Lifelong surfer here. Pop ups were easy when I was young and fit. As I got older, I sat behind a desk too much, and my hips slowly got stiffer, and core muscles got weaker. At some point, my pop up became noticeably terrible, with the exactly the issue you describe. It took a while of trying different things to figure out what was wrong. Still struggling with it, but at least I know why. Once you lose hip mobility in middle age, it is a huge struggle to get it back. But I’m not giving up yet!
Thanks for your feedback on personal experience! Hip mobility does become a big issue eventually. I’m constantly working on hip flexibility and mobility. I recently made a tutorial on hip mobility and flexibility. Check it out and see if it helps! Cheers
Nice videos Please make a video about weight vs volume and how loosing weight allows you to surf smaller boards in small waves I was 82kg struggling surfing with a 35L board and I'm dieting now to reach 72kg and hope it works Many thanks
If you’ll notice, the guy who successfully takes off (behind the girl) has his back arched more. This is important. Look at the unsuccessful take-off’s; there is barely any arch. 🤙
great Tutorial thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Great advice!
Glad you think so!
