I can think of two 한자어 that you didn't include, 차지하다 and 수용하다! 차지하다 used in this sense means to "hold", "occupy" or "possess" some position or spot. For example: 민주당원들은 300명의 국회의원에서 174개의 자리를 차지하고 있다. Democratic party members hold 174 of the 300 seats of the National Assembly. 수용하다 can mean "hold" in the sense of "accommodate" like a vehicle or room. For example: 그 비상 대피소는 4,000 명의 사람들을 수용할 수 있다. That emergency shelter can hold 4,000 people.
Hi Billy ! Can you have a check that did i understood these words meaning correctly or not? • 저는 제 가방을 들고 있었어요 I was holding my bag • 나는 네 꺼를 생일 선물을 가져 I have your birthday gift • 나는 너를 잡을 거야 I will catch you • 저는 제 폰을 쥐고 있었어요 I wad holding my phone • 저는 엄마를 안고 있었어요 I was holding my mom • 고야이가 1 마리 쥐를 물고 있어요 The cat is holding /carrying a mice in her mouth • 저 애는 이 애의 책들을 받치고 있어 He is holding her books up ( i can't make a sentence further I'm not at that level now) • 저는 슬픔이 가슴에 품어요 . I have sadness /sorrow in my heart Do you think i got the concept? Can you tell me when a learner reaches an intermidiate learning stage ? How will i get to know it?
Interesting video. It was really helpful. I couldn't think of anything other than 잡다 at first, but then I realised that I was only focusing on the direct translation of the word. I should probably consider learning words this way. Thank you Billy! Great observations 👍
Wow what a scary coincidence, I just wrote a long paragraph in Korean and needed to say "he was holding a box full of ducklings" and then realized I didn't actually know how to say hold/carry so I was looking that up.. why are you stalking me Billy 😂 jk thanks for the video!
yes! including what's going on inside the mouth and how it differs from English s and sh, cos I'm confused (and yeah, I already understand when to pronounce ㅅ like s-ish and like sh-ish). There seems to be a difference between Korean S and SS pronunciation and English S and SS pronunciation but I can't get it
@@eundongpark1672 I think ㅅ + 이makes a "sh" sound. But I don't know what sound ㅆ + 이 does. It might be a "s" sound, but i guess it's softer than a "s" in english
I recommend avoiding English translations 1:1 for that reason, since the two verbs have different meanings. Here's an example of how you can find them: ruclips.net/video/xgU63S6TsKM/видео.html
Yes, I explain in the video that 잡다 can be used for grabbing things with your hand, so it can also be used for holding glass in your hand while cleaning it :)
@@GoBillyKorean Just wanted to be sure since there are a billion verbs in Korean. It occurred to me, would that be "holding" or would it be "steadying" (which given my beginner level knowledge, could be a different verb). Thanks!
for some reason i found mr. billy's erasing of the board transitions quite endearing
Yep... Totally agree. Haha
same. 귀엽네

random but I like the addition of the elevator music in the background, idk it's so relaxing and puts you in a better mood 😂
Gracias Billy, tus videos me sirven mucho para practicar mi Inglés y no olvidarlo al mismo tiempo que estudio coreano. Mil Gracias Buddy!

What about 메다- to carry over your shoulder or
업다 - to carry on one’s back
Then there’s hang, which can be 얹다, 매달리다, or 걸다.
I have an episode about how to say "to wear" but it'll be a couple of months before I can upload it :D
Me: 받치다? Never heard of that.
Billy: You already know 받치다 from 받침.
Me: Mind. blown.
Super helpful actually, ty!
Ok this is the kind of video I didn't know I needed
Very very interesting! Thank you as always 빌리 선생님

빌리, 오랜만이에요. 그간 좀 바빠서 ..
오늘도 좋은 수업 감사합니다. ㅎ

jk thanks for the video!
Found motivation to learn Korean again. 🥰 Thanks Billy!
빌리 선생님 is having fun in Korea...😁😸
Such an useful content...Thanks! 🙃 But I'm still stuck on 들다...
Can I say: "박스를 들어 도와줄게요!" ? Like, "I'll help you lift the box!"???
도와주다 means "to help," and isn't attached onto verbs. You may be thinking of 주다, or 드리다, which can attach onto verbs.
Wow thanks for ur all videos l am learning korean from u and its 👏amazing
Billy, what is the difference between ㅆand ㅅ , when it comes to pronunciation?
I'd love if you could do a video about this

Hey billy ! I have a question, why did you start learning Korean ? Thank you so much :D
Here's a video I made about that: ruclips.net/video/sHhm7sAfn1o/видео.html

new video drop nice
Very random but this random person on ig told my korean is rubbish, and that my grammar is so bad and i feel so dishearted to continue :(

좋은 비디오예요. 감사합니다.
Question... would you use 잡다 to say that you held the glass while cleaning it?
Yes, I explain in the video that 잡다 can be used for grabbing things with your hand, so it can also be used for holding glass in your hand while cleaning it :)

What if you want to tell someone to hold something politely. 들다 +시다
That wouldn't be used. Because as a command, it'd be more common to use it with the ~주다 form.

우와~ 한국말 엄청 어렵네요. 한국 부산에 사는 40대 아줌마 왔다갑니다. 물론 저는 한국인입니다.
When I'm speaking in Korean my voice gets lower than my normal voice and when I'm speaking in Japanese my voice is increasing.
I counted 8 ways in this video, not 9. Did I miss something? 😅 beginner here
It's a typo. Thanks, I'll fix it.
