappy 5 year old drawing of a head and face and my favourite clothes. And then I coloured in the hair: pink and blue and purple, my favourite colours. My teacher got extremely mad at me and made me start over because “you’re hair isn’t coloured, that isn’t a drawing of you, do it right!” (She yelled this in front of the entire class, by the way)
Instead of remaking it I cried and cried and cried until the end of the day when I told my mom what happened and she told that teacher exactly what she thought of her ridiculous fit over my drawing. Turns out that as a teen I have died my hair pink, and blue and purple- and red and green and blond and black too. So fuck you Charleen, I do have coloured hair.

I DONT KNOW HOW TO DRAW ANIME
It's because a lot of anime and cartoons are actual artists style. And by drawing it youre not developing your own style. But if you draw it as a child and keep drawing it, *obviously* youre gonna start to develop your own style.
I might not draw anime but I got a huge variety of FANDOMS

My High School art teacher loved me, because I was (and still am) into really realistic oil portraits, and that pleased her. Ann9a R ohhh wow. I'm really glad your friend kept studying art!

What a horrible teacher. Obviously some power-hunger in the way she teaches. You can't control everything children do
as a future art teacher: ANIME IS IMPORTANT. it makes kids want to draw and teaches them how to draw exaggerated features which, can be fun later down the road.

That kind of person shouldn't be accepted in any kind of educational environment, really. Specially with small children

I kone you wrote this a while ago but I really want to give young you a hug😥💜

Who needs teachers when the internet exists.
your teachers seem like unsupportive !@#$%^&*(!@#$%^&*(P!@#$%^&*()_!@#$%^&*()s.
Nat that’s totally not going to destroy someone’s self esteem...
I’m being sarcastic btw

Catherine Korff well at least this proves that u are hella talented
You almost always draw it better the second time because you learned something from the first time. Next time you decide to help someone cheat on their art assignments, remember that.
Just dont do others work anymore. I have a few friends that do that and complain to me about it and it's like, just let them do it themselves like what???
Shouldn't have done it then.
Why did you draw another girl’s. I mean you must have a lot of talent but it was kind of stupid of u to do her homework for her. Not hating, just saying.
I don't understand people who choose to work with children when they obviously know they shouldn't lol
I remember being in like third or fourth grade, and my art teacher gave us the assignment of we had to draw a portrait of someone in our life, and paint them using 2 contrasting colors (like exact opposites on the color wheel), but the colors were supposed to symbolize or evoke an emotion we associate with that person.
OOF DO I FRICKIN KNOW THAT PAINNNNN
You should totally tell some more if you're up for it.
If I had the balls, I would have been like, "Well, at least you managed to choose foundation on the opposite fucking side of the color wheel from your skin tone, bitch."
Man, I usually don't cuss this much, but these stories make me so angry lol.

God. Damn. I had an actual teacher like this! Short temper and held grudges, gave me strange punishments, and made up lies so she could punish me as well. Adults who feel threatened by 9 year olds shouldn't be teachers. 🙄

that's a relatable mood

*I'm gonna apologise right off the bat and say prepare for a long ass paragraph because I felt the need to share my own story, for some reason.*
Listening to this story reminds me of an art teacher that i had for a few years in high school.
There's two types of art teachers:
The marvelous unicorn that LOVES seeing kids flourish and pushes them to improve without crushing them.
And Becky, the common troll who is probably using art education as a plan B, is a huge art snob, and generally shouldn't be around children due to their talent for destroying souls, aspirations, and even ripping up the occasional artwork in front of students. I know a lot of people quit art because of Becky.
So Hagrid the Saint and and Snape the Troll?
Ms Inkypunk, I’m glad most of my teachers were the unicorn type but (outside of art) I’ve had a few Becky (s)
My art teacher is somewhere in the middle
You need to talk to your school about that. That is absolutely wrong and she could get sued over that.
Holy crap! Almost all of what she did was/is illegal. Stealing from a student, faking grades. Holy crap. I feel really bad for you.
Woah... a first grade teacher? I hope you have gotten over that experience now 😊
That's why she was an art teacher, bc she was creative with her punishments. xD
Ugh
Starlightful lol
BADUM. TISSSSSSSS!
...
Lol
I'm an art teacher .. I like oriental animation. I like anything that kids are exited to draw. What I find difficult is kids that put one line on a paper then crumple it up and toss it crying they are so bad at art. So with those kids I let them have news print. And encourage a tutorial to use .
This is a good story. It is so important to remember how words wound people. And some times even an energy can reflect a feeling. Good lesson.
