  • Bringing together the first three Model Railway Layout series "Add Lights to YOUR Model Railway Layouts", this culmination of efforts has brought life and detail to my Hornby / Metcalfe Models setup!
The process works the same in 00 Gauge, HO Gauge, or TT:120. 3 volts is 3 volts!
If you're nervous about basic electronics, watch this mini-series for the full process!

Thank You for uploading this and showing the step by step.
Makes it a lot less daunting.
Makes me feel a lot better tackling the wiring on my layout.
    Thank You

You're absolutely welcome! I jave to admit the thought is a little daunting, but if you start with a very simple lighting circuit loop and build from there then it's patience and taking your time.
Hey... thanks for engaging! Much appreciated! 🙂👍🏻

The lights I added are really bright, is there a way to tone them down?

There are a couple of ways, but it will be a little more "electronic".
Have a look at epiaodea 2 and 3 of the series tosee how the voltage regulator is wired up. You could use that to tone it all down a bit.
Other options are resistors in line, but that is definitepy heading more down the soldering route
