Why make such a big deal about this Professor's opinions? Are we Chabadniks so precious that we need to get offended and argue with anyone who doesn't like the Rebbe? Are we this insecure? Aren't we above all this? If we truly believe the Rebbe is the Nosi Hador etc then we don't need to worry about anyone's misguided criticisms. Don't we have big enough shoulders to stand on that enbables us to simply ignore instead of getting offended and giving such critics bigger platforms?

Unfortunately Chabadniks (which I am one of but not in the same insecure company) exhibit a tremendous insecurity and are too easily offended. One of the great benefits of providence putting me through the Litvisher Yeshivah system is the thick skin that I learned to grow early on in my life.

The people who have a problem with " Messianism" usually have a lot of skeletons in their personal religious life which manifests as guilt and projection on those who don't stray from their roots.
