I spray lubed my huntsman mini. It works perfectly, the reason why I spray lubed is because you can’t take apart razer optical switches and the clack was too loud.
Thank you for your dedication and research! I will share this and how to fix video links to my spray lubing videos! Your intro, way of explanation, even the song are awesome :3
I wish i see this video sooner , i lubed my keyboard with some non branded oil from the local keyboard shop near me and just like in this video it was messy and right away unresponsive on the spacebar and 3 more keys. Then i went out and get something that just like bw100 and it sure did fix it
🤣 Thank You! I am so happy to see someone with a viewership say this💪🏾 I haven’t ever done this, just the thought of doing this made me cringe. I only hand lube🤙🏾
I can't wait to watch this. My spray lubed G613 and RK61 are okay so far. I will happily (albeit carefully) spray lube any keyboard that doesn't have hot swappable switches. Edit: Whoa, my super lube bottle doesn't click clack. No wonder I haven't had any problems!
This video actually thought me a lot more about spray lubing than i needed to know xD. its interesting how a fake formula turns out better for the keyboard scene. With that in mind i’m gonna unlink the spray lube amazon link from my video to prevent any further broken boards! Thanks for doing the research for the community man this video is bomb
I once spray lubed my keyboard. Immediately after setting down the board to dry, I heard a banging on my door... KNOCK KNOCK I turned my head to the origin of the sound. To my surprise, the door that I had closed moments before was agape. How did I not hear my door opening? Its signature creak could probably even bring a hibernating bear out of its slumber. I paced cautiously to my door and peered outside. The dark hallway was empty. I wasn't sure if I was anxious or relieved. Perhaps the knock was in my head. I leaned against the right side of the door frame, bracing the wet hinge. Wet? Why was my door... WET? A slippery clear residue dripped down the side of my door frame. In disgust I flicked the fluid off my hands... Did someone lube my door hinges? I shut my door as I reentered my room. The door glided silently shut... Is that why I didn't hear it opening? My thoughts were left unanswered as the lights in my house all blinked off... Blackouts were unusual this time of the year, but not completely unheard of. Across the street, I could see my neighbors lights still on. I grabbed a nearby flashlight, flicked it on, and made my way to the circuit breaker box. The light barely pierced the deep shadows of the garage. The circuit breaker box was... oozing... pulsating. The same clear fluid pattered out of the edges of the box into a growing puddle on the floor. The strange fluid must have damaged the electronics within the breaker box, causing the blackout. I hesitated for a moment, but found the resolve within myself to pry further. I pulled the sleeve of my sweater over my fingertips and gripped the metal door. Gallons of the clear fluid poured out of the breaker box, saturating my sweater, splashing onto the floor. Out of surprise, I took a step back, unwittingly putting half my weight into the expanding puddle. My legs flew forward, and my head flew back, striking the cold concrete of the garage floor. I awoke to a droplet of the ichor striking my forehead. My eyes drifted up to the rafters. Two large eyes glared back down towards me through the darkness. A long grey cylindrical body stretched between the rafters. Two muscular arms stemmed from the demon's torso, fists planted on what I assumed were its hips. It smiled. It drooled.
WD - 40 brand make a silicon lube here in Australia, still risky with hydrocarbon propellants but it saved a cheap Drevo when I used too much dielectric grease.
Not gonna lie, when the channel was text only with a toy hippo I only watched a couple vids if they ended up in my recommendations. Thought it was too much like :3ildcat. Now that you're putting more and more personality into the vids and refining your craft, I watch them all. Good work, it does not go unnoticed.
If anyone is still considering spray lubing after watching this video, here's a much safer way to do it: Spray a bunch of that superlube into a container. Get a pippete dropper, the disposable ones will do. Apply one drop and then mash the switch to work it around the spring. Apply more as required but in my experience one is all you need, two is too much, three is ruined. Let it sit there for an hour or two. Then flip it around and let it sit there for another hour or two.
