Officer 2: "Nah. There's no way they'll know where we set up our roadblocks."
Does that mean there's a store selling radios tapped into the police's frequencies? You'd think after so much games and movies about street racing they'd find a way to encrypt chatters better.
The police chatter here is probably the most realistic that I have heard in the entire Need for Speed franchise. Correct me if I'm wrong!

No need for speed most wanted and Carbon which reused some of most wanted's chatter is the most realistic

The police chatter here is more realistic than Most Wanted because the chatter in Most Wanted only starts when we do something that results in a 911 call. Otherwise it's pretty much quiet. Here you can hear the cops attending to other duties and talking normally and talking to each other, which makes it more realistic.
Even though MW/Carbon still gave the player a scanner, I wonder if the immersion might make even more sense in UC since the player is a cop in that game, unlike MW05 (where people THINK you're a cop, where in reality you've just been buddy-buddy with one this whole time).
It'd be cool if there was an option to listen to the police chatter as if it were a radio
It's not easy to hear more than one at a time unfortunately, since they're used to alert the player of incoming cops if they aren't moving

Black Box worked on Skate, so it checks out. Now if only EA didn't force them to develop Skate, ProStreet, and Undercover in that short a timeframe.
I wish more need for speed games had radio scanners like this with an option to listen to them. It gets pretty boring only listening to them during pursuits.

It could be a reference on Jude's bugatti (1 of 3 AIs who drives a Veyron in the carrer races), since his car is lime+black (other 2 bugattis are dark blue + black (Mizz Heming) and full black (Timay)) , or on Veyron from the "Lightspeed" Hijacking mission.

15:05 Need for speed undercover needs to have a police patrol carrer mode to chase street racers in free roam, to help civilization, do some tasks and missions, etc.
The PS2/Wii version has something like that, you unlock cop cars on the carrer mode to takedown racers

this game has the best police chatter in the franchise. mw 2005 and carbon and the run are the second best
It's honestly such a cool detail to be able to hear radio chatter of the police responding to other calls, since you are an Undercover cop yourself

Man i never actually took the time to listen to some of these, I had no idea that there were so many different lines of dialogue in this game. Definitely showcasing that they wanted to make it bigger than what it actually turned out to be.
Love how it contributes to the worldbuilding of UC, adds to the immersion of being an undercover cop yourself.
Looking at the concept art for Undercover makes me depressed over how far the final game fell from their original vision.
Obviously it wasn't gonna look like this, it's just concept art. Not even models. It looks close.
Looks like NFS Rivals now that i think about it.
It's really depressing seeing it not going to be what they envisioned and is doomed to be the "Worst nfs game" in the franchise.

It (and still) a good game
In fact it's for me the same level of carbon and most wanted level of favorable to me
I honestly think people didn't like it was because of the missing feature or uncompleted ones that other NFS games had (including the story)
But I seriously do think it would have been in much better state and more positive opinion on it from other NFS fans if it did have enough time to develop
In that period were new consoles were coming out, EA had split up black box in half to adapt into the development of new consoles as well in that time, game devs were complaining about the complexity of the ps3 CPU
And to add to what pressure black box had
They literally worked on about 5 games during pro street and undercover
I seriously don't how they even did it in frist place but sadly the fail of undercover (because of short time development and not luck of talent) and few years later when NFS the run failed to hit it's targeted sales, they got shutdown in 2013
And I honestly sad about it because they did and worked on the things that fans really and truly loved about the series but the short time developed is what made their later games a underwhelming, despite the fact that they are man and legends behind the most sold games in the hole series

Apart from the janky controls which made you lose control over your car and the graphics, i enjoyed nfs undercover. I liked the mechanic where the cops can dissasemble the roadblock when you pass it. It's a unique mechanic.
That was a nice improvement over MW05, having roadblock cops join the pursuit instead of solely being static.

While the game was rushed, at least the chatter from Most Wanted and Carbon has been expanded which is nice. Too bad a portion of it got cut down in World.

Isn't the location of Undercover based off of Miami? Or Florida in general? Lol that makes me wanna see these put into Heat in the background for the daytime, considering our character has a police scanner, plus these are really realistic. Even tho in heat they use Q codes.
It looks like both Heat and Undercover are based on Florida and Georgia
Undercover is inspired by Miami but I think they were going for a purpusefully "dream" like looking city, I dunno, Tri City Bay always looked kind of uncanny to me, this was even more visible in concept art.

the photos make NFS Undercover look so good, when in reality it looks like a PS2 game.
An EARLY PS2 game.
That was actually their artwork. The creators of the game wanted to make it look like you are in the future. However ended up with lots of unfinished parts of map and streets. Even with these negative sides it is nowadays considered as one of the most beautiful Nfs games in the series

I received those files from rcgldr after asking about the police scanner in a forum
I know sometimes the dispatcher says what vehicle is The Player (Undercover cop) driving, wouldn't it be obvious that he is driving a real car and that every other car except The Player's car, the other street racers and the police are fictional cars? ( The police only has two real vehicles which is the Nissan GTR and the Porsche 911 Turbo)
The cops are technically driving real cars as well, mainly for the low level cars they are Ford.
The traffic is taken from Burnout Paradise.

Yeah, especially when in MW they mention something every 5 - 10 mins or so. 🤨 Undercover did it at completely random intervals, making it much more realistic.
