    Dave I just wanted to drop a quick line saying that your video was spot on! Lol, I've had this Park Zone for a couple years and has worked wonderful every time! During the years I've had to replace batteries several times and every time I forget how to calibrate it! Dave discovering your video on how to install as well as the calibration was a great find cause yes once again I forgot how to calibrate the darn thing! Have a great day Dave and once again ''Thanks'' !!!.....Vince Pennington.

    The problem that I have with it is that it's not very reliable. It works fine when it wants to but sometimes does not go on like it should. I have tried adjusting the height and position of the sensors, but it does not seem to help too much. Is the new one PZ-1900 more reliable ?

    • @DaveMedicus
      @DaveMedicus  6 лет назад

      I noticed that if you have boxes or items around the sensor it will sometimes not work properly. If this is the case try to move the items away from the sensor to see if it improves your device.

  • @krisalbright713

    Dave,
    Thanks for the video. It is very well done!!
    I'm having problems and was wondering if your expertise could help. I installed with no problems. The problems encountered are with setting the distance. I have set the desired distance. When I test by driving into the garage the warning lights don't turn on. I actually pulled within inches of the garage wall and finally the red light came on. I reversed and all the lights started flashing. I've attempted this numerous times with various "light flashing" results but now at the set distance. I finally turned it off, removed the batteries and tried again with the same results.
    This product seems to get good comments, and your video is very clear, so I'm thinking it must be something I've done or a faulty product. Any help you can offer would be most appreciated.
    Bill

    • @DaveMedicus
      @DaveMedicus  7 лет назад

      Thanks for watching Bill. I will be asking a lot of questions which might seem like common sense so just use them as a check list.
      Is the sensor at bumper level? If not you could be getting bad readings or no readings at all.
      When you set the distance are you pulling in your vehicle to the desired location before you calibrate it? If not then the object will different which could yield to bad results.
      Are your batteries good? Sometimes when the batteries are going bad the lights will be flashing.
      Are there other objects which could be in front of the sensor giving it false readings? Remove everything from the area and try to recalibrate it.
      I hope that this helps. Let me know what your results were so that I could further help you if it doesn't work.

    • @krisalbright713
      @krisalbright713 7 лет назад

      Thanks for responding, Dave. Below are the answers to your questions:
      1) The sensor is at bumper level. Actually it's in alignment with the front license plate.
      2) Yes. The vehicle is placed at the desired location prior to calibrating.
      3) Batteries are brand new. Duracell with a 10 year life.
      4) No objects are in front of, or in close proximity of the sensor.
      One question I do have is it appeared in your video that to calibrate you pressed and released the on/ off switch. Is that correct or do you press and hold? After "press and release" didn't work I tried the "press and hold".
      Again, thanks much for your help.

    • @DaveMedicus
      @DaveMedicus  7 лет назад

      Bill Albright you might have a defective one. All I did was hit the power button. Any time you turn it off it will recalibrate when you turn it back on.

    Wonder why Garage Door Opener Companies, Like Gene haven't marketed a device which utilizes Light Beam, which is already there( to stop door, when blocked)...It could just send signal, once vehicle clears..and activate a strobe to signal driver..More simply, I just use a visual reference point on wall, referenced to a given point in car's interior. and even then, sometimes have to get back in car and move a few inches...Damn

    • @DaveMedicus
      @DaveMedicus  6 лет назад

      I really do not know why they do not have a setup that works. Its probably has to do with the fact that each garage is different.

  • @JayHallett

    Excellent video, Dave. I've had one of these for over a year and MOSTLY I love it... I do find I have to recalibrate it from time to time, and doing that always seems to be hit and miss -- in fact, right now I can't get it to work. The instruction manual is pretty bad, it never tells you exactly what light sequence to expect... I noticed that in your video, a successful calibration went red-yellow-green-slow yellow-slow red then off... I can't get mine to do that, it either does only slow yellow or slow red at the end, never both. Brand new batteries. Any ideas would be very welcomed!!

    • @DaveMedicus
      @DaveMedicus  7 лет назад

      What is your distance. You might be too close. Also there might be something interfering with the sensor. Someone below said that this doesn't work closer than 18 inches. I normally just pull my car where I want it and then turn it off then back on. I also have to recalibrate it about once a month. Mine is quick. Normally I will just pull in turn it of and then back on and just walk into the house.

    • @JayHallett
      @JayHallett 7 лет назад

      Dave, the car is about 28 inches from the wall. It worked for over a year and suddenly doesn't work; I've tried a dozen recalibration attempts. When calibrating, the light always blinks red x 4, yellow x 4, green x 4... then sometimes blinks twice yellow then twice red... other times just yellow, other times just red, twice tonight it even kept blinking back and forth between red and yellow! I just wish there were some instructions somewhere as to what sequence one should expect and what it means when there's no yellow in the sequence. or no red, or or or...!!! The manufacturers website has no FAQ, no troubleshooting help ... just a manual and a phone number... guess I'll try the phone number next!

    • @DaveMedicus

      Codi Francisco no. I would not use this outside exposed to the weather. If it’s a covered carport I think you will be fine as long as it’s not fully exposed to water.

    I have a cord from the ceiling with a piece of plastic (some use small rubber ball or tennis ball), that touches the windshield of the car when I have reached the spot. Cost: under $1.

    • @DaveMedicus
      @DaveMedicus  5 лет назад

      Keleb Gadol that only works if you only use your garage to park. I use mine for projects all of the time. I would just rip that out of the ceiling after I hit it a few times.

      I think my son would act like “Rocky Balboa” and use the hanging ball like a punching bag. That is if no car was parked. But I do other things in the garage so it would just be in the way.

      Why are you having to "reset the sensor maybe every 2 months"? Was just wondering. I bought the Stryker brand yesterday, so I will be trying it our. I need 2 more for the other 2 bays of the garage. I might consider this one and compare them to each other. Good video, BTW. ;)

Yes, for my husband and me we both have the electrical adapter, not even sure if it has a battery compartment. My park zone has been acting up, and keeps flashing between red and green. I have tried to reset it, and it doesn't want to recalibrate, it turns red way before I am at the correct spot. Haha the camera angles and the wood on the left make it look way worse than it actually is. I used a level to make a straight line and then just put the paper over it. Yes it is about a quarter inch over because I drilled fast and the bit kicked right of center. Everything else with the angle of the camera and and wood does make it look worse.