This brought back old memories from local community here Basically, someone really advocate to spray lube your keyboards and said that "brush lube is shit and waste of time, spray lube is the future" or something like that But then some ppl reported issues with their boards after spray lubed their boards and that guy just disappeared entirely lmao
Imagine lubing 100 switches for 6 hours without a switch opener and no bag lube (opening switch with another switch's top housing, manually lubing spring) because im stupid and impatient and though ah all those youtuber said lubing switches only took 3 hour, it is an escape from reality, it was easy! but still in the end i chose better method over spray lube
Instead of literally spraylubing i've applied a drop of ISO 100-150 super lube with a fine brush or a thin syringe to the east and west sides of a switch while depressing the stem and it seems like a much cleaner and safer method because you can actually control how much oil you're distributing in each switch. results still aren't as good as traditional lubing but it's much safer for a soldered board if you wanna risk it
I learned about spray lubing and i thought to my self what a great alternative but these youtubers always mention the cons at the end of the video LIKE why , you are going to cause some dumb kid who does no research to break his Keeb. This vid was very high quality and i loved but I think you and wildcat are there only keeb you-tubers to mention the cons at the beginning of the video no the end thanks for information Hipyo
imma be COMPLETELY honest i thought the video wasnt gonna be that good and just a short low effort video on why you shouldnt spray lube... this is amazing
If youre going to use any spray lube i'd recommend Caig DeOxIt F5 (NOT D!) or the F100 needle lube. It is specifically made not to damage plastics or electronics and not to attract dust, and is used throughout aerospace and high end audio. From what i can gather it is lithium grease based with naptha and a chlorocarbon as solvents that evaporate fully.
Yeah.... I spray lubed my RK61 with SuperLube yesterday and today, some of keys are not working well... GREAT🙃🙂🙃🙂 plus, the spray smell from keyboard is not good.. kinda makes me headache so I probably gonna dispose it! Yay!😭 Guys listen his song cuz it's true
You know you have expensive hobbies/interests when you're watching a video about custom keyboards and can also perfectly identify the bottles of fragrance on the shelf in the background.
I spray lubed gateron browns with WD-40 PTFE Teflon lube - works great - couldn't get super lube in romania so I just looked up the main ingredient to make sure. it was pretty much the same
@@0RBNC1 yeah dude its funny I'm using it on a shitty amazon low budget mech and it sounds better than a brand new Keychron k6 I just bought with linear switches (I haven't yet lubbed that one). Everything works fine and it feels great. PTFE is a forever chemical though so I'm more worried about my health than the keyboard lol!
I spray lubed once and my spacebar switch wouldn't depress normally rendering it unusable. Do not spray lube, friends. Not unless you are prepared to desolder and resolder a new switch on.
I thought about spraylubing once but in the end I chose a safer way of lubing without desoldering. Pushing down the stem of the switch with angled tweezers and lubing inside with a flat pencilbrush. I lubed the stabilizers lifting up the stems and reaching the metal clips with one of those thin interdental toothbrush. Maybe its not as good as a proper lube but the end result is totally worth it if desoldering is not an option.
I spraylubed with no issues on my first board. Worked great but it's very inconsistent switch to switch. Most people use super lube. Probably best to use bike chain PTFE "dry lube" it's basically ptfe powder and alcohol. When the alcohol evaporates. You're left with only PTFE. Make for a super smooth option for those that don't want to desolder. My guess is the super lube spray can coat the backside contact leaves. Spray lubing opticals won't hurt anything unless you block the laser sensor, which can happen anyways if you are heavy handed with the lubes.

We love you man your vids really got me into lubing and keyboard mods
My super lube doesn't click clack when shaken. I got it on Amazon. And my keyboards lubed with it work perfectly still.

I didn't know it was possible for a video about spray lubing mechanical keyboard switches to be this entertaining.
This channel is so underrated and this is my favorite video yet. Love the editing.

That song is amazing holy shit mate.
any thoughts on ghetto lubing! like using a bit of krytox105 along the sides of the switch
Me, having no idea what spray lubing is. Here. To learn why Im glad I never heard about this.

Im from Europe and used the Basic silicone lube spray, on my Redragon with otemu switches. Works fine. Than again i only did it on one board.
