  • Australia’s largest coal-fired power station will be closing in just three years’ time - leaving the country susceptible to an “unmitigated mess,” according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“Eliminating coal - which today is still almost 70 per cent of our power generation - without alternative baseload power is an act of economic self-harm,” Ms Credlin said.

This is madness. We will all be living in motorhomes with solar and batteries.

Educate the Government on what "base load" is, because they clearly have no idea.

If coal is so bad then stop selling overseas.

Energy supply, in fact all essential services, should never have been handed over to the private sector. That was yet another Keating "innovation".

One thing everyone overlooks is where is electricity going to come from if these huge coal-fired plants are shutdown. For example, I live in Florida and we have this seasonal problem called hurricanes. There are a several huge coal-fired plants, but the fuel of choice is natural gas. One of the first things they do when a hurricane is headed toward Florida and shutdown the natural gas generators and cutoff the natural gas pipelines running down the length of Florida. This means the vast majority of electricity in Florida is then being made by based loaded coal-fired power plants around the state. Without the coal-fired plants, Florida would be sitting in the dark before the hurricane even strikes Florida and would remain that way during the entire duration of the storm.

It appears we Aussie's aren't as smart as we used to be, and we are going to have to feel some real pain in this area to learn the lesson. By the time the majority realise they've been duped power will be unaffordable that is when you can get it. Then it will take us at least a decade to recover, that's if we are still a sovereign nation by then

Well if you haven't noticed the last 2 years Australian leaders do not make very good decisions and they certainly do not think of the people they represent when they make these horrible decisions and this my friends is proof if that.

If it is so damn profitable, the Governments/ Australian people should own the power stations so we can't be held to ransom by anyone.
